You cake looks delicious. Haha, you could of made me one!(= Also, Betty, I have a quick question to ask you. On a scale from 1 - 20, 1 being "horrible" 10being "Alright, but had better" and a 20 being "Excelent!" What would you rank that Applesauce Spice Cake with Penuche icing?  My personal rank would probably be nearly 17+ out of 20, and I've not even had a cake, that rating is just based on looks!(:

I have lived in the southern US all my life, and we always called this frosting,

"caramel-icing". My mom hated making it for some reason, but that,  with a spice cake recipe was probably the most

requested dessert at my house...thanx for this video, Ms. Betty !

i love applesauce at first i saw this cake and i was like eww this is gonna be one of those cakes that taste really hot it looked really spicy until u said it had applesauce in it :) ya this icing looks like peanut butter a little bit thatz what i thought too but we all know its not now i will be trying this i like trying as many recipes as i can thx betty

This is the perfect companion to this cake! This really takes me back, haven"t thought of penuche frosting since I was a kid, forgot all about it:). Never made it, just had from my mother making it. THANKS Betty for this:)!!!

It is very sweet. You may substitute another icing. Cream Cheese Frosting does have confectioner's sugar, but with all the cream cheese, it lessens the sweetness a bit. Or, use any icing that you particularly like, as long as the flavors don't clash!
