I'm a gamer not a graphics whore I don't care about the specs of a system. I buy for games and only games. I stick with Nintendo cause I know they have the best 1st party and a lot of 3rd party surprises as well.

Ok the GPU in the 6670, known as 'Turks' is -about- 3x as powerful as Xenos in the 360. It should be able to do the 360's current basic level of graphics at 1080p, but at that resolution don't expect any other enhancements. At 720p, however, you can expect quite a bit of upgraded visuals, especially if the memory size and bandwidth is there to support it. I however think that the 6670 will not be the GPU in the "neXtbox".
@mobius1aic Realistically, I would expect Juniper or Barts, and just maybe Cypress. Juniper and Cypress are VLIW5 SIMD GPUs, of which Xenos is as well IIRC, but Barts is VLIW4. I think it would be more intelligent to stick with a VLIW5 SIMD GPU, since it's what 360 devs pretty much already know, and leave out one less issue in making backwards compatibility a possibility. Cypress is a pretty large and hot die even at 40 nm, though a 28 nm shrink would cut down power use and TDP tremendously.
@mobius1aic Juniper has the right combination of capability, features, size, TDP, power usage, and thermals to be a good GPU for the next Xbox. It's memory controller is also GDDR5 ready.
No, I wouldn't expect the same visual jump as we got going from the first Xbox to the 360, but in some ways the jump is analogue as Xenos has only 4x the texturing power as NV2A in the Xbox. However, Juniper would be capable of 1080p visuals, and still better graphics than Xenos, at a reasonable cost, especially at 28 nm with good thermals

To be honest, I prefer the older consoles than the newer ones. The games back then, were about the appeal and gameplay. Now-a-days, it's all about graphics. Once I complete Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, I'm going to be doing nostalgia gaming for the year. I'll be playing games from my Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube (Game Boy Advance player) and Nintendo 64 (Pokemon Game Boy Color player). I'll also be playing older Wii, Playstation 3 and XBox 360 games.
I hope people have an interest to my comment. I wanna get people to think about whats on my mind. It isn't about the graphics because it's obvious they can get better to a limit. It's how we play our games that concerns me. The Wii U is still turning me off with that hideous controller. But I am dying to give it a chance. People who don't play video games..play kinect. You're right on not emphasizing graphics that much. Plus the look at games like uncharted 3 it looks incredibly amazing to be running on 7 year old hardware. So it isn't always the hardware components but also the developers input into their games that determine the visual quality.

So you always have to assume that you COULD be wrong or be right but miss a fact or two.

@PATRIOT7ME Nope playstation did, because it was the first console to use CD's so bigger memory space, Nintendo 64 games had poor sound and graphics but nintendo knew how to make really good games with the console and defined how 3D games would be for example Legend of Zelda and Super Mario 64
actually sega did CDs 1st and nintendo was the 1st to have the idea, and, the N64 had better backgrounds and less load times, while PS1 did do CG cutscenes and stuff like that but the characters would suffer or it would take multiple disk, like FF9 didnt have good smoothing transitions, N64 exclusives did look better like ps1 games (its like 360 vs ps3, 360 multiplats are usually better but PS3 exclusives look better).

@Renegado140 CD technology wasn't to young or to old at the time. CDs in the PS1 days had good memory for the time. But programming and rendering games into 3D was a bold step at the time. Cartridges were familiar in the industry which is why the N64 cartridge had the ability to render 3D much better than the PS1. N64s RAM was also better.

But, I always heard the contrary to this argument because the N64 apparently ran smoother, has better animations, and games usually didn't have framerate issues. I never owned a PS1, unfortunately so I really can't debate with you but, I always noticed a grainy look to Spyro, Tombraider, and Crash at my cousins' house. I don't recall a lot of (mainstream) N64 titles having this. I'm just giving my 2 cents. I don't fucking know... XD

Juniper GPU
3 GB of GDDR5 - unified memory architecture via 192 bit bus for ~96 GB/s of memory bandwidth minimum.
Blu-Ray drive
16 GB Flash ROM in all systems (upper end models available with HDDs as well).
$400 would be a pretty reasonable price point and should still be profitable.

To be honest, I prefer the older consoles than the newer ones. The games back then, were about the appeal and gameplay. Now-a-days, it's all about graphics. Once I complete Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, I'm going to be doing nostalgia gaming for the year. I'll be playing games from my Playstation 2, Nintendo Gamecube (Game Boy Advance player) and Nintendo 64 (Pokemon Game Boy Color player). I'll also be playing older Wii, Playstation 3 and XBox 360 games.

You're right on not emphasizing graphics that much. Plus the look at games like uncharted 3 it looks incredibly amazing to be running on 7 year old hardware. So it isn't always the hardware components but also the developers input into their games that determine the visual quality.

actually sega did CDs 1st and nintendo was the 1st to have the idea, and, the N64 had better backgrounds and less load times, while PS1 did do CG cutscenes and stuff like that but the characters would suffer or it would take multiple disk, like FF9 didnt have good smoothing transitions, N64 exclusives did look better like ps1 games (its like 360 vs ps3, 360 multiplats are usually better but PS3 exclusives look better).

@Renegado140 CD technology wasn't to young or to old at the time. CDs in the PS1 days had good memory for the time. But programming and rendering games into 3D was a bold step at the time. Cartridges were familiar in the industry which is why the N64 cartridge had the ability to render 3D much better than the PS1. N64s RAM was also better.

@Renegado140 Don't forget Acclaim with Turok! But, I always heard the contrary to this argument because the N64 apparently ran smoother, has better animations, and games usually didn't have framerate issues. I never owned a PS1, unfortunately so I really can't debate with you but, I always noticed a grainy look to Spyro, Tombraider, and Crash at my cousins' house. I don't recall a lot of (mainstream) N64 titles having this. I'm just giving my 2 cents. I don't fucking know... XD

CDs have more memory and are easier and cheaper to make. If Nintendo knows how to use their tech why can't other devs learn from how they did to at least get on par with them? Heck Rare which is a second party not a first party even made some of the best use out of the n64. As far I know Rare wasn't making the N64 like Big N.

More data space = more room. More room = more data can be stored. More data means more images(textures) models, sprites, and even more detail to each piece.

@PATRIOT7ME Um no its cpu was a 32 bit processor, and the gpu was a 32 bit graphic's processing unit. 32 =/= 128 bit. u = epic fail.... even if you combine the bit rate of both it only is 64 bit. You know not what you speak what so ever.

Good video. So, as of now, Wii U and 720 will basically be the same power. And based off what Sony would need to do to survive, we should all expect the same thing from the PS4. They can't afford another PS3.
