Hi Dave! I have a problem with tyranids. Can you give me some tips? My friend has the following: 1 hive tyrant, 1 trygon, a couple of more monstrous creatures, some gorgoyles, and some regular core troops. gamesworkshop, immma tell you the truth, is not a cheap hobby, nothing is "budget friendly".... tho i can say that : imperial guards concentrate a lot on tanks, so you will need to buy a lot of tanks, so thats a lot of $60 and maybe more, chaos depends on cult, how you like to play etc, so the prices vary a lot, depends on what you buy haha

@Gigaindy 2 FW squads are a solid start. I'd get...some more battlesuits to make 1 squad of three that are different types of weaponary to allocate different wounds to the ones you wish too, as well as the multitracker thing to shoot at different squads. I rolled a pathfindersquad with railrifles which were actually kinda nice. I'd get at least two hammerhead tanks at least-- they are really really nasty.

Dave I love my Tzeetch daemon prince and Khorne lord combination. People don't know whether to shoot at the land raider with my Khorne lord and and Khorne Bezererkers or at the daemon prince. By the time they decide which to shoot its to late. On the other hand I was thinking about running a chaos sorcerer and a daemon prince. I've got an idea for chaos terrain in the last level of dawn of war 2 there is a terrain that gets torn appart by the warp (big rocks whit chains attacht to them rise al over the place) the boss is the great unclean one but that doesn't matter if you put some worship thing in it i think it can get pretty cool

@sdharris1 one you can check the faq and see what it says. Now yes the 14 squads are one troop choice but if they act independant of each other after being deployed then they would count as additional troop choices, meaning you could legally violate the force org chart with your platoons but DoW hampers you. Best advice deploy heavy wepons squads in terrain, hq unit hidden safely out of sight and roll the rest of the army on in chimeras. IG should never leave home without armor support!

here is a serious question i have had this problem since they brought out the new imperial guard codex and getting dawn of war games. the problem is a imperial guard infantry platoon has to deploy as a whole (ast the platoon is one troop choice) despite i could have upto 14 diffrent squads and dawn of war say only two troop choices. now to add more confution to this question even my local Games workshop staff keep changing their minds about it. they say codex over rules the rule book

I play grey knights and having a bit of a problem with IG and its devil dogs. He keeps in reserves so my assassin sniper can't shoot them and by that time my assassin is dead form having half of his army shooting it. It keeps moving 12" so I rarely hit it and the only I got to shoot it is my razor back because my storm raven is shooting the rest of the tanks. Suggestions for the Dark Angel player:

1) Ravenwing idea as Dave suggested. Take out his big stuff first with Land speeders and then scythe through his army with bikes. You have Relentless so use it.

2) Deathwing. Load up on either Close Combat or Ranged Terminators and atleast one chainfist if you're ranged. Then use your head for the Deathwing Assault.

And Dave, Dark Angels are not as close to vanilla marines as some say. LD 10 across the board, Sammael + Belial. Lack of Vanilla stuff.

@TheBackfiringVirus Than I would look at the rest of my force. If I have enough tank hunting units I take the sniper and if I have enough troop killers I take the broadside. Maybe a tip, I use some battlesuits with missile pods as transport hunters. If you dont fight real heavy tank ( armor 13/14) dont take a broadside. With the missils you only glance on 5+ on armor 12 but with a couple of pods you will kill things.
