If you're going to take your bags, at least get them ready before evacuation! I understand how hard it is to find a replacement passport, car and house keys and medication, but don't bottle neck my galley when you're all rushing to the front with your too-late collected bags! Do what I do, have them ready for evacuation, in easy reach! ;)

It is a bit surprising that they all waited to grab their luggage but how do we know that there weren't important things in those cases? True, the luggage should have been forgotten but you are not the one in their place and dont know what could have been in the cases. If I had important things in my case like important papers, irreplaceable items, money (Don't call me greedy because money doesn't just reappear once lost and, unfortunately, is very important), ect, I would have grabbed the case
@supercellgirl If you do that and the bag falls in the aisle for whatever reason, you will be blocking the way to other people behind you. A lot of people could die just because you tried to take your suitcase. you could even block your own way out. Imagine if everyone thinks like you do..
The safety instructions are there for a reason. The aisle should ALWAYS be clear and ready for PEOPLE evacuating. not for suitcases.

Pues mira, puede ser que sea un avion de Iberia. Pienso que es un viejo 747 de Iberia en Nueva York porque hace años, uno fue evacuado alli.
Tambien, si miras al interior, fes una fila de 3, que es typico del 747, y luego si miras bien, cuando el passajero llega abajo del slide, ves un uniforme negro con un logotipo de estilo de la policia americana.
Pues claro que no hacen caso a las instrucciones de seguridad.
Si yo tengo que dejar abandonado mi equipaje de mano y su contenido prefiero morir en el interior del aparato antes que perder el valioso contenido que suelo transportar.
Además en esas situaciones es un sálvese quien pueda y las que suelen perder antes los nervios son la azafatas y te lo digo por experiencia. No es lo mismo un simulacro que lo real.

I am also a flight attendant, and for the life of me can't understand the lack of urgency here. The passengers themselves might not be aware of what danger they might be in, which is why they probably were trying to gather their belongings, but the flight attendants should have had things moving much faster than this.

Hey guys! i'm a flight attendant for spirit airlines, and umm not sure why this crew wasn't SCREAMING and making sure EVERYONE heard their evacuation demands, "come this way, LEAVE EVERYTHING, jump slide, get away from the plane!" should be heard loud and clear.
People is very stupid: There is some fire in one engine, it could have an explosion and people are more worried about their lugagge than their lives...

Hardly surprising that this is an Iberia flight. I've always found that the staff practically ignore the passengers as much as possible, and the bulk of the passengers ignore every safety briefing. People always seem to be wandering around on Iberia flights like ill disciplined school children. Scary.

Because the safety videos don't go into grand detail as to why certain procedures are necessary, some people just assume the rules are an imposed inconvenience as opposed to that extra 20 seconds which may save your life.

En primer lugar hay comentarios de este video desde hace más de 5 meses, luego no puede ser el accidente de Quito. En segundo lugar si paran la imagen cuando se ve el ala, ésta en el extremo es plana y el A340 tiene una pequeña elevación como el A320, que no sé para qué sirve, pero la tienen. Así que ni es Quito ni es un A340, pero si sabemos que evacúan el avión en 57 segundos.
Iberia es la peor linea aerea que se ha puesto yo creo. Antes solia por viajar en ella cuando iba a Espana!! Yo viaje en este mismo vuelo 6250 en el 2003 y los sistemas hidraulicos tuvieron problemas, y nos tuvieron en pista mas de 4 horas en lo que arreglaban el problema!!! luego cuando ibamos llegando a destino final los airesacondicionados del avion dejaron de funcionar!! jamas volvi a viajar con ellos, ahora cuando voy a Espana voy de JFK-Londres por British, y alli hago escala a Espana!!

Very messy. I can't believe someone's crazy ass filmed this. Where did they find the time? I watch with the eyes of a very experienced cabin crew member. You don't hear the crew, you don't see emergency lights. Very strange. Passengers with luggage. I can't be sure ofcourse, but I think that there were a lot of mistakes made.
if you see once again the video you will see the exits lights on... perhaps you are talking about lights along the corridor but all people was standing there and this is the reason they sem off

I always find it appalling that instead of evacuating the aircraft, people open the overhead bins and pick up their belongings! Had the aircraft been on fire, I sure hope they would have left everything behind.
The only instruction from the crew I heard was a faint "Vamos!" from the flight attendant at the door.
They dont want you inflating your life vests inside because if the plane is filling with water, and your life jacket is inflated, you wont be able to swim under the water to get to the exit. Simple physics!
I completely agree with you. I am a cabin crew member and this shows why people die in air crashes. Listen and watch the demos, know how to unfasten your seatbelt, know where your exits are and if in the water DO NOT inflate lifejacket until outside. It sounds simple but in an emergency, if you haven't listened you won't think about it and could perish. Not a scenario worth even considering.
it makes it easier to get out because if you inflate it inside you wear a giant thing that takes up space and slows you down and if you leave it behind it becomes an obstruction that slows down other people.
i cannot believe people risk their lives just to recieve their parcles and baggage from the overhead bins, my goodness, i mean we have technology, so we can recover the aircraft before anything is damaged!!! ughhh

