Hi I had a question i have a hp 6910p and i was wanting to know if i am able to upgrade my cpu if so what's the fastest cpu i can put in my laptop thanks.
@12344richard just word of advice.....not sure he cud say the same thing, but changing the cpu is possible but u might kill the battery, and the fan speed might exceed excessively,i kno hp...they get hot
@12344richard If you're asking this question, changing the CPU in your laptop is not something you're going to manage to do very easily. Your processor looks fairly solid from the look of the specs online. If you're interested in overclocking, buy a desktop.
Hey! I have a intel i7 870 2.93 Ghz socket 1156, motherboard ASUS P7P55D-E LX and i use the original cpu cooler. I know it's best to have a much stronger cpu cooler, but it is possible for me to overclock it to 3.4 Ghz stable 24/7? i want to do it in the bios, but i have no idea how the settings should be. i have searched around the internet, but i can't get this!. so if someone knows how to do please answer! just write down the settings in the bios, i would be very greatful!
I would never recommend to overclock the FSB as this usually will result in MoBo component damage and fire. CPU and RAM overclocks should be done without adjusting the FSB. (sure it can be done by adj the FSB..but that should be the last resort)
i got a i7 920, and it was pretty easy to OC it to 4.00ghz, but after some tests I found a couple of bottlenecks, most notably on the HHD and GPU, so I clocked it down to a safe 3.2ghz with a voltage of 1.2v. Not worth wearing my hardware down, i'm a poor man.
@wallismg 9000Ghz, you want it? it's yours my friend, as long as you have an aluminium sky scraper fitted with jet turbines for a heatsync. i'm sorry wallismg, i can't give you an ocean of liquid nitrogen, come back when your a little, mmm, richer!
I NEED HELP!: mi pc lately said that it's overhitting on the boot page with red letters BUT today after rebooting after using my antivirus didn't boot, i mean, appear the windows logo and then black and then returns to the boot page and so on, and in the last time the message was: "PLEASE CLEAR CMOS IF SYSTEM NO DISPLAY AFTER OVERCLOCKING". What's that mean?? do i need to change the cooler?? it's 'cause my pc it's overheatting? do i need to take the battery on bios?? Sorry my bad english! TY!
@SEANYBOY9500 well i upgraded mine to 3:22Ghz, Dint notice alot of a performance TBH but i did notice something, on my FS2004 i clicked too buttons are the performance Boost was amazing!
My first overclock was on a Geforce 7900 GTX, I overclocked the memory speed from 1600 to 10000 (due to a rivatuner issue that made it possible to reach such high speeds) very beautiful artifacts showed up in less than a second xd but the card survived
Ok im trying to figure out what my multiplier, frequency and voltage should be.I have the intel E4600 dual 2,4 and im trying to set it to 3Ghz.My voltage is at 1,27 ,but i saw a guy setting 1,40 in a video with the same CPU as mine. What do you think? Is it going to shorten my CPU lifespan if i do it too?
@workshop4life1 actually, its usually 'f2' or 'Delete' on most Intel motherboards, but it may be 'f4' or 'f8'. 'Esc' 'f1' 'f9-12"and 'f6' are usually reserved for boot options.
i have a question is power suplly that big of a deal when overclocking a cpu? cause i overclock my phenom X4 to 2.60 to 3.10ghz.. and when i go further after that it just locks? its so stable and run cool at 3.10ghz? but when i turn it up even a few mhz? then it locks werid
Yeah some motherboards have that support. but most of them dont. i have already had to replace my motherboard 4 timesdue to capacitors blowing up. i suppose overclocking on some systems is ok if you have a after market cooler that gives it sufficent cooling. other wise your putting a huge risk to your computer. plus even the slightest over voltage to the cpu and its fried. i blew my P4 2.8 up giving it too much voltage.
OverClocking is extremely bad to do. When you need more voltage to your Cpu it causes your Motherboard and Power unit capacitors to rise in temperature which meaning it wears them out to eventually they blow the cap off the top. Just a word of advice for people looking to overclock.
