Substitute the burger & fries for beans, rice & vegetables

I really like this segment because while they were interviewing Portia about her father dying and how if you don't deal with a traumatic event when it happens it will come back eventually and pretty much resurface again. I am going through this right now, and alot of people don't understand it but my ex fiance has been in prison for 6 years for trying to kill me and when he first was arrested I never dealt with it I ignored it and blocked it out and now its resurfacing because he was released.
I don't support being gay and lesbian; that's just how I was raised. But I will NEVER judge someone that is. They have a right to be whatever they want and I wish people wouldn't be cruel to them. Ellen and Portia are a nice couple and it is obvious they love each other. Love comes in many shapes and sizes, and their love is very beautiful.

Ellen is just a lucky woman to have such an inspiring wife and partner. Portia is just an image of inner and outer beauty as well as strength. Conversely, Portia is so lucky to have such a supporting wife like Ellen. You can see the concern, sympathy, and compassion in Ellen's eyes whenever Portia opens up. It's beautiful. They both inspire so many in so many ways.

I'm actually reading her book now, I received it two days ago, and it's really heartbreaking, and while reading it, you can feel her pain, how much she was stuck in that thing, and she was constantly thinking about the opinion of the people around her, whether it was about how she looked, or about her sexuality.

The last case was french model and actress Isabelle Caro's one, who suffered from anorexia. Unfortunately, she passed away at the age of 28, three years after the campaign she did to promote the awareness of this disease.
I personally admire the strength some people have to overcome adversity. Congratulations!
She was always pretty, but I find it her to be prettier as a normally sized person, not a skinny eating disorder mess... If this is what the modeling industry is like then it should be boycotted. Why do women get so self conscious about curves? They are natural and should not be something to be ashamed of. And if the modeling industry prefers non curvy girls, they are terrible, curvy girls are just as sexy, even sexier in my opinion...
This book seriously helped me. I don't have an eating disorder, but i was dealing with a bunch of other stuff. And after reading it, I just decided that i gotta fix everything that's going on with me otherwise I'm not going to be able to be the best me I can be. Gay marrige couples are 5x stronger than straight marrige couples. @SuperKawaichan that's because she starved and excercised a lot, if you only starve, at some point the weight loss becomes really really slow because you put your body in starvation mode and when this happens your body stores every calorie you eat to prevent you from dying from malnourishment

That was such a good question from that girl who asked what to say to someone you think is anorexic. I have a friend who struggled (and still does to some extend) with eating disorder and I was so worried when she got thinner and thinner but I didn't know what to say to her... I'm still mad at myself for not helping more. Luckily she was strong enough to realize she was sick and she couldn't keep it up.
It's a horrible, horrible disease and it's sickening how the media encourages it.

@SuperKawaichan that's because she starved and excercised a lot, if you only starve, at some point the weight loss becomes really really slow because you put your body in starvation mode and when this happens your body stores every calorie you eat to prevent you from dying from malnourishment

I love this interview! I love Ellen and her delightful sense of humor anyway but this interview is awesome. I never saw her acting that emotional and lovingly before. It was just WOW. I really think Portia can consider herself lucky! I´m non-lesbian, by the way. I just think it´s great how Ellen treats her and what she says about her here.

That was such a good question from that girl who asked what to say to someone you think is anorexic. I have a friend who struggled (and still does to some extend) with eating disorder and I was so worried when she got thinner and thinner but I didn't know what to say to her... I'm still mad at myself for not helping more. Luckily she was strong enough to realize she was sick and she couldn't keep it up.
It's a horrible, horrible disease and it's sickening how the media encourages it.

If you pause at 10:41 portia looks so angry at this girl. I finshed reading the book its so sad what she put herself through to appear "normal" but there is no such thing as normal. that just 1 groups view of how the world should be. be yourself. I love portia and ellen <3
