  • Wow, 7 months...cool. Longer then my last relationship :) Take care buddy - I hope you have a long and fullfilling life!

Seriously buddy, you're one of a kind. You are a hardcore Xtian who I can debate...I'm in Texas right now, and most of my relatives are hardly that. Anyway I'll try and drop in periodically and make a comment or so...

    Peace out!

  • You live in Texas? So do I. Funny. Stop by again anytime. Lol! Who knows? We could be neighbors and not know it. The world is getting smaller all the time with the internet.

Thank you for the wishes for my long and fulfilling life. It's one of the nicest things anyone has ever told me, and I ain't young anymore. I hope the same thing for you.

    Blessings

  • Nope, I was born in Texas and left when I was four - Austin. I still got that Texas attitude of 'Don't mess with texas' though. Unfortunately most of the relatives are down here...I get along nicely...hahaha...If you are ever in the Twin Cities maybe we can meet up for a drink, who knows. Take care buddy, live life to its fullest and have a great time! :)

  • The water trough was bought brand new just for baptizing, until the new church was built with a nice baptismal. The sisters had the option of being the last to be baptized in the water trough or being the first to be baptized in the brand new baptismal. They chose the old outdoor method. Either way symbolizes the very same thing.

  • Yes, I was aware of that Texann46. It was special to my sisters not just because of being baptized but because they were the last two people to be baptized in this manner at this church. I wish I had of had sound on this vid at the time. Are you a member of the church there? If so, it's possible I've met you. Thank you for commenting. Blessings!

  • a water trough for bovine? Seems a bit uneventful, doesn't it? Okay.

  • The container is not the important part of this. The symbolism of the water is. I can assure you, it was a big event for my sisters.

  • Reading the Bible is the best place to start in seeking the truth. I've studied other books relating to the Bible such as The Women of The Bible and Lands of the Bible.

  • Once I read 30 days to understanding the bible, I might get to these. Seem okay at least from a couple of quick google searches. Wow...you guys are smart!

  • Another follower of GWB. Great, just what this country needs....

  • I believe a baptism represents followers of JESUS not GWB. Thanks for the comment.

  • Sorry for the comment in retrospect. Since my cousin same back from Iraq hurt (not significantly), my view of people being born again has changed from indifferent to not high. Honestly, I hope you follow WHAT the bible says, and not what some crooked Pastor interprets it to be...

  • Thank you. Your willingness to apologize in retrospect tells me you are a decent person. I assure you that I do not accept any MAN'S (or woman's) interpretation of the Bible on faith. My faith is placed in Our Lord. I hope your cousin is doing well, physically and spiritually. War is Hell.

  • No worries, all good in the Lukas clan. However, I have to somewhat disagree with your comment. You interpret the bible partially based on your background (and the church/pastor you attend). Obviously, there are a number of different versions of the bible. KJV (in terms of the right) and other study bibles which are not so difficult to interpret.

  • Anyway I like this discussion...anything more to add (yes, I am reading the bible a bit these days, just let me know). Also I would like to thank you for responding not in total outrage, and saying the GWB is great in your response!.

  • I am currently studying a book by Max E. Anders titled 30 Days to Understanding The Bible. Obviously that sounds simplistic and I approached it with a healthy dose of skeptiscim. The author states that given 15 mins a day for 30 days one will get an overview of the basics. Learning of the major men & women, major events and major points of geography. I am currently in chapter 7 & the study is making reading the Bible a more personal experience.

  • After a quick Amazon search I might very well check this out. You know when you have hardcore Christians rating it only 3/5, saying it falls short of expectations, and a couple of 5/5, you found a good book. THANKS! I'll eventually get around to reading it.

  • Just curious if you read the book that was recommended by Torridgirl yet? It is very interesting to me and I've enjoyed it immensely. Hope you are doing ok these days and your holidays were great!

  • What the hell is a GWB?

  • I believe the reference to GWB was referring to George W. Bush.

  • I have to give it too you, at least you're among one of the brightest 10% of fundies.

McCain will be beat in November, even though your church is gearing up to fight those 'evil' Dems!

I'll drop you a message on Nov 4th, once the results are in...you have backed a loser in accepting GWB and McCain!

  • Lol! Well, the 1st sentence is what my mother would have called a backwards compliment. I don't attend the church that is represented as a member but, as a visitor. Although, I have been made to feel very much at home by the ppl that do belong to it. I don't know where you got the idea that the church is backing GWB & McCain. Or the idea that the church views Dems as evil. Feel free to comment Nov 4th or any other time Christopher. Blessings!

  • There are 60M white evangelicals in this country-85% or so voted for bush. Using some intelligence (lacking in the fundie community) I assumed this church overwhelmingly supports the biggest loser our country has voted for. Dude, you'll hear from me on Nov 5th, when the Reality-BasedCommunity takes over...and has to clean up the mess you guys have messed. As for feeling welcomed - the whole point of these churches is that the person doesn't have to think...clearly they have reached you!

  • I've never voted Bush. I don't know how the rest of the congretion (@ the church of which I don't actually attend)votes. Politics aren't discussed in the times I have visited. The Bible, God & Jesus, & many other subjects related to them are. Believe me...if you are in church & all you get is someone else thinking for you, you're in the wrong church. You are referring to THE CHURCH & not this church or the community of ppl(not bldgs) Jesus calls His Church. The point is of being welcome is Love.

  • Fair enough - let's assume I believe U, You're in the tiny minority!

    Best wishes!

  • Thank you for the best wishes Christopher. I appreciate them and return them to you. Do you realize that you and I have been communicating off and on for over 7 mths now? I almost feel like we're buds. ;)Take care &

    Blessings
