Haven't read them myself, though the film was shit. Probably just a bad film adaptation of a good book, unlike Twilight which is a bad adaption of a worse book, so I guess it got off easy.

In fact I didn't see it on release day, I waited three weeks, but yeah it's a good little movie if you want some entertainment.

Yeah, I'm actually writing a Vampire trilogy myself. I'm not sure how people will receive it though; the powers, lore and all that is obeyed pretty closely, but the origin I've added for where Vampires came from is very different (though trust me, neither you nor me could make a Vampire story worse than Twilight if he we actively tried for a shitty fanfic like Twilight is)
