  • That was sick

  • Hunter Tompson and Mel Blanc in the same show!!!!??? JESUS!!!

  • RIP Mel Blanc, there is no other, you were the one, the only, true master of 1,000 voices.

  • Si, Sy, Sue, Saw, Brilliant!!!

  • dave is a smug cunt, has no place within 500 miles of a legend like mel blanc

  • @5hinkuro

Letterman's always had a problem being upstaged and outclassed, which of course a potted plant could suffice.

  • He has the same "accent" as my grandpa.

  • He was a brilliant man

  • When did this air.

  • He is so awesome.

  • Mel Blanc and Hunter Thompson on the same show. Those were the days.

  • Chicken R-A-T chicken

  • Still some of the best voice acting you can hear.

  • Look at the end of his interview and his humility. It looks like he is thinking, well, you're done with me, so I will let you guys go back to what you were doing. Dave has to stop him.

  • For a man who did a thousand voices for Warner Brothers for many years...his regular voice sure sounds like Walt Disney's voice. :)

  • love this! not the same world without mel.

  • If you look up legend in the dictionary, there's a picture of Mel Blanc

  • @theballer04 The voice accompaning that picture, however, can be anybody's. I mean, same larynx, but completely different.

  • 5 people are intrested in reality tv.

  • I wanted to meet the Man of A Thousand Voices. Sad that I never did :,(

  • Looks a little like Walter Cronkite to me.

  • 40 seconds in and I'm roaring with laughter.

    Genune, pure, genius.

  • Tom Kenny would be so proud he was on the related search. Just to let you know, Tom grew up idolising Mel Blanc :)

  • For anyone who hasn't seen it, search Johnny Carson, Jack Benny, and Mel Blanc to see Blanc's interpretation of an English horse...it's hilarious.

  • A GRAND VOCAL man. If H.G.Wells wanted inspiration for his story, The Invisible Man, Mel Blanc would have been satisfied since his vocal talents hardly aged over the years in radio & cartoon productions in contrast to video productions.

If one listens carefully to the minor cartoon voices that he did for Warners, if can detect his normal speaking voice.

  • mel blancs a beast

  • why did he die..... :(

  • Mel Blanc AND Hunter Thompson?! Fucking dope!

  • I am the 1000th like!

  • Absolutely wonderful, those voices are imprinted on the minds of a whole generation. Be be bip be be bip,..that's all folks !

  • @TonyBurke100 more than one generation.

  • What's not to like you 3 DICKHEADS?

  • Mel gave his name to the phrase "a Blanc slate" because he writes anything on it.

  • 3 people were not allowed to watch cartoons

  • Reading his biography at the moment. Classic. Many of the stories he's telling Dave is in the book.

  • I remember a lithograph from back in the early 90's that had several of WB's characters like Bugs, Foghorn Leghorn, Daffy standing with there heads bowed sadly. Standing next to a vacant microphone that was lit by spot light and the caption simply read "Speechless." His humor and talent are sorelly missed.

  • David is a stone cold douche face.

He's so boring. Mel just makes the whole room epic.

    :-)

  • @gtamythmaster43 straight up. you'd think he'd have a little respect for a person like Mel.

  • @nworbrelytthefirst

    So true.

  • looney tunes beats the shit out of mickey mouse

  • @videogamercentral1 That's just because there's more of them. It's not a fair fight.

  • @videogamercentral1 I agree! xD

  • ooohhhh so thats where jeff dunham got the voice of jose jalapeno from. this dude!

  • All-time great.

  • how did he remember them all

  • @pawnsacrifice1 You don't remember them, you re-hear them. You can't get away from sounds if you're an ear person. They live around you all the time, it's like photographic memory. You couldn't create hundreds of different voices if you couldn't instantly know where there was an opening you hadn't already filled. I make musical instruments because I have a bit of the ear; Mel is among my all time favorite musicians.

  • how in the world can you sit through this interview without cracking up?!

  • dave is a dick

  • 3 people don't appreciate someone who can do 400 different voices

  • y in gods name is there a dislike button on this video

  • Now that was talent.... You dont find em like that anymore...

  • Amazing person.

  • one of the most talented guys ever!

  • 3 people are despicable!

  • HIS NORMAL SPEAKING VOICE IS JUST HILARIOUS, YOU CAN HEAR THE LINGERING OF MOST OF THE CHARACTERS IN IT!!!

  • What a classic entertainer for a guest and a classic schmuck for a host.

  • Seeing him do Jack Benny's Maxwell was awesome! Such an iconic sound effect.

  • I got to meet him around '82 when I was 13. He was touring colleges and doing his impressions. I still have the autograph he gave me.

  • @takman17 You keep that for the rest of your life. That is a very lucky thing to have and I really wish I had it so I could put it on my wall.

  • Mel Blanc: voice actor, professional beatboxer (08:00)

  • Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy disliked this.

  • @Beatlesfangoogle Chip and Dale recently disliked this as well.

  • Btw one person dosent like wabbits;)

  • This is awesome:D i love mel blanc, so many voices died with him:( rest in peace-3 would have been fun to met him:)

  • i HATE that i never got to see/meet him in real life, that would've been a great honour

  • An amazing man...I iwhs I was alive when he was.

