  • I DON'T CARE WHERE YOU'RE FROM OR HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN THERE.......IF YOU'RE A PICKER, YOU'VE PICKED SOME SKYNYRD SOMETIME, SOMEPLACE, SOMEWHERE......I'M STILL PICKIN' SKYNYRD AND WILL TILL I DIE.

  • loved lynyrd skynyrd still love all their songs

  • 2 people would not know good music if it fell out of the sky, landed on their face and wiggled. Seriously how can anyone dislike this song, I think it is one of their best top 5 for sure, maybe top 3 for me. So much going on, 3 guitar attack, Leon rockin the bass, Artimus pounding the skins, Billy Tickling the ivory (his playing is amazing I will add, in any song) and don't forget The man Ronnie belting out those lyrics like no one else can. I guess 2 gangsters did not like the white mans music.

  • i know steve gaines was in a league of his own. the slide. the talent. the voice . just did not say anything this time . but i always do.

  • at 2:07 its just guitar bass and drums. They rocking!! WTF!!

  • allens explorer has to be worth a million dollrs

  • gary and allen rule

  • @gman49600 Gaines doesn't exactly suck.

  • From all the of Skynyrd´s songs, "Workin for MCA" was the best choice for begining the show.

It´s like Zeppelin´s "Rock and Roll", UFO´s "Natural Thing", Rainbow´s "Kill the King" and Kansas´s "Song for America"

  • Yeah that is the way it was in the day...you hate your label but just remember, do not shit where you sleep.....it was cool, they are gone and did what was called for in the 70s. Pick it up on the rest of the story on edotfortunemusicwannabees on the realm.

  • I know the lyrics keep saying "Want to sign a contract Want to sign today" But it sure sounds like "Should have signed a contract. Should have signed today" Does any one else hear it that way?

  • @TheHerndogger there saying SURE...like..bSure to sign....get it?

  • @TheHerndogger Thats what i always thought, hes saying should have thats what i hear anyway

  • Anybody remeber what today is? It is a very sad anniversary.

  • The fact that a keyboard cover does not exist on Youtube...

    ...makes me smile! :D

  • This has to be one of the best songs ever written in my opnion. Skynyrd was out of this world man. Nobody is better live. These guys practised a lot, and it shows. These guys sound better live, then any band today that gets to do their album in the studio, take by take, and pick the best parts for the song. These guys even recorded their albums the same way, one take straight through lol. Its nice to see there are still people out there who listen to good music. Skynyrd = G.O.A.T

  • local jobs hiring online careerstartlocation.info needing employees now

  • @ztefanieHarrell GET OFF OF THIS MESSAGE BOARD YOU HOMO!!!!!!!! Shit heads like you ought to be strung up. This page is reserved for SKYNYRD FANS!!!

  • @thrashshit666 dislike button shouldn't exists for this song!!

  • THIS IS THE TIGHTEST BAND THAT EVER WAS, NOT TO MENTION

    HOW MAGER TALANTED THEY WERE

  • :)

  • They were AMERICAS band, Ronnie would have poped bin ladin hisself if he got the chance, we only had them for less than 5 yrs, but they left a us with A BIG OL SOUTHERN GRIN.....the monkeyman

  • So wish I could have seen them back in the day....they are good now, but GREAT back then. Such a tragedy...

  • Cool Song !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You have to love the lyrics.

Ahhhhgggg.... Yankee stole my moneyyyyy, since I was seventeennnn.

  • awesome fretwork

  • Couldnt get this song out of my head today so had to listen to it

  • 7 years of hard lust...cummin' down on me. From the Florida border yeah up to a Nashville Tennessee.

  • any band credited with establishing a music genre has to go down in history as one of the best ever, as does Lynyrd Skynyrd, credited with founding Southern Rock and forever the epitome of a Southern Rock band. Grew up with this band and still love the version here the best.

  • @PenguinHunter64 thumbs up 1,000,000,000,000,000 times

  • this ain't no faggy lady antebellum bullshit

  • @mharrin5507 thumbs way the hell up

  • greatest band ever

  • Yankee slicker rock and roll producer. He did a couple of their albums, apparently.

  • Yankee slicker rock and roll producer. He did a couple of there albums, apparently.

