PRS stock pickups are amazing and have in my opinion the best tone out of any pickup. And his part of Why Georgia isn't that good.

no it wouldnt....theres alot more to a guitars sound that just the pick ups....such as in other cases when you put the exact same type of pick up on a diferent guitar as the pervious one the tone will stiull change due to the type of wood on the body the type of wood used in the neck, and how many peices there are to the whole guitar.... and maybe he loves the playabilty of the guitar more than a shitty, "150$ guitar"

I can't wait to get my EMG 85 & 89 in. I haven't played an 89 yet. I prefer the 85 over the 81 in the bridge. It definitely sounds bigger where the 81 is alot tighter and more focused sounding.
as far as passive pickups bareknuckle make the best but, if your talkin tone for tone, the only bare knuckles to come close to emg is the warpigs i think.
in the end its personal preference and what tone you like, its your guitar after all as they say

How many PRS guitars do you own?Or should I ask how many CE-24's?I see they seem to all have the Only option on them the 3-way toggle and push pull tone switch.I know You told me no taping.
I removed the 5 way's out of a few of them for the 3 way toggle. I prefer it live. I have a cstm22, cstm24, 513, and three ce-24's. the 513 and cstm22 don't have videos.

in a gibson, you should be able to pull it off, and i doubt in a prs, because you only have one volume that can 'tap' into single coil mode. there may be a way, but its way too early for that

because the 89 can coil tap so you can get a different tone, which is usually a better clean tone (if you need it for live). That way, you don't have to switch guitars. More tone options = better pickup.
PRS + EMG, can't get any better. Killer. Love the EMG 89 for both positions, mostly neck, and have the 81 in the bridge of my own signature model, love the 89 - totally 2 pickups in one, and the sound of the 85 in hum mode, if EMG had one like that (dual mode) with the sound of an EMG 60 I would faint. Great setup. You should look into the new PRS SC250, seems like your style. They're killer, came out this year at NAMM when I was there. See you on tour man, keep playing!
i saw the sc250, how heavy are they? We used a singlecut (w/ zebra pickups) a few years back in the studio (during the gibson BS) and it sounded HUGE but the weight of it turned me away. How does the emg 60 compare?
The 250s are the best sounding guitars I've ever heard even without the EMGs.I LOVE active pickups but those don't even need them.The 60s have a cleaner more bottom heavy sound and for soloing on the neck pickup are just supurb.Yeah the singlecut Trem is very comperable to the 250 actually but the tone is more rich&full on the 250s for rock.EMG now has the all new 81 which is the same as an 89 but w/the tone of a 81 for the bridge position.Can't recall the model.
Actually not much more heavy than the Cu24. Kind of like a McCarty. Anyway I think the most versatile system out now is the new 81 (whatever it was listed as) with the 89s. They are amazing. The only thing out there close is the PRS 513 model. Come to think of it the new Singlecut Hollowbody with Piezo with those EMGs would be insane. But that's my opinion.

Yea it's a good guitar, it's a PRS. And yes emgs are good. But nothing can replace a PRS pickup. Especially the dragonfly II pickups.

Most likely not, but you *can* daisy chain two 9V's to make it 18v, it'll be a bit more detailed sound.

Hey I was wondering specifically, why you prefer the 81/89 set up over the 81/85?

because the 89 can coil tap so you can get a different tone, which is usually a better clean tone (if you need it for live). That way, you don't have to switch guitars. More tone options = better pickup.

PRS + EMG, can't get any better. Killer. Love the EMG 89 for both positions, mostly neck, and have the 81 in the bridge of my own signature model, love the 89 - totally 2 pickups in one, and the sound of the 85 in hum mode, if EMG had one like that (dual mode) with the sound of an EMG 60 I would faint. Great setup. You should look into the new PRS SC250, seems like your style. They're killer, came out this year at NAMM when I was there. See you on tour man, keep playing!

i saw the sc250, how heavy are they? We used a singlecut (w/ zebra pickups) a few years back in the studio (during the gibson BS) and it sounded HUGE but the weight of it turned me away. How does the emg 60 compare?

The 250s are the best sounding guitars I've ever heard even without the EMGs.I LOVE active pickups but those don't even need them.The 60s have a cleaner more bottom heavy sound and for soloing on the neck pickup are just supurb.Yeah the singlecut Trem is very comperable to the 250 actually but the tone is more rich&full on the 250s for rock.EMG now has the all new 81 which is the same as an 89 but w/the tone of a 81 for the bridge position.Can't recall the model.

Actually not much more heavy than the Cu24. Kind of like a McCarty. Anyway I think the most versatile system out now is the new 81 (whatever it was listed as) with the 89s. They are amazing. The only thing out there close is the PRS 513 model. Come to think of it the new Singlecut Hollowbody with Piezo with those EMGs would be insane. But that's my opinion.
