  • It works 4 me, thanks a lot .

  • THX A LOT MAN.

  • Looking forward to try that but looks promising !

  • this works ...thx very much :*

  • hey bro thankyou very much..... this works

  • Since I'm a phone dealer, I have had lots of Nokia N97s and all of them had the same issue (definitely a factory flaw) and after trying this I CAN VERIFY THAT THIS SOLUTION WORKS (it worked the same on every N97 that I tried). Even though there is still a tiny bit of flooding on the side, but hey, that cannot be helped, so its OK.

  • thanks it works!!

  • thank you

  • u rocks dude....... keep sharing

  • thanks dude it really works.you rocks man

  • I want to personally thank you for making this video. I've been plagued by this problem until I saw this video. The N97 community is in your debt.

  • Thanx dude i've tried it in my N97 and my flash blurring or flooding issue has been resolved, now i can capture clear images..thanx a lot dude :-D

  • Well that truely works guys try it try to make it more darker for better results!!

  • hey dude!!!! muaaaahhh...thanx alot...its works nycly...

  • THANKS ALOTT IT WORKSS

  • hey, i just did wat u said and my problems r all fixed!

i took like 20 pictures in complete darkness and they all come out perfectly (or as perfect N97 lets them come out).

no flash-bleedings in like 18-19 pictures.

    cheers!

  • gracias, lo hice y me quedo decentemente funcionando.

  • OR YOU COULD JUST TURN OFF THE FLASH ITSELF??????

  • Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!!! I had the same problem and since this is the easiest and the cheapest way to solve it... I tried and it works, not perfect but it works and it's much better now..... as the guy said, blame the Nokia designer/developer for this problem....

  • I had the same problem I tried it and it worked. So simple and cheap but works great.

    Thanks a lot.

  • Great Idea. Works Fine. 100 % Result. Thanks a lot Friend.

  • i have resolved, instead of print with black marker, ive used a slim rettangular portion 2x11 mm, of a black plastic scotch, for cover 1mm on lateral portion and 1mm on superior portion of flash plastic.

  • Finally, thanks, problem solved.

  • 100% work

    thanx frnd gud job

  • Great tip! Was just about to order a replacement cover but I will try this first!!

  • thanks bro!! great!! really work..

  • Try using electrical tape.

  • Dude! Just great!, last day of the year and I'm going to take a lot of pictures, so I was wondering if there was a simple solution for this. You got it!

  • Or u could just turn you flash off?

  • Thanks fella :)

  • Thanks fella

  • pink floyd-jimi hendrix-bobmarley

  • @anarcia666 i like you

  • i super glued my lens cover open. hey presto no scratches!!!!!

  • ty man....you are the best!!!

  • thnx alot man my camera result is now superb again thnx

  • nokia arent interested in fixing design faults. they dont want you to have a phone that your completely happy with cause you will keep it for years and not upgrade!they want you to keep buying a new phone every year!!

what they fail to see is, that after buying 2 or 3 nokias that are badly designed people will switch to sony or samsung

  • the best solution is to get a n97 mini

  • thanks...works like a charm

  • Thank you very much my friend!!! You saved me...!!! I'm writing you from Paraguay. I just bought it a few days ago, and I noticed this problem, but by your method I didn't have to remove the "plastic" above the camera.... I just have to deal now with the battery problem... Can you answer me to neodavid90@aol.com, because my battery doesn't work enough to me... I wanna know if you have the same problem... Thanks!!!

  • Thanks ! That's perfect !!!

  • Thanks, guy! That's perfect!

  • If your phone is under guarantee Nokia will repair it for free. Mine had the same issue with the camera and slide locl/unlock toggle falling off after a month. I sent it to a nokia repair center and it came back with a new back half of the phone. Problem solved and cost nothing.

  • Thanks! My concerns are over, it works and the difference is spectaculous.

  • Gracias amio! me ahorraste 20$ si funciona!!

  • Muchas Gracias !! Funcionaa o por lo menos mejoro Muchiisimo Thanks!!

  • well done man it worked 5/5

  • the shitiest series from nokia is n97

  • @realmavi the n97 and the mini have an excellent camera but the shots dont look too good on the screen.

when i got my 97mini i was disappointed by pic quality.it had same camera as my n85 but the n85 seemed better.

i bluetoothed a pic from my 97mini to my n85 (amoled screen) and i could then see that the 97 mini camera is very good, its just a bad screen.

the n86 is an amazing camera, but i cant wait to try n8.

nokias are mostly good phones but let down by poor software

  • @Kingmatthewshaun l use now n 900..at least this is not a symbian..now l have less problem then b4,,

  • thanks a lot man... It works at all

  • damn man nice job srsly :)

  • thanks dude it works

  • Unfortunately, this did not work for my phone, it still has the same flash flooded problem... I even tried filling the other proposed area you suggested later in the video but to no avail.... Thanks for trying to help though...

i thought i damage it when i drop mi phone on a concert.

