A good bit better than the SNES version with that double jump crap....music is pretty great too.....must download from the Wii back catalogue.......all the old Sega,SNK and Commodore 64 games are there
Ghouls n Ghosts wasn´t ported to the NES, the Game you mean is Ghosts n Goblins ;) ...
I think, that the MD Version is lotta easier than the Arcade Version, even in "Professional" Difficulty, which makes this Game even playable for me, its still hard as hell... Classic!
Easy?! Knowing Capcom, it'll probably be AS HARD AS the Arcade version. I'm a BIG critic against the GnG series, because it's difficult. I couldn't even get past the 1st stage in the arcade version, which I have on Capcom Classics Collection.
I REMEMBER THIS GAME! me and ma bros used 2 play it all the time....and once just as they had nearly finished it i stepped on th wire nd unplugged it lol!
First place I ever saw and played this was at the Evergreen Lanes Bowling Alley... I've never beat this game. I think it's worth playing again. Fresh.
uhm. . . not really. I just played through the entire arcade ROM on an emulator last night. . . I was shocked at how much it looked like the Genesis version.
nope. wrong. you're either being sarcastic, trying to be a wise guy, or, you're half blind.
the 1988 CPS1 arcade version indeed had MUCH better graphics.
there was also a SuperGrafx version in Japan
(not TurboGrafx but the more powerful SuperGrafx). the SG version had better graphics than the Genesis version, YET even the SG version fell WELL short of the arcade's graphics. look closely again at the arcade's color and backgrounds, there's a huge difference.
The REASONS why the arcade's graphics are so much better are two-fold:
1.) the arcade's CPS hardware is MUCH more powerful than Genesis. CPS can put a few thousand colors on screen at once (out of 65,000+) Genesis only 64 at once (out of 512)
In GnG, CPS arcade uses at LEAST 200 colors on screen the Genesis only uses 34 colors.
2.) ROM size. the arcade ROM is 32 megabits. the Genesis ROM is 5 megabits.
I beat this game in the arcade in grade 7 without losing a life, ONE time through. you have to play through it twice. i just got tired and switched over to outrun :D
I'd say this was the easiest of the games in the Ghosts 'N Goblins/Makaimura series, which is saying a LOT due to the series' difficulty and the screw jobs at the end.
I have the arcade versions of the three Ghosts 'N Goblins/Makaimura games on Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1 on PlayStation 2, and there definitely is a difference in difficulty between the original arcade version and the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive port.
The music really gives it a good oldschool gaming feel. Loved it. Funny enough I did actually complete this I think but you had to complete it again or something too kill the main boss with a special weapon or something.
this version is pretty good just not as good as the supergrafx

The sword is terrible, avoid it at all costs! The throwing dagger is where it's at!

It feels so assuring, since it's gold and has a cape. haha

I think the axe is pretty terrible. I like the sword for how easy it makes the bosses.

mariokid, sorry, but, wrong and wrong.
Sega Genesis (1989) was not the only console capable of doing GnG. the NEC SuperGrafx in Japan got a conversion 1 year later, in 1990.
Also, it was SEGA that reprogrammed the Capcom arcade game for Genesis, with a great deal of graphical downgrades so that it could run on Genesis.
with that said, it WAS an EXELLENT translation for the time, it PLAYED almost exactly like the arcade, and the MUSIC was AWESOME for Genesis.

Hell yea, the broadsword is the way to go - it actually saved me once when the first boss lowered it's head and tried to rush me.
I thought I was dead, but I jumped backwards, faced him (in air), and slashed 5 or so times and killed him.