  • damn no speedy hes my favorite

  • All hail Mel Blanc!! He's been gone all too long.

  • A legend and a genius!!!

  • This is one performer I will ALWAYS miss!!

  • wow paul and dave did that sigh routine during a recent interview with paris hilton.

  • LOL o my childhood lives

  • A true legend!

  • A talented man.

  • 3:48 :DDD pig

  • Tweetie Pie? 0:08

  • Mel Blanc is very funny!

  • Epic LEgend. After he died it took 4 people to do what he did alone

  • LOL oh my god, look at dave! look at his hair! xD

  • Who's the one goof who didn't like this?

  • @thebob01 Well hey, 152,830 views and only 1 dislike...

  • they encarved "thats all folks!" on his grave

    wow what a legend

  • @CodyLee3218 its called engraved ..idiot

  • @briplun Please consider the age of the person making the comment before labeling him/her an idiot. Save the insults for something sports related.

  • @MCOneMan ok ,,,

  • one person didnt have a REAL childhood

  • Watching this always makes me cry. Mel Blanc is truly a comic LEGEND!

His passing away was a tragic loss to the entertainment industry, his fans, and to the world.

GOD bless and rest your soul, Mr. Blanc. THANK YOU for your work.

    Dave

    TheToonPirate54

  • Mel Blanc is a legend I still am a huge fan of the classic Looney Tunes and no one can ever top Mr.Blanc's voices and that's the bottom line.

  • Letterman is a such a putz.

  • did you realize that the presenter was nerves

  • what year was this?

  • @lazyxmoo definately before 89

  • the true master voiceover guy.

  • Who the hell is the one person that did not like this video??? Are you insane?

  • This must be from 1982 since that's when 1001 Rabbit Tales came out. Late Night debuted that year so David hadn't been interviewing for very long.

  • 5:07 Mel Blanc AND Hunter S. Thompson on the same set? What a show

  • 400 voices....WOW how is that possibles

  • Love Mel..But..I hate Mr.Bedwetter Man!

  • Love Mel..But..I Mr.Bedwetter Man!

  • 1 person needs to take a bath.

  • rip mel blanc u will be missed

  • D-O-G that spells "chicken", go get em

    That cracks me up.

  • truely a man of great talent

  • R.I.P

  • Oh my goodness, Mel was so hilarious, he was so lively! He just brightens up the whole studio, makes sense considering the fact that he brings all those classic cartoons to life. What a swell guy, a real inspiration!

  • a talent and a legend

  • David Letterman's first day on the job? Like damn.

  • 1 person went to hell instead of heaven where blanc is now

  • Unbelievable, someone actually disliked this. -_-

  • he sure gave me many hours of joy...I am in my 50's and I still laugh out loud with Foghorn Leghorn, Yosemite Sam, Bugs, Daffy etc.

  • No dislikes, fucking great.

  • I realize this interview is from decades ago (Mel Blanc passed away in 1989), but it is a perfect example of just what a horrible interviewer David Letterman really is. He didn't seem the least bit interested in interviewing this legend in voice animation and it showed. It was a painful interview to watch.

I am no fan of Jay Leno either so compare this interview with the one Mel Blanc did with Johnny Carson to see how it could have been handled and draw your own conclusions.

  • @AllHallowsEve3113 Agreed! Mel Blanc shows a lot of talent here, but something about this interview seems... flat.

  • Love love love Mel Blanc.

  • Comment removed

  • Letterman is a quick wit, but has the failing of always having to be the center of attention rather than a receptive host. Mel Blanc was the most brilliant, innovative voice man in the business. His repertoire of vocal characterizations was astonishing, each distinct and vivid, and amazingly funny. His talent lifted Warner Brothers "Looney Toons" to the peak of cartoon entertainment.

  • This video has been up for almost 2 years and not one dislike (so far) I'm beginning to have hope for humanity after all :-)

  • Fascinating indeed!

  • Geez... why don't y'all stop whining about Letterman? This was DECADES ago! He's not that guy anymore... in any event, he's a thousand times funnier and a million times smarter and a billion times better interviewer than Leno. Why don't you guys STFU and go watch jay? He's right up your alley.

  • It really says something that no one has disliked this. What a legend!

  • Click on the video of Johnny Carson interviewing Mel Blanc. Carson is light years ahead of Letterman and the interview is so entertaining when the host doesn't act like he just downed a box of laxatives.

  • Letterman is WORTHLESS. He is the perfect example of a comedian who couldn't last outside of the 80's. Richard Belzer....Richard Lewis....Bobcat.....Leno....

Jesus, it's horrible. I wish someone would pay me millions of dollars for being completely unfunny and a shit host......

  • Imagine having a gramps like him :)

  • Mel Blanc was a legend. The saddest picture I ever saw was the one where there was a spotlight on an empty microphone and all of the well-known characters he voiced over the years were hanging their heads in sadness. I remember crying when I saw that picture. But what an honor it was to have met him once in my life...I'll never forget it. He did Bugs and Foghorn Leghorn for me.

