  • This is one of the few songs from the late 70's that I loved; and still love today. I was only 20 and working at my first job as a dietary aide when this song was out.

  • Check out Pete Peterkin "The Worlds Greatest Singing Impressionist" . His new video "Nat King Cole vs Johnny Mathis ....is UNBELIEVABLE! (This song is in the video with Pete as Mathis)

  • They are the duo that sang "Without Us" for the 82-89 sitcom "Family Ties"

  • Well I have advice for anyone who lost they love ones take it on day at a time and keep praying for brighter days.

  • @ Gash2cash... I lost my parents also. It's something you'll never get over, but I must say that time heals all pain.

  • @mrimback2011 listen to TO WHERE YOU ARE from josh groban quite an amazing song for that kind of lost really positive and quite worth listening to

  • @mrimback2011 Actually, I disagree. It doesn't always. Sometimes it only takes the sharp edge off it, but the pain remains tattooed forever. Lost my wife twelve years ago tomorrow. She was much too young to leave us. I've moved on, but the pain of her passing is still very there.

  • A beautiful tune .

  • : * - (

  • me and my wife should be singing this song.....I guess were too scared though.

  • When I start singing this song-SOMEBODY is about to get dumped.

  • Dedicated to Herman Cain

  • classic song underated singer

  • Great classic tune:} and it's good to see no insulted Chuck Norris lol..I never understood why he was the victims of jokes in the 1rst place good guy! I

  • I'm so sorry about your parents. My parents divorced after 20 years and I think it was a blessing my father was abusive and not a very nice person, so I think it was for the best. This song reminds me of those awful days.

  • Oh my goodness!!!!! I love Johnny Mathis, I've loved his singing since I was a little girl during the christmas season. My mom had always turned on a Johnny Mathis LP album "Give Me Your Love For Christmas", that album is my favorite, my Mom gave me this album in my mid teen years (at the age of 15). I've treasured this album eversince it's been passed down to me!!!!!!

So, thumbs up if anyone loves Johnny Mathis like I do!!!!

  • @ttezell: Sorry to hear about your parents....mine broke up too after 50 years of marriage. After raising 7 children they just couldn't make it last anymore.....it honestly felt like a death to me. No more family reunions, thanksgiving dinners at mom and dads, xmas dinners, now it's one or the other. I hate divorce because it affects more then just the 2 getting the divorce.

  • Sensational duet, and one of my all-time favourites. 1978 was a happy time for me; would love to turn back the clock. Thank you for posting this!

  • q buena cancion, la estaba buscando y la encontre de casualidad.jojojo q suerte tengo..

  • id like to hear gladys knight sing this but not a duet.thought it was her but its deneise williams.

  • Thank you. The lyric make me sad , but johnny an deniece are great

  • the love you can feel in this song, you cant feel it in new songs anymore

  • I dont think Ive ever heard such a tragic subject matter sang so so beautifully and eloquently. Thank you Johnny and Deniece. And rovingeye2

  • I really dedicate this to my loser ex-husband; years later and this song came on time. Whew I'm glad it over...Eat your heart out Eli...

  • Lovely!

  • A very good UnSung that TV One did on Deniece Williams

  • @eyesley And one should be done on Mr. Mathis - a true, classy legend.

  • Guess it's Over, The Chips are down .... Woooooooo ! ....

  • wow i haven't heard this for so long Love johnny an deniece

  • I've always loved the music backing this song... I describe it as... "whimsical carousel music..." Very, very pretty. :-)

  • ih My God could there ever be anything more pointed than this, sad thin is I was there when this first came out and still now im have never found my partner. Life lost

  • Goodness! what negative comments to date. They have wonderful voices and the words are mutual and philosophical, not full of hate and bitterness i sense anyway??? lovely tune.

