  • my german shepherd puppy ash , when i first got her she was 6 weeks old and the same size as my chihuahua , then at 8 weeks old she just grew

  • I like this kind of dog because its a protector.

  • Great job training your puppy! This shows how smart the GSD' s are. I have two German Shepherds (adults) and they are not as well trained as your puppy at 10 weeks. Great job! Have fun and good luck with your puppy!

  • How did you teach your dog to bark on command?

  • @CowsKanFly thats what she said

  • to cute......

  • I recently got a German Shepard, she is a beuatiful girl and i love her already. She is very smart and already knows a few things, but i would like to teach her more. She is 12 weeks now. :)

  • i feel the secret behind a well trained gsd is the way his owner understands him.

if u know your dog well and u r able to understand him then u can train him nicely

  • How do you get your dog to bark?

  • my cat is smarter

  • @Engelkc

u mean ur pussy is smarter??... i agree....

  • I got myself a sheperd/lab. Wonderful dogs they are. Have you any techniques for complicated tricks such as play dead? GOD I WOULD HAVE FUN WITH THAT. Cute dog!

  • thank's dustinengland1981 ill try

  • Then teach your dog what you want and reward him when he does it. Its pretty simple. You can email me any questions, i will help you anyway i can. dustinengland1981@yahoo

  • Guys, its not hard at all to train your puppies. The dog in this video is awful young, but still possible with time and patience. You as the owner have to understand this before you can get your dog to do anything. I am a deputy sheriff in WV and I have trained all 4 of my dogs myself. I had a bit of training in class as a k-9 handler, but anyone can do it. Simply hook your dog on treats, or a toy, i use a tennis ball..

  • lol i had alot of erros im comment i mean i cant train her she only thinks im plaing whit her how can i train her like you do

  • hi im a really fan of the german shepherds, my dad just gave me a Belgian shepherd malinois she is like 4 weeks i try to reing her like you but she only thinks im playing qhit her and starts to bit me lol how can i show her all the stuff you do to your 10 week german shepherd.

    POS: please reply

  • Hmm i like how u tech him to go around u what that called and how can i train mines to do it?

  • that puppy nipping your hand is the reason I'm so bad a training lol a puppy plays I start to cave and play with them

  • i cant wait till i get my gsd!! i want to teach it the basic first like sit, stay, paw, hunt for hidden treats. then afta aoll them i want to teach it that bang bang game. i think they are all so cuteeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!! yours is so smart already!!

  • i have an 11 week old german shepherdd he knows sit come stay down paw and hop.. u have one smart puppyy greatt job on him!

  • BEAUTIFUL dog!!! I love GSD's!!!! What a smartie this doggie is! I love this video, i cant wait to get my GSD in March for my 21st BDAY ! ahh!so exciting.

  • Nope it is little, but will grow to be big.

  • Comment removed

  • just wondering if you have any feeding tips that you could share. thank you

  • thyat's it ;p

  • it is having fun and playing, they love training and jobs :)

  • my gsd pup is 10 weeks atm, was fully housetrained at 8 weeks and no accidents, she knows sit, come and heal, might try the bark one next heh , gsd's are amazing!! :D

  • ye its smart but it needs to be playing at that age and having some fun

  • Now way! I thought it would be best to tie him up and feed him gun powder to make him mean! Let him play? You must be joking. LOL

  • the german shepherd was made for love, not war. Sex, not hate. Food, not mate. Give it a shake, and let it bake. Banana peel, apple jacks, apple, and salad. Boob and breast, chest and fest. These are those who run themselves, these are those who touch themselves. Happy happy gallon o water, happy snappy turtle pond water. K.I. G. L. M. N. O. and P.

    I got warrants

  • lmaooo ik they need to start learning obeidience as early in there life as possiblee other wise ull have a 90 pound dog out of ur controll lol....

P.s for german shepherd learning is fun to them they love being able to please there owners and learning

  • smart dog

  • awesome...

  • Great Foundation training. You can never start to early. Thumbs up to you.

    GSD Rule

  • murkage that is a quality dog i want 1 but my mum says no...

  • anybody know where to buy a purebred pup?

  • A better question would be HOW to buy a quality purebred puppy. Now that is a good question.

  • check out local breeders in your area or try german shepherd rescue.

