All the people in here saying they have one of these or a Model D are obvious trolls so just shut up please. These pianos are very expensive so you obviously cannot afford one. I would know. I have a model X from steinway. You probably haven't heard of it but it's 12 feet long and has 100 keys. My grandpa ordered it personally from Henry Steinway and bought it without even asking how much it costs. He didn't even play piano he was just a badass.
For pianos that sell so high you may concider buying more than a 200$ camera to record it. People aren't able to hear it like it should be through such low quality recording.
nrvstorm: I was trying to figure out myself just what Phoenix meant by his "waltz-like" comment, and I thought he meant you were accenting the first beat much more than the second and third (as you would in a waltz), but that's NOT the case...you accented the second and third very prominently and it was in true Mazurka form! Chopin would have loved your version (as do I). Five stars.
Thank you for your kind compliment. As for the piano that was my first big voicing project. I've since gotten much more experience but that was a pretty sweet B. Boy would I have loved to keep it! But alas...I sold it and bought a house.
nrvstorm: It has ALWAYS been my dream to own a New York Model D (the big boy), but it's true, having your own home is more important than having a 9-footer in a dinky apartment with neighbors complaining all day! Priorities!
I had removed the fallboard (cover) because I was in the process of voicing the piano (using needles to strategically poke the hammers for eveness of tone/color). When voicing you must pull the action in and out, over and over again so the fallboard must be removed. There you go!
it is badly out of tune and there are better pianos.
but the older steinays are some of the best.
the best steinways off course are buidl in Hamburg.

Very nice! I really would love to find at least a baldwin or so, and voice it.... How much time goes into voicing to get it "perfect"?
Thanks

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If you'll write an E.
then tilt your head and look at the E.
It will look like a tilted E.
Cool huh?