  • restlessbreed10.... how can you say that about one of the greatest southern rock lead guitarists ever. AWESOME lead work by Steve, and the double leads by Allen and Gary..FLAWLESS.. i bet you dont know music, much less how to play it,try to figure out those leads if your a guitarist, bet ya spend a while learning them.

  • @doughauf I think it's cut time or a fast four...

  • steves lead work on this song is a bit weak. but great fucking song anyway !!!!

  • Great track to open any Skynyrd show, but I can't remember whether they opened with it at Bristol in 76-77 with Clover as support act? I suspect they probably did. Good to see the Knebworth footage on here as well, though a lot of it is on the Freebird The Movie DVD. Can never tire of watching Skynyrd in action. Just a shame that most of them are no longer with us now.

  • What is the time signature on this song????????

  • @doughauf I believe it's in untouchable/super-badass time.

  • Yep....AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME................What a sound....Live sound that is.

So many bands these days....immitators still don´t get it do they???

    Skynyrd....Love em!

  • EVERYONE IM SORRY I ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE DISLIKE BUTTON!!!

IM SORRY I LOVE SKYNYRD!! TOTAL FUCKIN ACCIDENT!!!

  • @thrashshit666 TOTAL FUCKINH ACCIDENT LOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @thrashshit666 :) You are offically pardoned!! lol

  • LOL U OK MAN!!!! nobody is that nuts!!!!!

  • I cant believe literally all those band members are now dead, with the exception of Gary and Arti

  • @ConorSomerz i think the bass player is still playin for em

  • @Aholt454SS Nah, Leon the bassist is dead now, died in 2001

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love this music, pure energy

  • garys tone of his mace for some reason in all these songs from knebworth sounds diffrent from any other vids. more gritty, and idk just diffrent love the tone

  • somewhere in the world there is a muppet who hit the dislike button.

  • As never seen, As never heard, As free as a bird! => Freebird album! Got to love it!

  • Totally Priceless!! I need to find this entire show on DVD..

  • the original great southern boogie bad boys!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the beldning of Ronnie Van Zant's voice with Allen Collins Gary Rossington & Steve Gaines guitars is what made this r& b/hip hop child a fan of Southern Rock

  • even in chicago i love skynyrd FAMILY FAVORITE

  • Simply put, the bets EVER guitar line up. Collins, Gaines, and Rosington are forever brilliant musicians who only had a couple years together to rock the world. Just think if they had decades.

  • little did they know 30 yrs later and still the shit! what a jam !!!!!!!!!

  • Four friggin' guitarists; AWSOME!!!!!!!

  • @buckett1965 3 guitarists and a bassist

  • GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The guitar solos are a bit different from the album version, not bad just different.......

I know cause this is one of my "Road Songs"!!

  • my favorite band!!!!!!!!!!

  • such an amazing band

  • Love this song,i've been working for McA,shouldn't pay the bill, should've sign the contact,oh gosh that riff is nice aswell with tthat piano.Skynyrd 4 life.

  • Gibson Les Paul, Gibson Explorer and Fender Stratocaster .-)

  • EPIC! It's just sad that so many people dismiss Skynyrd because of their southern background. You can't deny the plethora of musical genious behind Skynyrd and the bible of music they created. Rawest fucking band ever!!!

  • @KiserJohn : That's ok that some people write them off. It's the kind of thing that seperates the people who are cool from the people who can go fuck themselves.

  • I never realized that this concert was in england

  • That should´ve been ED King doing that solo.

Steve couldn´t do what Ed does.

  • Ed and Steve are good with each other.Trust me,....They are Pros. The rest of us cover what they do.

  • Steve was a much better guitarist than Ed, sorry. He is the one that helped the band pick up it's sound again when he came on board. Gary and Allen goth said his playing made them work harder to keep up.

  • Steve Gaines was such an awesome player. Who knows what he might have become if not for the crash...

  • Legendary stuff right here.. Can't get enough..

  • My fave lyric:

"But we smiled at the Yankee Slicker with a big ol' Southern grin"

  • KICK ASS ROCK!! SHO" NUFF

  • Long Live!

  • Possibly the 3 most under rated guitarists of the 70's! Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, and Steve Gaines had a pure chemistry in their shows! Ronnie VanZant was lyrically and musically starting to show his true potential. He was not only the Lead singer, but he was also the leader and driving force to Skynard! It's a shame to see the resurrection, no offense, but Johnny you are not Ronny. Hughie (RIP) and Rickey, your not Allen or Steve. This was surely one of the best bands at the right time!

