@hawcubites That show was it! The absolute best rendition of Purple Rain he ever performed. Great show from start to finish. He got better at performing over the years, but that was the best show I have ever seen by any artist, be it rock, country, or any other genre you can come up with.
Thanks for posting this, I missed hearing this song! I had a copy of this on vinyl way back when. I wish I could get a digital copy. It's too bad he feels the way he does about the internet and technology. I cannot tell you how many times I find younger kids posting positive comments on old classics like this. They need to hear and see how real music is performed. Thanks for taking the risk of getting blocked for posting. If nothing else it was cool to hear this song again.
@MrPrincepop It's not about the accolades. It's about the "all art should be free" attitude, which began around the time of Napster. Making music is "a profession" for Prince, and his works are things he sells to make a living. When you don't pay for music/art someone else used their money/time/ability to make, you're "shop-lifting", at the very least! The internet has created a lot of "shop-lifters"! If it didn't cost him anything to make music, it would be a different story, but it does :-)

He's suing them personally.He recently made his tickets in Calif. for $25.It seems as if he will perform for fans, but he doesn't want to get ripped off.People have to stop draining his bank account.I take it he's probably viewing youtube&seeing his concerts,not to mention reading the comments.He can be nasty sometimes. :-/)

You can argue on principle that his fans shouldn't be downloading his material, but there isn't much (if anything) to gain by suing common working class people who just want listen to his music.