  • This is frickin' awesome! Thanks mate for fixing my problem! Cheers! :D

  • btw, what is "blue caption"? or what does it do, and the significance? thanks.

  • wow dude thanks. i paid 900$cad for this phone and the flash effed up a month after i bought it. Man nokia has dissapointed me BIG TIME, us loyal nokia fans may not return to their shitty products anymore. i could of used the flash in many many many MANY occasions, but since it was busted nokia should re-reimburse us. thank you, and for shame nokia.

  • nice one geeza works perfect.

  • worked for me, jus in time for holiday

  • WORRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

    THANKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!1

  • Worked perfectly on my n97!! Now I just hope I don't get any more bloody scratches!! Friggin Nokia stuffed up big time with this one!!!

  • @jimbreng i did when i made this video, not any more

  • @jimbreng Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees !!!

  • It works

  • Didnt work for me

  • Yes, it does work. A simple quick and easy solution to the problem demonstrated well, thanks for this information. Wish everything was as easy as this :-)

  • Thanks,It WOrks :)

  • It helped. Thanks :)

  • Dude this is an awesome fix, thanks brother

  • i had this problem with the flash, so i simply stopped using the camera on the n97 in the dark, and turned the flash of from auto. gonna try this, and shud fix the problemo! thanks :D

  • OMFG!!!! this works!!! I have scratches on the plastic near the lens since August 2009 and i've had to turn off the flash to get decent pics with available light. Now this simple fix it made my camera phone usable. THANKS!!!!

  • thanks soo much man!! =)

  • thanks for sharing your tip. it worked really well with my phone!!

  • In other words, we just have to black out the entire flash zone(white zone) right?

  • Bellissimissimo!!!! fantasticissimo!!! you are magic!!! yeah!!!

  • but do not scratch the paint from the black pen away

  • thk man

now i can use my camera every day

    thkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Worked 100%..........many thanks.

  • thx man it really works!

  • ur great!!

    thx very much

    much more better photo's

    thx again for sharing

  • Thank you so much!! It didnt fix it 100% but it is so much better now; I'll try combining both your fix and the sticker idea and see how it works. Thanks again.

  • Wow, i've been so disappointed with the camera on my n97 and thought there was no way to fix it. This worked PERFECTLY. Thankyou!

  • I tried this, it kinda works? but when I tried cleaning the sides (some marks got to them) with alcohol, I accidentally touched the lens and now the lens is all blurry and/or light sensitive x.x any suggestions? :0

  • i cant believe this actualy worked!! i thought it was a stupid idea at first, but it actualy fixed the problem. thanks!!

  • ive had the n97 for 6months, ive had too get it repaired twice and the same problem with the camera, all in all this phone is a piece of shit, good idea for the fix but we shouldnt have too do this for the price of this phone

  • i got mine about a month ago.. no scratch at all.. i always use the camera tho' i wonder... anyway my buddy had the same issue bout most of you guys. what he did was trim a sticker that would perfectly fit on the sides near the flash.. that should fix the problem

  • Whos the bird in the profile picture?!

  • Thank u

  • I used a sharpie marker on the sticker that i'd put on the lens area (between the flash and the lens) and it worked great!!. No more flooding due to the sticker, no ink on the lens glass :P and extra protection against scratches due to the stupid lens cover design by Nokia!.

So the combination of these two solutions might help anyone to keep their N97's safe :D

    Thanks man =)

    Greetings from Colombia

  • Hey

I recently got my N97. I got no scratches between the lens and the flash area yet. As i was concerned about this issue, i used a protective film (transparent sticker) on the lens area to prevent any scracthes, but this caused flooding on most of my pictures. I guess light gets refracted on the sticker. Should the marker solution solve the problem here? or should i just remove the sticker? I got no problems without the sticker.

    Excellent video

    Thanks.

  • i would say try the marker solution first and see what happens, and then if it doesnt work just take it off and do as described in the video. maybe you could try some other method of stopping any light getting into the sticker or lens glass.

  • @wigisan I suggest you AVOID using the lens cover ... just keep it open ...

  • Amazingly simple and efficient, congratulations!

  • very nice! it works!!! rate 5 star!

  • THNX, it works!

    Ating

  • Guys I too have the same problem. But it is with my 5800. Can anybody show where to use the pen in 5800. It would be very grateful of you because I am just bogged down with this problem

  • just think about it.

  • Man thanks from Colombia!!!

I was going crazy with this problem!!

  • holy fuck it worked. Nice one man.

  • can anyone help me ??? my n97 wont even turn on, i phone battery ran out and i lost the charger so i left it dead for about a week and when i bought a new charger and plugged it into my phone it wont even turn on and the light on the side right next to the charger hole keeps in blinking ??!!!??? can anyone tell me why or how to fix this ?????

