You really cant compare the Kia to a Landrover. If your looking at the 110 landy well that is military spec and is designed to last Years and is over engeneered. that said its not ment for road travel in comfort. Now the Disco is and is a lovely 4x4 but its over twice the price so you really have to pitch your comparisons at like for like and that also means cost.
I have had a facelift Kia sorento 2.5 for a year and half and its a fab car. It tows my caravan with ease and has loads of toys.

the one i have at present has 261354 miles with the same clutch from new.
i offered it to kia for the showroom / sales advertising , they declined but my offer today ,what a shame, as i was shore they would do me a good deal.
Hyundai and Kia both may very well made reliable vehicles. I have an o6 Kia Spectra with 157,000 miles on it, it runs like new still. My 1st Kia was an 00 Kia Sephia, I traded it in at 268,000 miles, someone bought it and are still using it. I have a Jeep Wrangler too, it runs great. Under power and and gas hog, but it does well. I have heard of 300,00 mile Jeeps. I am sure mine will go there too. These are both good brands
I took my Sorento down the beach and sand fed in through the belle plate, into and thru the radiator then found its way into the timing cover thru near the crank pulley then derailed the cam belt! It was fixed under warranty but now the motor rattles and its only done 45,000 klms (valve hit piston?) have been through 3 radios as well.
correct me if i'm wrong, but doesnt a 4x4 trans mean that one wheel isn't supposed to b able to slip while the others don't? that more of an AWD right?
i don't have any idea about the 3.5 cc v6 KIA but i do know about 2.0 Subaru forester wich is far more superior , face it man there are a lot of posers these days BMW , Mercedes , wich make these cars just to get people's money , but i think that KIA is superior to those above ! MY Jeep gets about 4 mpg less than a Sorento i would hardly call that shit mpg when comparing it to another SUV. I guarantee my XJ with a 4.0 and an AW4 is far more reliable than a Korean engine and tranny. Jeep got it right with that combo. I agree though you should stick with that FJ40! Those are cool rigs!

I have a Kia sorento 4x4 5 speed and it does not have a korean tranny XJ, It has a borg warner same shit they put in American 4x4. I know this because i had to change the clutch in it a month ago. My dad has an xj and I walked all over his ass in a 4 cyl 4x4 bronco 2 in the mud. I actually pulled him out. Doesn't matter what you have matters how you drive it.

Kia is a garbage company. That warranty is 10/100 because its gonna need it. Locker or not a KIA sorento is not an offroad vehicle nor should anyone think they are "rugged" in any way.
I've been on a Jeep before.. Outstanding ruggedness.. Sadly, there are lots of quality issues with that Jeep. As for the Tuareg, it's awesome, though VW have models with Reliability issues. Land Rover is the benchmark of a good off-roader. Well, guess what.. surprise! surprise! I bought a BOF Kia Borrego after researching and test driving 7 other SUVs including the LandCruiser. "Badge" is nothing to me.. I just need a Reliable Truck for Office Work and weekend Dune Bashing..
investigate what? My jeep has more power, can haul more, can go more places stock than any Kia, and doesn't look half bad. The only thing that Kia has on me is 4 mpg and maybe some more interior space. You think I am just some stupid redneck or what? In the two years i have had my Jeep the only thing I have had to replace so far is an alternator because i ruined it in water. Thats reliability there. It may have a few issue sbut I'd still drive it 1000 miles and go wheeling. Can a Kia do that?
That and more, in my case i have a CRDI kia sorento, and the only change I have made to it is the wheels. After that nothing, and believe me I have done much more than that, I am not here to argue, and definitively wont insult the all mighty American car.. They have their pros and their cons as all cars do. for me after having a wrangler, I stick to my sorento... but enjoy your jeep and I will definitively enjoy my korean junk with which i have towed 3 jeeps now in less than 6 months :)

I havea 95 xj for fun and a sorent for work, Cant remember when last I started the xj sorento does it all now. Nothing wrong with jeep it has its place but dont underestimate the sorento.
I have the xt model ( 2.5 diesel ) with the tiptronic auto box...........this motor pulls my 2 ton caravan with ease and the tiptronic box is brilliant for steep inclines and descents ( provided you know what you are doing.......unlike the donkey driving in this video ).........
I can't believe what I am seeing. The Sorento, apparently, is a very capable offroader. On other videos, it climb hills that Jeeps and a Land Rover could not. I have to get one of these!
you are kidding are you the 4WD system on the Kia is crap notice the front wheels spin when going up the hills as well as when one wheel is up in the air that means that it is not putting the power to the wheels which have traction making it horrible offroad. With any good 4WD system the wheels don't spin at all because the power is transfered to the wheels which have traction with a intelligent differential and traction control e.c.t
a crap won't transfer torque to other axle as quick as this car. moreover, this car has no fixed axle differential(s) but still crambles like devil. I'd say this is a great example how a limited 4WD teachs the world.

Well actually, you're right. But some off-roads like Landwings deserve to be trashed out of the market. The Sorento is awesome. About Land Rover, the D3 and RR are ugly!!!, i only like the Freelander and the old Discovery I & II, although they are great off-road vehicles.
The RR always looked like an off-road familiar, its too long and short (height). The Discovery looks like an off-road, but the RR looks morely like a competitor of the Audi Allroad...

Its stronger safer powerfull and luxerious then 2003 type.
Butt 2010 type is not a real 4x4 , but a crossover , 300 kg lighter ,and its not truckbased !!