  • @mryaniii skynyrd hoss and i think johnny knows he isn't ronnie they way they were borned and raised is to be yourself not someone else he knows who he is he can't be ronnie no one can

  • i completely agree with what you said dude. by the way its spelled Skynyrd. just saying dude.

  • WE HAVE LOST SO MANY FINE MUSICIANS. THRU THE YEARS BACK THEN GOOD MUSIC WAS ALSO THE EAGLES STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, JACKSON BROWNE THE STONES ETC.THEY HAD A KNACK FOR LYRICS and perfecting their unique sounds.THESE DAYS IF YOU TAKE OUT THE FOUL LANGUAGE THERES NOTHING LEFT... RIP BILLY POWELL SADLY MISSED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.... DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHAT ED KING IS DOING THESE DAYS? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A REAL TREAT IF HE HAD BEEN ON THIS TOUR, IT MUST HAVE BEEN ONE HARD DECISION.... C

  • I DARE any artist to sing a song like this today. LySky knew they were BAD, and could talk about the VIPERS that promoted them. Nobody today has that much talent and confidence.

  • Amen! I remember these guys back in the day......here in J-ville. They had more balls than any band at that time.

  • lynard sknard-KICK ASS BAND

  • @scrubfree71 lynyrd skynyrd

  • @scrubfree71

    Ive got this dvd

  • @scrubfree71 great comment but learn the spelling...LYNYRD SKYNYRD

  • @scrubfree71 I agree but at least learn how to spell Lynyrd Skynyrd right

  • @scrubfree71

    Who is Lynard Skynard?

  • @scrubfree71 Don't you mean Lynyrd Skynyrd?

  • planned to see them the year of the plane crash what a great loss of a fab band........remember the first time i heard saturday night special.............never forget it..............or them

  • This is skynrd in prime to me.....you know they are all watered down by most these days(alcohol rednecks) but there was a time they were right there to kick ass and take anybody!

  • dang I wish I could figure out this riff..

  • billy.. yes its calld freebird the movie! and i love there music. this is my favrit band... i know there gone! but i can still fire up a joint and play all there songs lol THIS is good music....yaa!!! im a drummer and this is fun to play!!

  • HAPPY LABOR DAY, EVERYBODY !!! ; )

  • o estilo desse vocalista é muito tosco ¬¬'

  • Its a shame that artimus dosent play with the band, I really thought that seeing how we have just lost an other skynyrd member a few months ago. Artimus would rise and say hey theres only two of us I would like to keep this rolling on. But I was mistaken I am not saying anything against the drumer now he is good and I like him from the damn yankees. Its like skynyrds the same but then there not because of all the new people and I would like to see artimus come back.

  • isnt artimus in jail? or was he just charged

  • i'm surprised they let ed solo

  • that's not Ed, it's Steve Gaines.

  • thats Steve Gaines, Ed left the band in like 74 or something like that

  • @hjavgvm Ed left in the summer of 75 Steve joined in June of 1976...

  • You know this is gonna be good as soon as it hits the 0:04 mark

  • haha right? its such an epic intro for this.

  • kick ass tune!

  • This song is #7 on my weekly video countdown.

  • i think rossington and artimus pyle the drummer is all thats left. artimus dont even play with the band anymore. he had to get away.

  • Ed King - original guitarist and Bob Burns - original drummer are also still living (but not touring with the band). Also, two of the three "Honkettes" (female back-up singers) are still living.

  • Check the guitars... 59 LP, 58 explorer, pre-cbs strat... AHHH, the good old days!

  • anyone know if a DVD of this concert exists?

  • yes free bird the movie

  • yeah it does. i have it.

  • why did they have to die...

  • great song but you dont expect anything less than great from skynyrd check out my channel for more good stuff

  • awesome video

  • ...One of these Skynyrd's looks like a Billy Corgan circa 1991. I'll give you a hint...

    It's Gary Rossington.

  • this is the best band ever!!!

  • This is what you call a perfect storm...doesnt hapeen to often in this life....

  • nope....they were poor and played every friggin day....that's how they got so good...let's not forget Ed King....

