Thanks for the info on Axi . I made my 1st FPV flight today and while view was good I really couldn't tell if the Magister was going up or down without looking over the goggles. I'll need some kind of GPS that put altitude and heading on screen or I will probably crash. It will make nice DVDs with or without the goggles, any ideas on a small GPS that shows on screen info ?
I've just got the MAgister with 680 brushed motor. I hope it will carry my Range Video sony camera and the 500 Mw transmitter. I need to put an extra battery maybe 1000 NiMh.
I have the goggle setup with the 9db antenna. Haven't flown this way before so I'll take off and put on the goggles when in the air. Looks like your doing real well with the Magister. It's supposed to be easy to fly....
Nice setup.. when you get vid posted or when you fly let me know how it goes.. ! Ive allways wanted to try flying with the VR goggles - i may have to do the same!.
As for the plane. -- Fly it first dry -- get used to how it handles prior to mounting the cam. -- There were some adjustments I had to make to the plane for the camera's weight after mounting too.
A buddy that flys with me suggested taking the motor out of my Electristar and putting it in the Magister. The BL motor had to have the mounting braket removed and I reversewd the motor, it ran backwards so I found that reversing any 2 of the wires will make it turn the other way. I took the 45 Amp ESC out of the E.S. and put it in too. It will fly with a 3S li-po or two 7 cell mini C" wired i n parallel. I get 20 & 30 minute flights with FPV onboard.
I actually like it better backwards.. the tail gives it perspective. its not a wireless cam.. i loaded the vid off the camera to my laptop after the flight.
With the ATC2000 you can strip it easy no damge to just the batts and pc board/chip. Lots of wieght loss, nice vid man your way ahead of the curve flying a SD cam.
It was the camera model from Oregon Electronics.. - i dont think they make it anymore.. and mine broke.. hence i started using my Samsung Blackjack video phone.. --hehe
I was actually able to get a bigger camera (walmart-bought 5megapixel kodak camera) on the stryker. It flew like crap, like you said yours did, but I landed safely and got the video on youtube :)
I am currently building an AC this size (1st) what size motor should I get ?
