@Coyote2k5 People are only summoned if there is someone available. If not you'll fight the NPC that uses claws.

I didnt have internet for the PS3 when i first played this game through. So the second time, i did this game with internet and got summoned, cracked the fuck up when i killed a player as a boss. He was annoying QQ kept using firestorm, i eventually just spammed attack.

Idk, the old monk is like fighting an invading black phantom, which I always struggle with. Dragon God is the easiest boss ever, you just gotta run back and forth and push some buttons. It's like a battle from shadow of the colossus

this guy is very easy if you a knight. He can bairly scratch you. A large shield can blog like 8 of his mele attacks, and you just start circaling him when he casts the magic. Then hit him only once. for he will do the backflip out of your reach then you will wast energy.

Hahaha I was summoned for this and litterally fought the other guy for 15 minutes. Just back and forth til he tried to run and range me but I back stabbed him out of existence.

Loved hiding in the corner, waiting with perfect stealth (what i mean is thief's ring with a spell to hides you presence form enemies) then using northern regalia (don't know if i spelled it right). The I'd back attack after using second chance, needless to say it was fun to get a message say who much off a cheap ass i was or how i was a dick. To say it was fun for me would be the understatement of the year.

Hope they keep it in the next game.

i use an estoc,full rogues gear,gold mask,parry dagger whenever i get summoned as the black phantom. i just stand still,parry,then they burst into flames and die from the counter >:D

I recently played as the Old Monk and I beat my host as well as the Blue Phantom that was accompanying him. One used a scraping spear (thus all my weapons broke) and the other used anti-magic field. A big stroke of luck if you ask me :)

If playing as monk, Hide behind the pillar by the door, cast moving soul arrow, get ready with firestorm.

As soon as they step through that fog, they WILL die by the time they get through the fog. It's harsh and cruel, but thats what this game is about. :D

@13thcolossi Hate to burst your bubble, but it's not so hard to counter that type of strategy. One could stroll up to the fog, and if one can't see the boss, one could cast God's Wrath and cripple the opponent, 9 times out of 10.

I remember when I first played as Old Monk. Slapped down a Red Soul Sign in 3-1, got summoned in 3-3 and said "wtf...?" Anyway, the guy comes up, we screw around for five minutes before I finally got serious, riposted him with a +5 Dark Knight's Shield and North Regalia. 779 hp damage and he died. Poor guy.

I'm no expert in RPGs and I know even little of "building" my character for pvp or pv......npc XD but i do know that this was fun to be someones boss :) I still lose every time but the way i look at it is that I'm making someone else very happy with my demise hahaha. Oh and I assume they get a trophy too? Yeah, see? It's all good :D

Ive played the old monk as the boss at least 20 times - still undefeated. Its the best way to do PvP as a Black Phantom and not lose a soul level. Best player got my health down to 30% (1500HP). Worst player died from one well placed stab in the back... LMFAO. Every player should play as the boss... tons of fun.

I was lucky when I first actually fought this boss. It was just some guy with a bow and a spear. I just had to keep breaking his guard with my dragon claymore and he was alight.
