  • You are the absolute best for sharing these tips! I have extra long hair that needs cutting desperately, and I wear side bangs....this, coupled with your "how to cut long layers in longer hair" video have given me the courage to save money and try it myself. Thank you so much!

  • @123ingle Aw, thanks lady! I wished everyone appreciated my tips as much as you do! XO Carolyn

  • I haven't tried to cut my own hair yet, but soon . . . You're videos are giving me the confidence to try it. Your comments here mentioned a newer layered V-cut video. Your long hair two layer viedo (I think it was that one) also mentioned a newer V-cut video, but I can't find it. Is it still up? I want to watch it before I start cutting. Thanks for the trouble that you've gone to to help others. I really appreciate it.

  • @marelin333 You are so welcome! Its one of the newer videos... 'V layer cut your hair' or something like that. I would leave you a link but google/youtube won't let me in the message section... sorry. Hope you find it! Its so easy and just one cut! (I just used the cut again last weekend!) XO

  • I currently have a side fringe (what would you call that? Side bangs?) that has grown really long so that you can hardly see it. I was thinking about just tidying it up, but when you mentioned cutting it straight down, I thought about doing it like that. Would it make a block fringe? (one that covers your forehead completely) Considering the fact I have never cut my hair before, and need to be able to tie it up for dancing and I also have relatively curly hair. what would you suggest? Thanks xxx

  • @187klrysinmalteasers I have a video for framing your face. That will create fringe around your face. You can start it anywhere you like. (cheekbones, chin, etc.) Bangs might get in your way for dancing and may not be a such a good idea. How about considering my easy layered V cut? It will layer your hair in front and in back and is so simple, a first grader could do it. (in my newer videos) You would also still be able to pull your hair up. XO Carolyn

  • I have been trying to cut my own hair for years and let me tell you, there have been some nice boo-boos along the way! Thank you so much for helping out us gals who can't afford to go to the salon all the time. I'm so sorry about the mean people who feel they have to put people like you down, you're great, you go girl!!

  • @termitesis Thanks so much lady! I really appreciate your kudos. I do try:o) XO Carolyn

  • @termitesis Mean girls will always exist. Sorry I missed your comment but thank you! XO Carolyn

  • Thanks again for another great video.

  • @MsMommarn Thank you sweetheart! XO Carolyn

  • Having your bangs cut at a salon: $12

Seeing ppl walking around with a haircut like this: Priceless

  • @dawnsdone I've been a licensed Cosmetologist for almost 20 years now and there's one thing I know from working at a salon for many of those years. Women are going to cut their own bangs at home! Why not show them the right way to do it! Cutting your own bangs can save you a trip to the salon and that $12. If you're willing to spend it, go right ahead! Have a great day!

  • thanks alot you really helped thanks again !!!!

  • @pvnkkchikk Thank you for letting me know!~ XO Carolyn

  • thank you so much!!!!!!!!!! this helped a whole bunch! your very pretty and skinny =) <3

  • You are welcome sweetheart. I am 50 years old and still wear a size 5 jeans. I am not anorexic or bulimic. I just eat healthy foods and am almost completely vegetarian. Raw foods are the best for weight control:o) XO Carolyn

  • @notaditdot you look VERY VERY good for your age! i thought you were like 34 or sumthing. im a vegetarian too =)

  • Thanks sweetie. I feel like I'm 60 some days:o) I love veggies and just made a big pot of vegetable soup. Its so cold here! XO Carolyn

  • @notaditdot i love soup =) where do you live? lik country wise or state

  • I live at the Crystal Coast in NC, along the southern beaches. I love it here but its been much colder than any year I can ever remember here, this year. Brrrr.....! The chill is on! Where do you live?

  • That's fantastic! I am so glad it helped you! XO Carolyn

  • Hi Carolyn,

Just curious, did you ever attend cosmotology school? If not, how'd you learn all this stuff? I'm now trying to find your "lose weight" advice. I've been packing on a few. Thanks!

  • that was realliii gud advice...thanx

  • You're so very welcome~ XO Carolyn

  • good job

    thanks

  • You're so welcome!

