We tried this pose yesterday at yoga class and I just didn't get it. Actually had the teacher concentrating on me the whole time trying to get me to understand the pose and I just didn't get it. This video explaination really helps. Can't wait to get home and try it.
Can somebody please tell me whether the arms are supposed to be straight, or slightly bent? I can finally do this pose (after much practice, yay!) but I'm noticing a slight bend in my elbows. Is this correct form? Thank you.
Thank you Tara! Thanks to this video, I have added daily crow pose to my practice and I can now ease into the pose with a steady mind and body. It feels exhilarating! My first serious balance pose. Yay!
I used to be able to do it when I was in sixth grade then I knocked my self over one day doing it and my lips bleed, never able to do it again. How can I conquer this fear, Tara?
@paengfor I agree with the suggestion about the pillows. I did that for awhile when I first started doing crow and it was so helpful to know that they're there to help if I topple over. Eventually I felt confident enough that I don't need them any longer but they're a great security blanket to start!
Thank you so so much, Tara. Crow pose is something I am struggling with for the past 3 years (I know that's a long time.... but it just doesn't seem to click), I am pretty flexible otherwise.
But I am not going to give up.... I am going to keep trying :)
@nosorog91 improves total body balance, increases shoulder, arm and wrist strength, stretches back, and tones abdominals. plus, it's an inversion which has dozens of health benefits.
Could you do more like this please: like I struggle with doing the eagle pose, combined with balancing on one leg. Could you do similair paced video on learning to lift leg up to thigh while balancing on other?
This was great! It's always nice to find out that a person is doing things properly. I managed to hold the pose longer than usual with your advice--yay! Thanks Tara :)
That was awesome, thank you! I have been trying Crow Pose now for 2 months and actually I was just able to successfully hold it yesterday! I was so proud and excited, yay!
