i watched sundown yesterday. I looked for stars at 2 AM this morning. A squirrel feeds on my bird feeder. My Norfolk pine tree raises it's limbs to heaven in praise. i see how much more He is than anything we can say or do. It is humbling to be so small, but what He did for me, the price He paid, how can i ever love like that?

I can't take it. I love Avalon--the new and the OLD--but IMO they've never been able to sing this song EVEN CLOSE to how it sounds on the album. I know studio and live performances are different, but I think this one is kinda challenging for them to sing well in a live setting. Still love the song though.
you know, for sure, they sound better on the record... and no doubt, this song is def challenging... but there is something so powerful in watching them sing live... you can absolutely feel that they are singing to Christ and I find that more moving than the polished blends of the studio mix (no knock on the record, it is just as powerful; in a different way is all)
Thank God for Avalon!! I love their individual voices and their harmonies. It's true that the group's roster has changed many times, but the songs remain powerful.
And how about Melissa's high note! (4:16-4:23) WOW! What a wonderful, spirit-filled performance.

Melissa Greene is amazing. I totally agree that Long has trouble with the notes. If they would have given the solo to Jody, I think he could sing it better. Thats just me.

Ok...for one this group has done multiple free concerts where they have charged ZERO for entry. 2nd ticket prices are not expensive to their concerts at all - when u think they take time away from their children and families and do this ministry 365 days a year, how else do you expect them to survive but by making a couple of bucks for doing a show?? God is using them to fulfill HIS message and is using them to bring millions to him!!!

Religion poisons everything when it is not kept personal! Everyone has their own idea of what god, gods, goddess, fairies, unicorns, etc...And some of us would rather live a rational life of love and reason free from the hate religion teaches.

Ok, first of all, I doubt you know any of these performers on a personal enough level to justify calling them "sleeze bags." I don't know them either, but I'm at least willing to give people the respect of being non-judgmental.

Secular or not they are performing for profit! And since they are performing for profit using Jesus or god or both or whatever I doubt Jesus would be very happy about it considering what he did to those who did the same thing when he was alive...So, yes sleezebags!
Jesus never said anything about not financing your ministry.....I think you're referring to the passage in the Bible where he threw the merchants out of the temple. He was upset that they were using His Father's house as a place of common commerce, not that they were making a profit.
David writes in Psalms, "let everything that has breath praise the Lord," and I believe that's the bigger picture with Christian artists--the fact that they use their profits to further the gospel of Christ.

OK...Like I said I am not the one who needs to define the book in a way that meets my lifestyle. I simply read it like all other religious text as written.
If you think Jesus would agree with making profit of god then you have nothing to worry about...You have nothing to worry about anyway but that is a my world view. Because I agree 110% with them making money of others beliefs. I think it borders on an ethical question because so many are SO vulnerable when it comes to their faith.

I understand these groups probably share in similar beliefs so it may not be as bad as other folks who use religion for profit...What do you think of people like Rick Warren and John Hagee who make millions of preaching and selling DVDs, CDs, Books and other stuff? I guess the same thinking applies to them as well?

I do not deny their music is very uplifting to those who believe in the lyrics...I actually like their music. The point I brought up is one of profiting off god/Jesus...If they used their profits for cost and then donated the rest to charity that would be dif...However, this is not the case so I asked the question "What would Jesus think about such acts as using him for profit" I understand our culture is all about profit but what would Jesus think if he were here?
He would count the profit as a blessing as long as they are bringing honor and glory to Him. They have bills and all to pay just like the rest of us. They're not profiting off of Jesus, they're just using the talents He gave them to spread His message and in return He blesses them by providing for them

I think it sounds really good and I like Greg Long in all of the songs he sings. You also have to think that this song, when it was arranged, was made to fit Michael's voice. It hard for someone with Greg's voice to hit an oddly-arranged style first verse - think about how other people would sound singing the exact same verse - it is very tough to sound like the original singer and you are probably just used to hearing michael's voice attached to the song. BUT AVALON STILL ROCKS big time

Melissa Greene is amazing. I totally agree that Long has trouble with the notes. If they would have given the solo to Jody, I think he could sing it better. Thats just me.

Melissa Greene is simply INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!! Kinda wish Greg was a better singer though. Yikes. (Not doubting that he loves the Lord or that he's a great person, just wish he could sing)

Ok...for one this group has done multiple free concerts where they have charged ZERO for entry. 2nd ticket prices are not expensive to their concerts at all - when u think they take time away from their children and families and do this ministry 365 days a year, how else do you expect them to survive but by making a couple of bucks for doing a show?? God is using them to fulfill HIS message and is using them to bring millions to him!!!

Religion poisons everything when it is not kept personal! Everyone has their own idea of what god, gods, goddess, fairies, unicorns, etc...And some of us would rather live a rational life of love and reason free from the hate religion teaches.
I have a wondeful full life that is not based on Bronze Age myths. So, I do not have to redefine a book I act like I live by in order to make my life feel complete. I really do feel sorry for you and your misguided view of the world. Good Luck!