  • Wow your puppy is SOOOO smart

  • you have a really nice dog

  • You are such a beautiful person Phalluses. If we had more wonderful, loving people like you in the world it would be so nice. Peace and love for everyone. All animals would live and frolic in the forest and all evil would fade away into the shadows. Thanks for reminding me why I bred GSD's and train them to eat people like you when you come knocking to take away my rights and supplant them with your own. See you around. Come knocking anytime you feel froggie.

  • I see where you're comin from.... so many animals need homes right now. I prefer adopting any day!

  • I worked for Rutherford County PAWS in Murfreesboro, TN for 2 years. My job was to euthanize animals. It is very sad that such good dogs and cats had to die because of overpopulation, but it is not because of breeders. The reason I killed so many animals during my career and cried to sleep every night was from the careless owners who did not spay/neuter their dogs and allowed them to roam free. If every animal was responsibly cared for, so many lives would have been saved.

  • Careless owners are one of the reasons yes. But in what logical sense is breeders not the other reasons for these tragedies? If there are no breeders, people will be forced to adopt. It's a win win situation if breeders all die and go to hell. Can't you see? You too are too selfish to see and acknowledge the cold truth, because puppies are cute and cuddly for you.

  • Lol. Yeah, that's a great solution. Send everyone to Hell for disagreeing with you and see who is left. That's a bit extreme, no? People would respect you more if your arguments were respectful, as in:

"I disagree with breeders because more dogs should be adopted from the local pounds."

    Not:

"Go to f-ing Hell, ugly bitch. Your mother dresses you funny!"

    See?

I do understand where you are coming from, though. Puppies are cute. I hated killing them just because no one wanted them.

  • What a smart puppy! You are a great teacher.

I am a huge German Shepherd fanatic and am looking forward to having one of my own someday. :)

  • what kind of treats would be good for my shp? so i can start traininr her shes 6 weeks old maybe i can now..

  • I mostly just use my puppies normal dry dog food for training, but I also use turkey hotdogs. I cut them into small pieces and bake them on a cookie sheet at 250 degrees until they are dry and easy to handle. I make up a bunch at one time and then freeze them in baggies for use later. Frozen Bil Jac dog food also makes very good training treats. You buy it frozen, thaw it out and use what you need, keeps well refrigerated for about two weeks. Check the blog for more tips.

  • Jordan, if you have training questions jump onto my blog and ask me questions there. It is much easier for me to help you in that format. Happy to help.

  • @jordanrivers1 I used natural liver treats, just pinch off little bits at a time for a new pup.

  • He's very cute and smart! I'm so excited. :) I'll be getting a German Shepherd puppy by March!

  • Oh wow I envy you... They really are the nicest dogs in the world. And while all puppies are totally adorable, German Shepherds are amongst the cutest :)

  • wow its hard which dog i want.i like pitbulls and i like german shepards

  • I like Pits also, but you will find that German Shepherds are much easier to train. They were bred to be trained and to work for people. They are loyal, brave and sensitive to your needs. It is very hard to find any breed of dog that can compare to GSD in trainability. GSD's were ranked #1 in the world as the most popular breed for many, many years. Buy the best you can afford or adopt one from a shelter. Don't buy a cheap GSD from the paper because of health issues in the breed.

  • i love shepards. one of my favorite breeds. labs, golden retrievers, and german Shepard are all my favorite breeds. but i love all medium sized breeds. im not a big fan of little dogs the size of cats.

  • i love german shepards i have two but

    ADOORABLE!!!

  • GSD's are such great buddies..

    this is a good pup..

  • i love gemen shepeds. When there puppy's there so cute and i'm getting a puppy gemen sheped

  • What is your work schedule like? Are gone for long periods or home alot?

  • hi

please can you help me i wish i can i buy a puppy this my dream but i dont have a terrace soo please tell me what can i do tell me if there is any animal or any any advice i really want a puppy??and if i put a dog in my farm its like i dont have one because i cant see him everyday

THANKS I ALMOST WILL MAKE ANYTHING THINK YOU CAN MAKE THE HAPPIEST PERON EVER

  • I love the bark part. Too cute

  • When i got my puppy he climbed a lot of stairs now he cant walk straight without falling (hip problem). You guys think it'll heal??? I've been carrying him up and down the stairs and make him rest a lot more.