  • Fucking masterpiece!

  • That's right Artimus was born in Louisville, Ky...He was living in South Carolina when he was hired by RVZ...

  • great song

  • Steve Gaines OFFICIALLY joined the band in June of 1976...Recorded One More From The Road during the first week of July of 1976...Street Survivors came out October 16, 1977...4 days later he and Cassie and RVZ were dead..The band were all from Jacksonville Fla..except for Ed King, Artimus and Steve Gaines...Ed King was from California. Artimus was from South Carolina and Steve Gaines was from Oklahoma..

  • Artimus was from Louisville Ky

  • Great band, great song, great footage.

  • this is awesum. I just chose to do a huge 6 page report on these guys, and I'm having so much fun learning about them. It's exciting how much they did and how they met. Just luv it. and this song.

  • 6 page report on skynyrd? pretty cool. i just did 12 pages on jimi hendrix. i guess we have pretty cool professors right? you in college too?

  • no, 8th grade. it sux. lol. having to do 6 pages, i mean. not the subj. Lynyrd Skynyrd is just awesum.

  • LOOK AT ARTY GO! WE MISS RONNIE!

  • this is one of my favorite lynyrd skynyrd songs. the guitar riff is catchy i like it.

  • this is in your face skynyrd...what band would write the first song for an album and insult the record company they just signed with? Only Skynyrd...

  • I saw them just months before the accident,Springfield,MA general admission, fornt row.I was just 16 at the time.Man,the sounds that came from that stage! I love you tube! God bless ya Skynrd, love ya.

  • What is scary is that when Ed King visited the gravesites he liked to have freaked out...He and Steve Gaines had the same exact birthday...September 14,1949..."I felt like he bought me bullet" King would later say...

  • great insight brother..............thanks

  • holy shit look at that crowd... why dont they play the big outdoor concerts anymore these days?

  • Saw interview with Pete Townsend and he admitted that they didn't want to follow Skynyrd on stage. Saw this lineup many times and ALWAYS loved every minute of the music. This was my favorite song of theirs. Opened many show before being a headliner and they blew the crowd away.

  • Did you travel around to see them? I'm curious since this lineup with Steve Gaines wasn't around that long?

  • That bass line is awesome

  • Is mca a record company?

  • Yes

  • Music Corporation of America, MCA, funny it was owned by Japans.

  • man...i;m not usually a big fan of pianos...i usually into the guitarists (being a guitarist myself) but Billy Powell is just awesome..he can play man..im glad hes still with them even though they arent as good without the originals

  • fucking steve gaines ripped shit

blew ed king outa the water.....pains me to say it but god damn

that trill at the end of the solo tied the room together

  • yeah i like Ed...but Steve was amazing

  • ed was and still is too arrogant

  • Sucks how the plane crash took the most important member (Ronnie) as well as one of the essential guitarists.

  • god...they blew the Stones off the stage that day....and later on tour with the Who....what a great...great fucking band....

  • fucking Alan kicking the leg....god bless Alan....at least I got to see him....

  • Skynyrd does not get enough credit for their talent, it seems they are always passed off as rednecks that play Free Bird, and Alabama, but it goes so far beyond that it is rediculous. Truly a talented group of musicians. Collins,Gaines, and Rossington are VERY underated players!!

  • politely disagree...yes Freebird and SHA were great...my wife's and my wedding song was "gimme three steps"....it has no meaning as a wedding song...we just liked to dance to it...we never got to see Skynyrd...but we saw Rossington-Collins...so we saw Allen before he died...

  • I totally agree, all Skynyrd is thought of is redneck music and that, im from VA but i don't believe in that "south will rise agian!" redneck mentalaty but i still love Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  • Man...they just played...kick ass R&R...and I have to apologize to shak...he was saying the same thing basically....Skynrd is not "redneck"...Skynrd is American....

  • i cant get my computers speakers loud enough for this song

  • heh...I own a computer company and we are now doing multimedia withing houses....we can fix your problem!!!

  • working for mca, I LOVE THIS FUCKING SONG ronnie van zant bare feet and all, awesome

  • Magnificent live version ! ! Thanks !

  • I love me some Artimus Pyle! seriously, though skynyrd sucks w/out Ronnie, Steve, Artimus, Allen, or Leon.

the original skynyrd was pure musical genius.