Ok, first of all, I doubt you know any of these performers on a personal enough level to justify calling them "sleeze bags." I don't know them either, but I'm at least willing to give people the respect of being non-judgmental.
Second, if you really believe Avalon is doing their ministry for a profit, you are sadly mistaken. They could make so much more money by promoting a secular theme (they have the talent), but they'd rather use their talents to glorify God. No problem there!

Secular or not they are performing for profit! And since they are performing for profit using Jesus or god or both or whatever I doubt Jesus would be very happy about it considering what he did to those who did the same thing when he was alive...So, yes sleezebags!

Jesus never said anything about not financing your ministry.....I think you're referring to the passage in the Bible where he threw the merchants out of the temple. He was upset that they were using His Father's house as a place of common commerce, not that they were making a profit.
David writes in Psalms, "let everything that has breath praise the Lord," and I believe that's the bigger picture with Christian artists--the fact that they use their profits to further the gospel of Christ.

OK...Like I said I am not the one who needs to define the book in a way that meets my lifestyle. I simply read it like all other religious text as written.
If you think Jesus would agree with making profit of god then you have nothing to worry about...You have nothing to worry about anyway but that is a my world view. Because I agree 110% with them making money of others beliefs. I think it borders on an ethical question because so many are SO vulnerable when it comes to their faith.

I understand these groups probably share in similar beliefs so it may not be as bad as other folks who use religion for profit...What do you think of people like Rick Warren and John Hagee who make millions of preaching and selling DVDs, CDs, Books and other stuff? I guess the same thinking applies to them as well?
Then why do Muslims give their religious text away to people like me but Christians sell theirs?

I do not deny their music is very uplifting to those who believe in the lyrics...I actually like their music. The point I brought up is one of profiting off god/Jesus...If they used their profits for cost and then donated the rest to charity that would be dif...However, this is not the case so I asked the question "What would Jesus think about such acts as using him for profit" I understand our culture is all about profit but what would Jesus think if he were here?

He would count the profit as a blessing as long as they are bringing honor and glory to Him. They have bills and all to pay just like the rest of us. They're not profiting off of Jesus, they're just using the talents He gave them to spread His message and in return He blesses them by providing for them

I guess all that matters is if you feel comfortable with what you have said...It does not bother me either way. However, they are not the only one who sells Jesus to the masses for profit. So, if what they do is OK then any profit made in the name of Jesus is OK.

dude. you are just unbelievable man. First off, like blazinfury said, THEY NEED TO PAY BILLS TOO. They have family, a house, a car, and so many other things to take care of. Dude their first priority is God. They are truly an anointed group and they dont look to profit off of Jesus. And plus, they have to pay their tithes just like the rest of us. So a certain percent of everything they make is going back to God anyways. So your saying that Christian bookstores are wrong as well?

Of course, they could pay for their cost of performing and their meals and the rest could go to charity or the churc...That would be working for their god. But we both know this is not the case.
Yes, the book stores would fall under the same question. So would all the Christian merchandise that is for sell everywhere.

yes Jesus would approve it. He obviously does approve of it, because if this was against his will, he wouldnt allow them to be annointed as they are. People are inspired and blessed by their music. If this was against God's will then he wouldnt allow them or any Christain artist to go this far with their ministry

I have a friend who got into the business of selling Christian trinkits and "Remember" T-shirts, stickers, and stuff...His business exploded and he is an Agnostic. He does not do anything disrespectable he simply saw a market and capitalized on it. Now, I am not saying Avalon uses this model AT ALL. What I am saying is your comment about Jesus stepping in is foolish!

Just like pastors earn their living from doing God's work - how is this different? They are merely spreading God's truth and glorifying His name and doing His work - which in return makes them deserving of the profits they earn.

Janna and Jody are both the original members (the two without solos in this particular song). Melissa and Greg (Janna's husband) are both new. However, this was the first song that Melissa actually recorded with Avalon - so her voice is the same voice that you originally heard with this song.

You all are so annointed! This song means so much to me personally. I grew up a pastor's child and heard and knew all of the stories and rituals and etiquette etc. But it wasnt until I realized He was actually all I had that I appreciated the God I served. I think it sounds really good and I like Greg Long in all of the songs he sings. You also have to think that this song, when it was arranged, was made to fit Michael's voice. It hard for someone with Greg's voice to hit an oddly-arranged style first verse - think about how other people would sound singing the exact same verse - it is very tough to sound like the original singer and you are probably just used to hearing michael's voice attached to the song. BUT AVALON STILL ROCKS big time

For one, it isn't the same guy singing as you heard on the cds. Second, I disagree. Avalon is nothing less than AMAZING live. They are one of the very very few who can actually pull off a live performance. Honestly, how many artists sound exactly like they do when they have a recording studio behind their voices?