  • you need to perform a hard reset. you can find out how to do this on the internet. it involves holding down certain buttons while pressing the power button. if that doesnt work you need to go to a nokia care point

  • When I used to take pics half the left side of the pic was flooded, I was getting so frustrated with it. Now i tried this and it FIXED IT your a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It still has very slight flooding so im going to try the blue caption, uno the grey line around the lens do I avoid marking that part?

Thanks man you really helped :)

  • no thats fine, you can mark the grey part aswell, as long as you cant see the pen in your photos it should be fine

  • lol, didn't thinked that it will helps, BUT IT DID! now camera working fine! THANKS!!!

  • Another thanks, man!!

    Gracias desde México.

  • no pasa nada amigo, si quires preguntar algo mas...pues dime.

  • Pues ahora que lo dices, el gps no detecta satélites y pues no tengo idea de porque halla sido.

  • Thats a fault with all nokia's. If you go to a nokia care point, and tell them the problem, they should fix it for free under the worranty. Many people have the same problem as you dont worry. si lo quires en espanol, dime

  • i did it it really worked i just bought my phone 2 days ago i liked it from long time but when i bought it it showed me this type of camera i became so sad but now am happy

  • Thanks... you helped me to solve the problem :)

  • thankkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkksssssssssssssssssssssssssss Dude thanks alot simply brilliant

  • Your thanks make me smile. There is nothing better then having exactly what you want in your pocket. But Nokia have yet to give me that. one day........

  • IT WORKS! 2:02!!! Follow the blue caption... if you don`t have a sharpy pen, u can use a marker to cover the space between the camera`s white circle around it and the flash... it works perfectly! thanks!

  • I work as a Film Producer and bought this camera thinking it would be good for projects. ITS BEEN AN EXPENSIVE NIGHTMARE!

Thank you so much for a simple but effective solution.

    NOKIA YOURE A F**KING DISGRACE!

  • You wana hook me up with a job??

  • also, what celebs have you driven, what specific film or TV stuff have you done and what cars have you driven?

  • Works good, you just have to re do it after every ten times you open the lid.

  • i don think only ten times, but yes you do have to re-do it when it appears again. I recently went to a Nokia care point and they fixed the problem by replacing the whole camera lense, with one that doesnt scratch the glass. they did it for free under the warranty. but not everybody can be bothered to do this so using the pen method is much more convinient.

  • Could you show us some actual before and after shots?

  • sorry but i replaced the faulty camera cover so dont have any pictures to show

  • you rock man ,................three cheers

  • heyyy dude what are you .............. !!!!

man you just saved NOKIA from thousand curses................

i actually didnt believe this crap and laughed, marker (hahaha) and what next........... but thought to give it a SHOT !!! man you just sopped me from selling my phone..........

GUYS THIS ACTUALLY WORKS (brilliantly) !!!

  • Great fix, works perfect, thank you

  • simple but effective solution, thanx mate

  • i have tried this,and it fixed:)thanx a lot man...everybody should try this...thanx:)

  • thank u i will try:)

  • Thank you! Nokia were not interested in the problem,

  • Thank you, god bless people more intelligent than I. Incidentally, my phone did this from day one, so no scratches, and did it badly too. i put it down to the flash being too close to the camera lens. Fixed now though!

  • thanx man ...Problem solved !!!

  • ThThanks mate!! Works great! Was pretty upset because of this flash flooding but this makes my day! All happy again!!

  • I just removed the plastic between the lens and the cover...Problem solved COMPLETELY....

  • yes this works, but only for people that dont have any scratches on their glass already. Most people watching this video already have the problem and so removing the plastic would not help them. But as far as people who dont have the scratches, your method would be very good (if they know how to do it).

  • used a blue pen cause i didnt have anything else lying around but it pretty much fixed it (though black will definitely be better) thanks!

  • a 700 dollar phone shouldn't have this stupid ass problem!!!

Thank you for the video! Helped me millions! Nokia won't even answer to the user complaints, looks like we're on our own, fucking Nokia.

  • another happy viewer, makes me happy that i helped someone else with this problem. if only i could get this information out to everybody with this phone. But the sad truth is that most people will just live with it and wont even think about searching the internet for a possible solution.

p.s. firmware version 2.0 is a very good upgrade. it sorts out a lot of problems and bugs and frees up some more phone memory to speed up the phone. i had to debrand my phone so i could update now. try it

  • thnx, i got the new firmware

    its better, yep

  • thanx dude i thought i was my mistake or smthin

crazy ppl who mahe it ,the price is soo high and such a huge defect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    thanx again friend

  • no worries, thanks for the comment

  • this thing realy works,thanks

  • happy to help, if only i had found a video like this when i was testing out ways to stop this OUTRAGEOUS DESIGN FAULT!!

  • by the way, did you test out your camera by taking a picture of the night sky?....is there any problems?? would like to know. thanks

cuz i have another idea which could help even more.