  • Si...

  • Letterman stinks. Whoever said he was funny? Mel Blanc puts him to shame.

  • He is hilarious! Love him and his voice :) Its such a pitty that today's cartoon voices aren't nearly as unique as the ones such as Mel's.

  • Nice. Which year is this?

  • Mel is amazing, but Letterman ruins this whole thing.

  • Ah, Mel. Still missed to this day.

  • How has Letterman had a career? Not funny, not handsome, not interesting and not interested. So suburban. His hosting of the Academy Awards was just ghastly. He is a total bore. Poor old Mel who is marvellous is facing a wall of total dreary dull boring idiot.

  • Can Letterman be any more fucking lackluster?

  • If i was david letterman, i would of been alot more excited to see Mel Blanc. He seems like he doesn't even want to be there.

  • that david lad is horrible ....

  • great clip! just forgot to put the year. kind of a big oversight there.

  • mel shoulda went th th thats all folks at the end but it was cool anyways

  • @burnz2188 Sorry for correcting you, but it's not nice to use that word.

  • Mel Blanc the legend

  • his normal voice sounds like sylvester

  • People are so down on Dave in this clip. I wonder how early in his career it is.

  • Bring back real cartoons, g- dammit!

  • @edelenwolf69 LOL!.. I know what you mean. Thank goodness for networks like Boomerang and Classic cartoon network. There will never be another one like him.

  • @edelenwolf69 there starting to come back

  • Mel Blanc and Warner Brothers cartoons should be regarded as a Institution and a National Treasure. These cartoons date back to a time peroid that exist no more and what really sucks is the don't or won't show them anymore. Not even on the so - called lame o Cartoon Network. I guess all the political correct people thought it was too violent? So we are stuck once again with the crap we have today. People have no taste. The music sucks, the actors suck, the politicains and comedians all suck .

  • @edelenwolf69 loved these cartoons... but i think they arent on because there's no money to be made from them. nothing marketable that they can turn into new toys every month.. i hate current cartoons.

  • Mel Blanc was one of the best comedians who ever lived. Without him, Looney Tunes wouldn't have been half as good. One of those guys you wish you'd gotten to know personally.

  • This is pure greatness

  • I think Mel Blanc and David Letterman are both great!

  • Mel was a fucking genius, that man had sooooo much talent. r.i.p mel

  • Bless his heart :) (Mel Blanc's of course)

Could David Letterman have been any less welcoming? Geez

  • They were taught to let the guest be the funny one. But, it was a strangeish interview.

  • @IHABC8 No there's a difference between being hospitable and straight up rude. All I thought of him was that he was sitting there thinking "why am I wasting my time with a cartoon voice over guy? I'm too good for this" He really treated him pretty poorly- which is really sad considering Mel Blanc is one of the few VA's you can tell honestly loved what he did, and wasn't stingy about saying lines.

  • Unmatched talent in his field. It will be a long time if ever, we see another voice talent as gifted as Mel was. The Looney Tunes were never the same after his passing. It was a sad, sad day.....like a family member died.

  • Nobody can beat Mel Blanc's 1000 voices. But I bet Frank Welker is next in line.

  • letterman only laughs at his own jokes never anyone elses coz hes a douche

  • People think he's the best host on t.v...some do. But, you're a pussy. SOOOO?

  • @IHABC8 guess youre one of those groupies that like to suck old mens dicks and become their humn shield, hahaha pathetic.

  • My cock is not for sale. Sorry. I saw that ONE comment. Not the one you sent me. But, I remember you. Your sentence made no sense. I DIDN'T read your comment. You say douche? Do the Brits SAY douche? Apparently they've borrowed it from us. Yiu Brits SOUND intelligent, but some just aren't. I mean, look at YOU. But, me being mostly English, I'll let it slide. What are you like 17? 16?

  • @IHABC8 Wow use spellcheck. Also if you use dictionary at how to spell douche which you are. And english gave you immigrants a language. If i am 16 then im twice your age n intelligence. Now i got better things to do like scratch my sack, amd no you cant teabag me you homo.

  • I didn't read your message. I saw that you can't spell and. But the m and n are right next to eachother. But, I remember you. You're the kid? who won't give up? 16? 17? You can tell me. Winning is fun.

  • @IHABC8 haha wow your real dumb. why are you replying if you didnt read message? and how can you quote waht you did not read?.

typical internet moron, you have lost. Get over it loser.

  • I didn't read your message. You've lost. It's over. Douche.

  • I didn't even think you people knew what a douche was. You're one. OR use that word.

  • @IHABC8 your sentence doesnt even make sense, try going back to school, or finishing it before trying to be a thug on youtube bitch.

  • the only thing missing from my childhood was mel blanc reading me a bedtime story. i think i woulda been alot happier today

  • dave is in the presence of a legend, and as usual, he acts like a fucking jackass

  • I love Mel Blanc!!!Words cannot describe how much I appreciate him!

    Btw..Mel would make a great beat boxer!x]

  • Dave seems to be bored with Mel. He is such a talent, wonder what Daves problem was?