And its too cold to take him out for walks...

  • How is your puppy doing now. I missed your comment a month ago or I would have commented then. Sorry.

  • my pup is 4 months old and all he knows how to do is si how should i teach him more tricks?

  • I just brought my german shepherd puppy Rocko home last night...he's 6 weeks old when do u think i should start w/ his training for tricks? when did you start showing him tricks?

  • Nina, Just start by holding food in your hand and having Rocko follow your hand about. Touch......Treat. Once he can follow your hand about for say twenty or thirty seconds without getting a treat his is ready to start with sit and down. He will progress rapidly from there. Watch our video's on the blog.

  • thanks soo much...what enticing treat would u advise that i use...yea right now he's very clumsy and doesnt know his left from right super cute he looks a little drunk! ☺

  • Great job!!! I love the part at the end when you are trying to get her to roll!! Very smart pup.

  • you trained your dog good mam

  • ya call these tricks ??? huh ! my dog is 2 months old and already making me coffee every morning ! lol

  • lmao.

  • Wish our shepherd was like this as a puppy. He is a pure breed male and pick of the litter so he was naturally aggressive and defiant.

  • maybe you should be a better pack leader to such a powerful dog?

  • Oh trust me I am. But let's not get all dog creepy. Our shepherd has fun and had a year and a half of obedience training and he sits, heels, stays, and goes to bad pretty much on command. Nicest dog after we got him neutered.

  • I am going to mail you my female shepherd puppy...she is about 4 months now...just mail her back when you are through.

  • Great video and great job with the training! Reminds me of when Desperado (my GSD) was little. (He's now 4 1/2 months old and about 40 lbs.) I agree that GSDs are brilliant. The only problem I'm having is that when I work on heel he'll sit at my leg on my left but always at a 90 degree angle facing me. Gotta keep working on that.

  • If you have been using food in your training. Be sure to use your left hand to give treats when heeling. Using your right hand to give treats encourages the dog to swing around. Hold your hand straight out and ahead of your dogs nose. Then as you stop heeling, guide the dogs nose up for a straight sit. Hope this helps. Check out our website.

  • How did you train her to do that? I have a 11 week old german shepherd!

  • Take it to obedience classes!

  • i want a german shepherd but i live in an apartment

  • Me too, it's such a bummer.

  • doesnt really matter as long as u take in out for walk and exercise it enough

  • it took me 45 seconds to teach my gsd "sit"

  • That's great, but it only took me 44 seconds. Sorry. Better luck next time :) LOL

  • You must be make it without food...my german shepherd make it only with the words.

  • Yes, my boss at work did the same thing. Told me I was doing a good job, but would not pay me. I quit :) To each his own. I like to get paid for my work and my dogs like to be paid. They work harder and harder as the grow older, but they still get paid for good work. Maybe not food, but toys or a romp as a reward. But, they get something extra for their extra effort. Food is a great way to start a puppy, but like all methods it has it's limits too.

  • that's a great answer. finally seeing somebody take care of their german shepherds. around here where i live only drunks have that kind of dog. but if you handle them well (like every other breed) they are great. keep up the good work

  • I agree; It warms my heart to see posts such as this! Thank you for sharing this wonderful moment with you!!!

  • 想交个能看懂这行字的美国朋友

  • If feeding milk to a dog make sure it is lactose free. Dogs are lactose intolerent and puppies will get really, really bad scouring if fed too much too often.

  • thanks

  • is it hard to train a gsd?

  • not realy if u know what ur doing they will pick it up instantly. gsd's are super smart.

  • my puppy is only half german shepherd (other half yellow lab) and he's not just smart, but brilliant......that makes them extremely easy to train as long as you know what you're doing. my husband taught him sit and stay in less than 30 seconds, no joke, and he has done it ever since. he was also very easy to house train, and we didnt even use the crate method.

  • I think your doing great! Keep it up, it just takes time to whip a hard ass German Shepher like yours into shape. Have you though of using a cattle prod? It will help to make your dogs ears stand up straighter and puts a nice twist into their tail. Good luck. Oh, and on the cat food issue, you might want to try Adult cat food so your puppy doesn't grow to fast and a hairball formula could be helpful for digesting excrement.