  • who the hell cares what bangs or fringe are called?!?! everyone knows or should know by now what they go by..... and no, this isn't europe, in america its' been called bangs here for quite some time time now... lmao... Why americans are saying they did'nt know this was a HAIR tut. is beyond me..lmao......

  • I hear ya lady! Go get em gal! XO Carolyn

  • Some good advice but I suggest better lighting, or a better camera - it was kinda hard to see clearly so I got really confused..

  • I have hopefully fixed the lighting problem in my current videos. I have a good camera and the lighting in my bathroom is really good, but the camera doesn't pick it up for some weird reason. These videos might look amateurish but believe me, they are a lot of hard work. Best wishes, Carolyn

  • Thanks! a piece of advice, ur videos could be even more appreciated, if you add more quality to them for example: if you take care of your light (add more light to ur videos) and may be to take care of the setting you are using to shoot ur videos. Thanx again and good luck.

  • Thanks lady. This is an earlier video and I have corrected the lighting now I think:o) When I first started, I had no clue that people would actually watch my videos. I just did them to help people who cared to watch them. If I could do it again, I'd have corrected the lighting problem much earlier. Blessings, Carolyn

  • so appreciate the tips. u are a great teacher.

  • Thanks! Don't know about the 'great' part though. lol Stay sweet! Carolyn

  • you have pretty hair :)

  • Why thank you! XO Carolyn

  • you sound like a hillbillie

  • Oh, that's such great news! I have perfected it!! Wow! Thanks for letting me know! I do try! Carolyn

  • You mentioned in your other layer video that you slept with your hair all pulled up into a ponytail on top of your head... why is that? Was it to give your hair more volume? Was it wet when you went to bed or dry? Any tips on how to give the front of their hair, i.e., the bangs and hair around the temple volume?

    Thanks again!

  • my bands look rite naww thanks.

  • im guessing bangs is your fringe? (: ahaa.

    x

  • Hhaha. Thanks :) !

  • No offense, it is just i thought it would be more of like... angled sidebangs ?

  • I can do a video about that. No problem. I need more time in a day though. Anyone got an extra hour to lend me? lol I'll see if I can do one soon! Have a great day! Carolyn

  • are these hair tutorials only for girls? Or Guy's can use this too?

  • No, they are universal but you typically don't want to over layer bangs if you're a guy. I would only do one layer instead of two. One layer is what I do for my son's hair and it always looks great! The rule of thumb is that you add longer layers to thin hair to build volume but (can) add shorter layers to thick hair. However, if you're hair is really thick, you shouldn't overlayer bangs. Reason? Because it adds lots of poof/volume. (Unless that is your intention) Have a great day! Carolyn

  • this is awesome! thank you very much!

  • You're very welcome! Good luck! XO Carolyn

  • thanx!

  • You are welcome sweetie! Have a great day! XO Carolyn

  • oh right i live in jersey in the channel islands so everybody calls it a fringe side fringe front fringe ect ..... thankyou for replying ....... from alanaa <3 xxxxxxx

  • Bang is also known as the fringe. The trimmed hair that helps frame the face and lays over the forehead at varying lengths. Sometimes worn swept to the side

  • wot the hell is a bang ??

  • this is NOT spam...why is it marked as spam? I tried to mark it as Not spam, but it would not allow it. in Europe Bangs are known as Fringe! So any Europeans who may benefit from this may not even click on it if they do not know what bangs are!

  • That is SO weird! My last post was in regards to Savinia's post and now that my comment was posted, I do not even see Savinia's...so min does not make sense. Savinia was saying Bangs are Fringe and someone marked it as spam!?!

  • how to do this for curly hair?

  • With curly hair, first get your bangs the right length. Blunt cut your bangs on dry hair without straightening them. Make one small cut, then use that section as your guide to cut the rest of your bangs. After you have your correct bang length, wet down your bangs to straighten them out, then cut layers. You could also use thinning shears instead, and just thin your bangs on dry hair, about 1" up from the ends. Both methods will give the same results basically.
