I personally think that there is a reason that you find a lot of low priced sports games in the 2nd hand stores. Nuff said.
Nice review Chris, you made a pretty good point : Button mashing in the arcades... way better than turning the turbo switch on... With buds it's barely okay, but alone don't even think about it... besides there are better ports of this anyways as you suggested.
@spida1a I had the SNES version too and don't remember any of the criticisms that are with this one. It took me a second to figure it out but when he started talking about the "why I oughta" voice I remember that SNES' played it loud and clearly.
@ffryan Ha ha. Yeah, totally. I had the SNES one as well and that one was such a better representation of the arcade version (larger characters, controls a tiny bit more solid, and speech / music up-to-par). :)
Great review as always spida1a ! Is the Sega Genesis port of this game better than the Turbo version ? Have you ever played it Chris ? I enjoy this version of it a lot. But, if the Genesis version is even better, I'm thinking about getting it ! Take care man !
Well....I did not play the Genesis version myself. However, I did play the Super NES port (which was released at the same time) and it is a superior version to the TurboGrafx one. So, I have to imagine the Genesis one is similar to the Super NES version and I would probably recommend that one first before trying the Turbo one.....
Interesting. I'm not really in to sports games but, some of them are worth trying out if for no other reason than curiosity.
Some arcade ports really did have inaccurate audio but, going by the audio in a lot of the good one's I would say that was more of a programing flaw rather than the hardware.
Hit the Ice has always caught my attention and thanks to this review, I may just try it out.
If you've seen the G4 network's old X-play episodes the Canadian Guy character would be saying "OUI OUI OUI I love Ze Hockey".I still prefer Blades of Steel by Konami since I hated Arch Rivals type game like this one and the Monster Leage games too.I don't like sports game too much but this one is fun,but I wish Konami had ported Blades of Steel to the TurboGrafx 16 but Nintendo would not let them.
MM is a great strategy game. I enjoy that one. I'm not the "best" when it comes to strategy stuff, but it made everything nice and clear-cut. You know? I loved it.

I say avoid unless you're a collector.

With more sports titles than shooters (16 vs. 14), I'd have thought there'd be something worth playing. Is World Class Baseball as good as it gets?
PS - Not to be a stickler, but I could have sworn the company was pronounced "Tahy-Toh" rather than "Tey-Toh". ;)

@Nintendough Honestly, I like WCB a lot. But, there are a couple other good sports games. Not too many......ha ha. But, some. :)

Will you be able to review TV Sports Hockey? That one seems to be a good hockey game for the TG-16.

Yeah, it wasn't easy listening to the digital voices on most Turbo titles, eh? Bravoman especially.
