Kay, I'm sure this won't end the war of opinion, but... I think that the best guitarists know to utilize both speed, timing, and technique to have a well rounded playing style. Those who simply use a single type of scale and run up and down it repeatedly are just plain foolish. Almost every guitarist I look up to is able to play very fast, but they use slower riffs and even well placed vibrato notes to give the whole thing a bit more feeling. Also, ENJOY THE VIDEO! :D

I don't rate Slash or any other guitarist. I either like thier stuff or I don't. I think that Slash is great cos he writes and makes up good stuff. I'll listen to some Satriani, and yeah he's a fuckin good guitarist, but it doesn't get me going like Paradise city does, who knows why.., but some have just got it when writing songs and making up guitar parts that the people love to rock out to \m/ Slash is one of those!

@Conficker97, Yeah I agree. Fast is not necessarily good but it can be depending on the guitarists skill. Trivium is a good example of fast thrash with excellent guitars. But then slow songs can be just as difficult. Take Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam. It might not be the most difficult song ever, but he puts passion into the solo instead of just speed picking everything.

I know speed isn't everything but changing speed makes things more interesting and sound cooler so I think being able to play fast is just as essential as being able to play slow.