  • xD, i love it when people play along with the joke xD

  • Amen Hayden. Life is to short to get all serious and stuff. That's why I just play with dogs all day and still manage to make a living. Life is good.

  • thanx dogie. thanx a lot. tc ^^

  • i have a puppy just like that his awesome the cutest german shepherd i ve ever seen if you want to see him just see my video about him

  • so the puppy is not required to put some milk on his bowl when feeding him? coz' the breeder told me to put some milk mix with his dog food. so i thought that a treat is different. so, what dog food are you giving to your 9 week old pup.? tanx for that information doggie ^^

  • Putting milk on your puppies food is harmless, but not necessary if your feeding a quality dog food. Quality food will save you money in the long run. You will feed less and the dog will use the bathroom less. Additionally you will have less trouble housebreaking and have less yard pick up also. If you're feeding a German Shepherd just make sure that the food is for LARGE BREEDS. You want the puppy to grow slowly. Some puppy foods are to rich and the puppy will grow to fast.

  • what kind of treat do u give 2 ur dog after he'done d trick??

  • When I am training a puppy on a regular basis, say three or four sessions per day, I just use his dog food for 98% of his rewards. The other 2% would be liver or Bil-Jac or something special. He will get no food from a bowl. Only food from my hand at that stage.

  • I have two 6 1/2 months german shepherd named Odie(Guy) and Tarkie(Woman).. They are a ruckus but fun to play with them!!!

  • Cute puppy looks like 3 months? Smart pup you have there My shepherd is 9 months and is a dumbass.

  • It's never to late. I recently trained a nine month old male GSD that was totally out of control. After just three short weeks of training he was easily handled by his owner who is seven month pregnant and couldn't even walk him on leash before. Don't give up hope. Just get some help and train him.

  • how do u teach ur gsd to bark?

  • There are many ways, but one of the easist is to tie the puppy with a six foot leash. Then get a bowl of food and stand just outside of his range to jump on you. Tease him with the food, then FREEZE and wait. Repeat. The tease gets him excited, the freeze will cause him to get anxious enough to make a sound. When he makes even a small sound, praise and give him a piece of food. Repeat. Ask for more and louder barks slowly over a few days.

  • How old this puppy is?

  • 10 Weeks old.

  • I'm getting a GSD soon. Yay for dogs.

  • Must be a very nice life you live. If all you have to hate is someone using treats to train a puppy. Geez dude you need to get a life! Me I didnt hate anything until I saw your user name. Now I hate your user name. Makes a much sense as what you hate. Take a chill pill and send us a video comment of your dog working so we will all know how wonderful you are. Talk is cheap. Lets see the video.

  • You don't know anything about dogs and the training do you? First off all yes sure you don't need to use treats, but everyone has a right to use any methods they preffer. In this video I seen someone doing her part in the dog training. And thats good enough for me. Methods are not as important as results. And positive reinforcment been proven to work.

  • treats proven best

  • i think german shepherds have a good nature when trained at that age what do u think

  • so this is how you home train them huh

  • It's one way. There are many ways to train dogs. It depends on the dog and their owner which is best. There is no one right way. But, anyway is better than what most people use which is no training at all, just blaming the dog for not knowing what they want.

  • that's amazing, my dog is 2 weeks older, and I could teach him how to shake the hand, and jump, and run after me. but I still want to teach him how to bring things. nice video, keep doing the good job.

  • That is a very smart puppy!

  • AWW he's adorable. my german shepherd could have done THE SAME THINGS when he was that age... i miss haveing a lil cuteie pup ALTHOUGH having a grow shepherd is very good excperience and and my dog is adorably loving caring ans sharing beleive it or not

  • you got him doing that at just 10 weeks old!, thats amazing!...keep up the good work!

  • Go to doggiedogblog dot com to see more info on puppy training. Video and articles.

  • That puppy has a higher I.Q. than some people I know :)

  • i know. that dog has a higher I.Q. than my my sister..lol shhhh!

  • Mine too! lol

  • heh mine 2 lol

  • pff SAME

  • Any info on how to train him like that?

  • Go to doggiedogblog dot com to see more info on puppy training. Video and articles.

  • i wanna learn how to train mine like that! he's only 5 1/2 weeks old!