  • I used to say I didn't like this song because I didn't like Johnny doing duets I ,think it was what the song was saying that bothered me, because it did end that way for me

  • ITS A SAD THING...IT HURTS VERY DEEPLY AND SOMETIMES YOU DONT GET OVER IT...SIGNED EXPERIENCED

  • @thesonyakyleshow .....you will get over it...I thought I NEVER ever would, but I thank God I did....we are friendly, I like his wife better than I like him.. I can look at him and say to myself, WTF did I see. This sounds like group therapy..lol hey get a dog, they love ya unconditionaly...:>)

  • Man you guys are , im trying to listen to the tune, now after listening tto what you guys are saying ,you got me crying i think ill go take a drink and then go jump in the river head first ...................thanks a lot!

  • @wreepeet ...no don't jump.....life is good.....cough cough

  • Unfortunately all things must come to and end....

  • WHAT'S THE USE ....WHEN YOU'VE LOST THE KEY.....ITS OVER... TOO MUCH, TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE.........WE KNEW IT HAD TO END...

  • The song is from the 1977 album "You Light Up My Life"

  • Yes, It's Over!!!!

  • I guess it's over ..

  • Memories!!!

  • Linda canción para quienes fuimos adolescentes en los 70 y 80.

  • what memories remember my mom palying this in the house

  • You can't pay for good music like this anymore. Sounds great!!!!

  • So did my mother paulbattnj!!

  • I love that your family partied to this song...they must have really been in love...great!

  • Grandes lembranças dessa dupla incrível, grato....

  • @rrkryon si senhor foi maravilhosa tempo a eu tenho lembrancas de portugal

  • Johnny and Deniece hit #1 in Billboard, 6-3-78. Too bad Johnny declared himself to be gay. Bad news for all the women who love him. God bless ya, sister June Deniece. Thanx for postin' it.

  • my parents parted ways after 27 yrs together and after raising 6 children, this reminds me of our family...

  • @ttezell Wow.. I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for sharing something so personal.

  • @ttezell So sorry about that. Sending you a big hug! (((( ))))

  • @ttezell This reminds me of my own marriage. After 20 years and four children later! Oh well, life goes on!

  • @sOnlight67 Wow, the same here..20 years of marriage and 4 kids..house is on the market..sleeping in seperate rooms..it's over...but did it really have to be? When one spouse embarks on a futile voyage in search for the "Holy Grail" of happiness...it's over...so naive, vain, and unappreciative...sad situation

  • @DrinkWater6 Your life sounds like the mirror image of my life and sadly countless others. My home also went into forclosure...he's still skirt-chasing and is now on his 3rd marriage. Hmmmm! I on the other hand, I am in school getting my BA degree, will graduate in May of 2012, by God's grace. All of my children are also in college. One jus graduated with his BA, and the youngest just started her senior yr in high school. I guess my point is, pray for those poor, misguided men...and forgive

  • @DrinkWater6Family IT HAPPENS...THERES NOTHING GUARENTED IN LIFE..SO U MOVE ON.....CAUSE ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE....

  • @ttezell Sounds like my family my parents after 23 years @7 kids. Now it's my time for it after 15 years @ 2 kids.

  • @ttezell Six billion people on this planet and Julius Robert Oppenheimer, an extraterrestrial, came to Earth to deliver this message -- humans are having too many kids. Then he dropped two atomic bombs to bring home his point. Six kids -- no words. Let me guess -- each of those six kids had six kids of their own, even though that was the magic number that destroyed your mother and father. Whoa, Nellie. China has the nuke and they kill kids when parents have more than one.

  • @ttezell Interesting you should say that. When I first heard the song, I thought Deneice's line was "Guess it's over, the kids are gone . . ." and that made it seem so poignant. Sorry about your parents too :-/

  • @ttezell hi sorry about ur parents my parents have parted do u have any advice :)

  • Johnny Johnny Johnny how long has it been? on top for well 50 odd years and still going strong.. why the media did not pick on you early on for your lifestyle ?? who knows ? but it must be because your a gentleman and a wonderful person and contribute so much to the world.. • @sheltv100 Mariah Carey? Are you high?!? Deniece Williams makes this song perfection.

  • timeless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! love it!!!!

  • ffffaaaaarrrrrrrrrr......out,man.im 10 years old again.....too much....(thanks for posting).

  • This song will forever be known for being one of the very best duets ever produced and performed by two great singers. They could not have chosen anyone better for the task! Fantastic video!

