Very good review indeed. Someone may have already pointed it out, but in case they didn't, the UK version has all scenes of graphic violence and animal killings bar one, which is the killing of the coatimundi by Miguel. The BBFC felt it was a botched kill when compared to the other animal deaths which are quick and clean. There is no crocodile death in this film. I think you're referring to Deodato's Last Cannibal World AKA Cannibals, which was made before this and does have a crocodile death.

I just ordered the Shameless version of Four Flies on Grey Velvet on Bluray. Just becareful when ordering bluray movies. Just make sure you know it is Region 0 (Region Free) or Region A compatible. I always thought that the idea was, however civilized the 'west' was, your just a gnats testicle away from being just the same as the 'savages'. Stick the west in in their environment and you soon revert to 'their' behavior.

It is genuinely a very good film though and the theme music is just completely dreamy.

Clean kills, but they where also used for food afterwards. The monkey brains are a delicacy for the indigenous people. The possum was just pure cruelty.

Violent scenes in Britain will always be cut if it against women aimed at sexual pleasure.

It's one of those films that you don't really enjoy, I think it's more a case of you endure it simply out of curiosity. I've seen the film once a long time ago and I think once is enough :o

Shameless' website lists this release as Region B. Can you confirm it is region free?

@skinslip yeah it's region free. i had my blu-ray player set to region A and it worked. It doesn't say on the cover or disc that it is region B.

i havent seen this film in a few years, but id love to pick it up on bluray. i have the longest cut of the film and the grindhouse release i never watched the UK cut because it was missing parts. ill keep my eyes open for this one

I always thought they acted like "assholes" to get "good footage", to have something to show off to their producers etc. Robert Kerman "the professor" is shown parts of their earlier work and is told (if I remember correctly) that they paid off soldiers to kill people on film for them and since in the jungle they cant pay off anyone they create havoc themselves.. My five cents..

I've always took as the film makers expected the cannibals to act they way they did. The Cannibals weren't bein savage so they had to provoke and shoot it on camera. Which back fired and they got eaten haha. Which makes this movie hilarious, yet disturbing. Thet were tring get a more savage cannibal reaction on film, yet the filmmakers went way to far with it. Becoming the savages themselves.