I am Crew, and that is terrible! what is the point of the cabin crew on that flight, honestly some people just should not be allowed to work on an aircraft!
The crew were just screaming at people to leave the aircraft, and in situations like these, there is a fair chunk of passengers who are in shock and need to be yelled at to move and exit the aircraft. There is no need for courtesy during an emergency evacuation and I believe this is outlined in many crew evacuation procedures.
I have only flown Iberia on short haul but have never felt safe with them. The crew are usually more interested in chatting to each other instead of concentrating on safety matters. I've even seen them ignore hand baggage in exit rows on take off and landing! Needless to say we avoid them now.
You aren't kidding I just flew on Iberia 2 weeks ago from london to Barcelona and when the crew were supposed to be pointing out the nearest exits they were just talking amoungst themselves and right during the landing one of the flight attendence has the cockpit door opened talking to the captain. I'm a flight attendant myself and I just get really PISSED when I see those passengers running away from the plane WITH their luggage. How can people be so stupid! If everybody has evacuated the plane on time, fires will be extinguished and all the luggage collected after. Taking you luggage DELAYS the evacuation which gives fire the chance to get bigger and bigger, resulting in injuries or maybe even fatalities among the passegners who are the last to be evacuated.
An aircraft should be evacuated under 90 seconds. This movie takes 57 seconds and there are still some passengers collecting their hand luggage... I really feel sorry for the crew, but this is just stupid ignorance from the passengers.
the flight attendents dont have much control durring a evacuation on that size of a aircraft. All they can do is to yell out what they are required to say and get people down that slide. The people took their luggage because they didnt know what in the hell was going on so they thought that they were just going to walk out without going down a slide.

Hey guys! i'm a flight attendant for spirit airlines, and umm not sure why this crew wasn't SCREAMING and making sure EVERYONE heard their evacuation demands, "come this way, LEAVE EVERYTHING, jump slide, get away from the plane!" should be heard loud and clear.

Wow, seriously messed up to, stand up and block the already tiny and narrow way out of an aircraft that could go on fire or whatever, to grab that perfume you got at the duty-free...ugh...and where the f*ck is the crew!? shouldnt they be grabbing those assholes and just throw them off the plane? or since its Iberia they have already cleared the plane!!!!?

Hardly surprising that this is an Iberia flight. I've always found that the staff practically ignore the passengers as much as possible, and the bulk of the passengers ignore every safety briefing. People always seem to be wandering around on Iberia flights like ill disciplined school children. Scary.

OH my GOD! How scary!! I can't understand why people were messing about with their belongings!!! HUman nature! What about the poor people behind themj who just wanted to get straight off but they couldn't because of someone's unhealthy obsession with their wealth and belongings!!! Esto si parece un A340, no estoy seguro, la calidad del video no me permite ver bien, pero si es un tetrareactor y corresponde a un avion grande, puede tambien ser un Boeing 747 pero lo dudo mucho.

Because the safety videos don't go into grand detail as to why certain procedures are necessary, some people just assume the rules are an imposed inconvenience as opposed to that extra 20 seconds which may save your life.
I've heard of mothers arguing about having to put their oxygen masks on before their young childs. Apparently they've never heard of Hypoxia. One can only hope their kid has the understanding to save Mum when she goes unconcious. Idiots!

If the plane was on fire or something, it could explode at any second. You should be GETIING THE HELL OUT AND GETTING as far away from the plane as possible. If you want to get your stuff, then fine, you can vaporize in the plane with your precious stuff.

En primer lugar hay comentarios de este video desde hace más de 5 meses, luego no puede ser el accidente de Quito. En segundo lugar si paran la imagen cuando se ve el ala, ésta en el extremo es plana y el A340 tiene una pequeña elevación como el A320, que no sé para qué sirve, pero la tienen. Así que ni es Quito ni es un A340, pero si sabemos que evacúan el avión en 57 segundos.

Iberia es la peor linea aerea que se ha puesto yo creo. Antes solia por viajar en ella cuando iba a Espana!! Yo viaje en este mismo vuelo 6250 en el 2003 y los sistemas hidraulicos tuvieron problemas, y nos tuvieron en pista mas de 4 horas en lo que arreglaban el problema!!! luego cuando ibamos llegando a destino final los airesacondicionados del avion dejaron de funcionar!! jamas volvi a viajar con ellos, ahora cuando voy a Espana voy de JFK-Londres por British, y alli hago escala a Espana!!