  • THANKS.... FROM PERU

  • THANKS FROM PERU

  • This from the era when songs were arranged well, composition and musicality were considered and then they got together great vocal. Now , its a shot in the dark these singers don't know anything about music. All the thought in this production makes it timeless. They also used their voices as instruments doing what they do best. No auto tune at this time. What you hear is pure singing. Thank you !

  • @Respectn2009 Didn't Johnny Mathis play the piano?? Re your 'shot in the dark'. You can't make such wild assumptions about singers of that era. You could probably say the about some of todays chart toppers though.

  • @Respectn2009 To everyone who wrote me. I was referring to Johnny & Denise. I meant the singer of today. A lot of the famous ones. "don't know anything about music. What I mean is working professionals constantly talk about singer, who went in the studio learned a track. Then down the road they are booked on a show that too big for their talent or studio only capabilities. Then all of a sudden they can't recreate that magic. They don't know their range, keys, awful tone, pitch, bad attitudes.

  • @Respectn2009 Again, I wasn't referring to Johnny and Denise. Thank you @

  • deadly..............................

  • @RRNYC1998: Do you have any personal proof that Johnny is a fag? If not then keep your gossiping mouth closed.....because just in case you didn't know, bearing false witness against other people is a sin. You need to focus on his music and don't worry about his personal life....let go and let GOD deal with him on the way he is living just as GOD will deal with you on how you live your life.

  • Perfect Funeral Song! Now Go Meet uR Maker!!

  • Perfect Funeral Song!

  • This song always reminds me of my dear heart, Gene Page. He was the one who arranged it and I met him while it still played on the radio constantly. Now, I listen to his music with tears in my eyes. Such a loss, dear friend. I miss you, Genathan.

  • Johnny is a fag and Denise is a born again Christian. What a mix

  • @RRNYC1998

Well, thats why it's over! Heheheehehe.

  • @RRNYC1998 Sicne we are on the sujects of faggots I guest that includes you.

  • @RRNYC1998 Since we are on the subject of Faggots I guess that will include you too.

  • @RRNYC1998 And she thinks the world of him, too.

  • 5 folks aren't in love, I guess. Billboard's #28 song of '78. Johnny and Deniece hit #1 soul, pop, and AC in Billboard. Why on earth did Johnny turn gay? IDK! God bless ya, Miss Deniece!

  • Wonderful, wonderful (sorry, couldn't resist) song from late spring '78. This was Johnny Mathis' biggest hit ever (at age 42 and 20+ years in the music biz, he'd paid his dues). This was Niecy's only pop #1 until the "Let's Hear It For the Boy" song came out. Speaking of coming out (I hate to break your bubble sharonanony), Johnny Mathis has been openly gay for quite some time now. You people have computers: Wikipedia, Google, etc. the truth's out there. He's 75 now, that explains his reserve.

  • I'm 29 1/2 and I love the older music!

  • Still nice one

  • Soooo sad but beautiful.

  • besutiful song. beautiful singers. had to sing this song to an old friend of mine long time ago. no children involved just a good fling. we both smiled when we were together for the last time and we played this song. our departure was almost as beautiful as the song.

  • who cares .johnny mathis is timeless and neicie has got to be one of the best female vocalists of all times ,my favourite duet god bless them both

  • I would marry deneice williams.

  • I dedicate this song to the Cleveland Caviliers and Lebron. : )

  • Growing up in Drew, Ms in the mid 70's I remember how this was one of the most played songs. Slow-jams like this are great for traveling from Houston to back to Mississippi.

  • Call it a day,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Love it!

  • This is My song

  • so late 70's! i love it.

  • My ultimate song!!!

  • Two powerful voices! Great!

  • The bass is amazing.

  • Beautiful! Just beautiful!

  • Two perfect voices blended together for a wonderful song. Yes the couple is breaking up, but there is no anger or bitterness. They don't make no songs like this anymore. Two Living Legends, Johnny Mathis and Deniece Willams.

  • Hit #1 pop, #1 soul, #1 AC in Billboard. God bless!

  • cracking duet!!!
