To steal something means the person you stole from no longer has that item in their possession (or available in some other form), sharing doesn't take anything away.

When you buy a music download you are doing a similar thing, you are simply copying.

But lately, I've been downloading a lot from Jamendo because the music is free and licensed under the Creative Commons. This makes it easy to use in videos and stuff. Though I'm sure that's not always an option for every artist because you have to weight between getting free exposure and earning some money for a living.

When I buy music, I buy from iTunes since AAC has smaller filesize and better quality than MP3 and there's no DRM now, I haven't tried Amazon but 7digital was good for stuff I couldn't get from iTunes. I haven't bought a CD for about 2 years!