Esto es para que las autoridades investiguen a Iberia y a el personal de los aviones. No se puede tomar la evacuacion de esa manera. Si el avion llega a incendiarse dos minutos despues, aun hubiese muerto casi todo el mundo. Una verguenza para Iberia. Iberia deberia considerar que hoy dia nos enteramos de todo gracias a Internet. yo por mi parte evito volar con esa compañia desde hace mucho, su servicio es pesimo y muy cara. este año 4 A-340 ya han tenido problemas aterrizando en Iberia.

hi, i´m cabin attendant and in case of evacuation you must be in your gate. if you take all the luggage you will cover the exit so is worse than let people take with... in my opinion the problem was irresponsability of passengers. they knew they shoud go out without baggage

Parece mentira que esta evacuación se lleve a cabo en Iberia. Y es vergonzoso ver como no se impide a la gente recoger el equipaje, cuando deberían empujarlos literalmente por la rampa. La vida de los demás pasajeros está en juego, no las maletas.

soy tripulante de iberia y me llamó la atención como a ti que salieran con las maletas...pero quitarselas en la puerta lo único que haria sería bloquear la salida . creo que no tuvieron más opcion ante la irresponsabilidad de la gente, y después de la prensa que alabó el que los demás pasajeros dejaran volverse a una niña a por su juguete o un zapato ya no recuerdo bien.. estoy contigo en que en una evacuación hay que salir cuanto antes

i´m flight attendant and they dit it well. in that moment is the only you have to say. you haven't the micro so your voice is for people 2-4 mettres away..next time pay attention when we show you what to do in the demostration.

Very messy. I can't believe someone's crazy ass filmed this. Where did they find the time? I watch with the eyes of a very experienced cabin crew member. You don't hear the crew, you don't see emergency lights. Very strange. Passengers with luggage. I can't be sure ofcourse, but I think that there were a lot of mistakes made.

@buybygb: An airplane of Iberia in 2002 had a fire in a turbine soon after taking off of New York destiny Madrid. At the moment the pilot returned to the airport and carried out a forced landing.
The video corresponds with the moment of the evacuation of the airplane and shows like people, instead of leaving the airplane quickly because the risk that supposes a fire in a loaded fuel airplane, they are more worried about its luggage.

This is absolutely disgraceful!
I always find it appalling that instead of evacuating the aircraft, people open the overhead bins and pick up their belongings! Had the aircraft been on fire, I sure hope they would have left everything behind.
The only instruction from the crew I heard was a faint "Vamos!" from the flight attendant at the door.

They dont want you inflating your life vests inside because if the plane is filling with water, and your life jacket is inflated, you wont be able to swim under the water to get to the exit. Simple physics!

I completely agree with you. I am a cabin crew member and this shows why people die in air crashes. Listen and watch the demos, know how to unfasten your seatbelt, know where your exits are and if in the water DO NOT inflate lifejacket until outside. It sounds simple but in an emergency, if you haven't listened you won't think about it and could perish. Not a scenario worth even considering.

it makes it easier to get out because if you inflate it inside you wear a giant thing that takes up space and slows you down and if you leave it behind it becomes an obstruction that slows down other people.

En Agosto del 2002, el vuelo de Iberia 6250, un Boeing 747, con 375 pasajeros a bordo, que despegaba del aeropuerto JFK de Nueva York, con destino a Madrid Barajas, se vio obligado a aterrizar minutos después, por detectársele fuego en una turbina. Gracias al extraordinario entrenamiento de los pilotos de Iberia, se logró aterrizar el avión en la pista 13R, con el motor ardiendo, salvando la vida a todo el pasaje. La tripulación actuó profesionalmente, y no hubo situaciones de pánico.

The crew were just screaming at people to leave the aircraft, and in situations like these, there is a fair chunk of passengers who are in shock and need to be yelled at to move and exit the aircraft. There is no need for courtesy during an emergency evacuation and I believe this is outlined in many crew evacuation procedures.

I am a flight attendant with 11 yrs experience - the crew on that flight were a total DISGRACE - no shouted commands they should have been traned in.
Thet COULD have controlled the situation by being aggressive and forceful with the passengers.

I have only flown Iberia on short haul but have never felt safe with them. The crew are usually more interested in chatting to each other instead of concentrating on safety matters. I've even seen them ignore hand baggage in exit rows on take off and landing! Needless to say we avoid them now.

You aren't kidding I just flew on Iberia 2 weeks ago from london to Barcelona and when the crew were supposed to be pointing out the nearest exits they were just talking amoungst themselves and right during the landing one of the flight attendence has the cockpit door opened talking to the captain. I'm a flight attendant myself and I just get really PISSED when I see those passengers running away from the plane WITH their luggage. How can people be so stupid! If everybody has evacuated the plane on time, fires will be extinguished and all the luggage collected after. Taking you luggage DELAYS the evacuation which gives fire the chance to get bigger and bigger, resulting in injuries or maybe even fatalities among the passegners who are the last to be evacuated.

An aircraft should be evacuated under 90 seconds. This movie takes 57 seconds and there are still some passengers collecting their hand luggage... I really feel sorry for the crew, but this is just stupid ignorance from the passengers.

the flight attendents dont have much control durring a evacuation on that size of a aircraft. All they can do is to yell out what they are required to say and get people down that slide. The people took their luggage because they didnt know what in the hell was going on so they thought that they were just going to walk out without going down a slide.

One of the engines on the B747 caught fire. The beeping noise is the evacuation alarm.