  • unkown good dog

  • lovely dog!

    Male or female?

  • Gooood doggy!

  • ur puppy is soooo adorable and so well trained!! any book suggestions??

  • i have a black lab who is very well trained but playing fetch!!! get the ball i think he thinks the game is tag i gatta get him too get it!!

  • itz soooooo cute sell it 2 meee

  • you have a really nice dog

  • beautifully done! Gorgeous pup!

  • im no professional trainer so i couldn't really understand you. thanks for clearing my doubt.

  • Two very important issues when training. Good (accurate) communication and building motivation to please. Once you have those two things going for you training is more fun for you and the dog.

  • that puppy is cool but whats with the lady and the "thats it"??

  • We use "That's It" instead of good dog. Mean's YES you did what I wanted.

  • how did you train your GSD to bark? I had a GSD in the past, and I couldn't even train it to fetch! He'd grab the stick and run with it, and he didn't have the sense to bring it back to me.

  • lol thats the same with my german shepherd dog too! He runs away with it and makes you chase him!

  • I used to have a Border Collie. I learnt him almost every 'normal' trick within the first 6-9 months. If you want an easy breed to train I'd go with a Border Collie but you better have plenty of free time...

  • well done! its exciting and interesting to see such a young pup do so well. my gsd is currently 5 months, and the only commands she knows is sit, and she sits there at the same spot till i go off. i don't know how to get her to stand right back up though. lol. you pup is waaaay perfect! =)

  • Great job!

  • good!!

  • can u tell me how to teach a little german shepherd like that ? is it hard to a simple person not a dog teacher ?

  • My GS pup could do the same thing...I went to a good trainer and did *everything* he said and was very consistant. Get a good trainer. Mine was a police officer/dog-trainer at the time (now retired) and he was available by phone if I had questions. It's a lot of work...training every day and once a week with the trainer.

  • what city do u live in

  • That me my dog is the dearest, you say oh humans are sin, my dog are to me in the Sturme faithfully, humans not times in hoist

  • I agree. Next time I come to Germany I will come visit you.

  • can anyone message me and tell me what is she giving the puppy?

    is it bascuit?

  • Just the puppies food. Instead of feeding him from a bowl, she only feeds him from her hand during training sessions.

  • me 2 my dog is same age plese ask the lady what is the date of birth of that PUPP

  • thats why i have two gsd`s!!!!

  • he's a brilliant little pup. How did you teach him to bark on command though? I am getting a GS pup soon.

  • wow very intelligent, hes awfully tiny =P

  • aww he is so adorable. i hate a 12 week old GSD pup his names astro, haha but he wont liten to me when i try to train him :)

  • yea I,m having the same promlem with mine

  • USE TREATS! its kids play to teach a young gsd believe me

  • thanks but his only problem (besides taking a huge dump on my mom's rug)

is biting. He snaps his jaws to show affection.

  • Shepherds are brilliant dogs, the future wife and I are discussing adopting one after we're married.

  • ow that is adorable where did you get him. i have a german shepard puppy but we are pretty sure that he has labrador retreiver collie mix in him to cuz we got him from the humain society. his name is tundra and i must say i love these breeds there adorable smart and so funny.

  • May I just say that this puppy is so impressive it is not even funny! at 10 weeks that is very impressive!!!! =)))) keep up the god work!!

  • That is one smart puppy!!! I have a 19 month old GSD also, easy to train, very high drive. Would never have another breed of dog. This is it for me.

  • I have a 19 month old female GSD that was very easy to train. I've owned lots of different breeds but GSD is by the far the best. Their level of intelligence is uncanny. I will be getting a male pup next Spring.

  • Once again I am impressed. I get so mad at people who say (well not mad but annoyed) at folks that say treat training is wrong. I have done that with all my dogs and once they get past that "puppy stage" I've found a transition stage to where they don't even look for a treat. I'm not a professional but I've worked with some and found this the best way. You rock lady :)

  • Excellent comment Shadygal! I am a professional trainer with twenty five years experience and I totally agree with you, this method of training works and Cindy rocks!

  • We just started using an electric collar for my GSD. Many think this is inhumane. What's your position on electric collars?

  • How old is your GSD?

  • WOW...How do you teach a dog to bark?, especially when its only 10 weeks old.
