I went to the park when I was 6 or 7 and have very vivid memories of the clear plexiglass carousel as well as riding inside of the pinball in the pinball game ride. Who else visited, Ive never met another person who did?!
Should I be worried that, while listening to this, I kept thinking to myself various ideas on how someone could use this audio for some purpose today?
at :35 I think that's the crazy man who jumped down the escalator and almost knocked us over. I remember the top hat! And is that Chevy Chase behind him?
I wished I could have been there.Time magazine had a full page articale about the park in 76. Wow that was some tripped out spooky music...kinda makes me think of Electric woman and Dyna girl...it fills you with suspense as the plot thickens.
I wanted to go to this place so bad back then that I couldn't hardly stand it! Sad thing is,it closed down before I was able to go there, and I never got to.Now CNN has all of the floors that this awesome indoor amusement park was on.But I did ice skate on the now defunct ice rink a few times.Plus in this same building in Atlanta,Burt Reynolds had a bar/club upstairs and we hung out there some.it was called,Burt's Place. This used to be the Omni Hotel, next to the old Omni, now Phillips Arena.
I grew up on the Sid and Marty Krofft shows as a kid and loved them, even have them on DVD now. Your blog post was interesting to read and I did not know they even had a Theme Park in Atlanta way back when. Cool stuff.... Will there be another video of more from Sid and Marty Krofft?
@usa02 - I believe that's Tony Orlando, who was reported to have attended the grand opening event, along with Kate Smith (1:25) and Peggy Flemming (1:12).
@sccatluvr After a closer look I think you're right, although I'm not sure what he was doing there. At this time he was working for ABC news doing a late night show. I did read that Tony Orlando was present at the grand opening party as well. Just assumed it was him.
Wow, had no idea what is was watching, but I read your blog. Really interesting. I as a child LOVED land of the lost, obviously had not idea the creators had a theme park. Congratulations obtaining the audio, and the search to have them converted. The journey is always the most rewarding.

@MoviesMusicNature Some of the music at around 2:25 reminds me of the movie Logans Run.