@scar1343 Most new motherboards cut off if something is risking so Overclocking isn't bad AT ALL! Overclocking isn't hard isn't bad and isn't for a dumbass.
hehe my laptop is shitty. 1.60 Ghz dual core 2 GB ram intel chipset express family >.< is the satellite toshiba thing but its sooo crappy. It gets super hot even if i dont overclock WITH a fan mount thing underneath. I was thinking about over clocking so i could actually run stuff but im worried about it like melting cause it already is super hot. Any advice (do not tell me to buy a new laptop xD)
intel users have a harder time overclocking. AMD all we do is set the memory to its maximum including timing and all. once we are done we leave the front side bus alone and multiplay high to where we want, set the voltage and we are done. Intel is more complex. not bad, just different
i have a core 2 duo e6750 at 2.6ghz i overclocked it at 3.2ghz whit all voltages control at auto. but at the everest programe it showed that my memory voltage was ta 2.05V is that good or am i going to destroy my ram?
I used cpu multiplier to Overclock to 3.8Ghz from 3.2. Voltages are adjusted automatically to suit but i do have the options to overclock using different methods but i find the multiplier to be the easiest and less hassling.
=/ overclocking Intel E2140 Dual core on air cooler from 1.6ghz to 2.2ghz with 800mhz memory it will auto shutdown cuz of overheated :( anyone teach me about how to overclock it :)
@chengsiong0903 dude if your rig is overheating you have to buy a better CPU cooler or a better RAM(if the ram is overheating) or perhaps theres something wrong with your cooler if you have a decent one.
@chengsiong0903 First you need a decent cooler, a cheap decent cooler is the arctic cooling freezer 7 pro rev 2. It does a decent job for the money. Next you need to set your voltages best to start with stock. It all depends on your motherboard. I prefer gigabyte for overclocking. Are you sure its overheating and shutting down also.
i want to OC my 965 from 3.4 to a stable 4.1ghz using the H50 "water cooler". can anyone suggest the best mutlipier and FSB setting i should use, or at least start with. thank you in advanced. 2gb RAM 1333.(upgrading soon to 4 maybe 6)
can i overclock my cpu by leaving the front bus the same and increasing the multiplier..i have a dual core e 5400 @ 2.7 but the bios shows 1.7ghz...the mulitplier is set @ 8.5 and bus is set at 200.....i increased the multiplier to 13 and left the buss @ 200 which i got 2.7 in the bios..the system is running good...did i accomplished anything or should i leave the multi-@ the orignal 8.5 and increase the buss instead pls help!!!
@robertvandaley1 It's better to increase multiplier cause it overclocks just CPU... when you increase FSB than you're overclocking almost everything [ram, cpu, northbridge] Some CPUs have locked multiplier so if you want to overclock you have to incease BUS [FSB] cause there's no other way...
@robertvandaley1 the original multi for that chip is 13.5 @ 200 so it was underclocked the way you had it. but that might have been because of speedstep or another bios program that lowers the multi when computer is in non use. Its a energy saving thing. Check overclocking forums on the web that chip you have can do alot if you have good cooling. need to get a good monitoring program to tell what the core temps are.

@dannyrea246 Just do it... xD if it's safe to overclock i7 from 2.66 to 4.5 than...well... CPU's lifetime i about 10 years...so... if you overclock from 2.5 to 3.0 you might lose about 1 year... and keep it cool
@dannyrea246 Safe is a term on decided by you. Do you have the money to replace the chip and what not. I personally think its fine aslong as you keep vcore down and temps down.
Hello guys, I just made a video of me overclocking my I-7(920) using 2 floor model freezers. I've never seen anybody try this before using affordable cheap freezers so tried. the of the video is called "Overclocking I-7(920) using two Freezers!"
Overclocking is when you change the values of your CPU or GPU higher than it originally was so it will perform better, however, overclock to far and you will probably brake your CPU or GPU
DiDolRuChagi basically you will need a higher voltage than default. What does than translate into for you, well there is not simple map for getting there. You will need to do a little research to come up with you numbers. Don't give up, you can do it. The key is to keep looking, learning and asking questions.
this is fcking complicated, i dont want to get my pc then overclock it to 2.6 ghz from 2.3ghz. and end up not being able to start up my pc :( this whole overclocking thing sucks, sadly i wana overclock my cp but dont know wat i should fckng do -_-
Question for everyone: I can overclock my AMD athlon x2 64 3600+ from (2.00ghz) to (2.40ghz) without crashing/locking/BSOD, etc. I can get it to (2.50ghz) but it will lock up more frequently.Does this mean 2.50 is unstable for my PC, and 2.40 is my stable, at about 32C. But my 2.50 gets to about 35C. I didnt change the voltage, under the impression if its not necessary dont do it. But If I want to go to 2.50ghz will I have to up the voltage? Please, any answers would be awesome.
theres so many multiples involved. Sounds like to me you have much more room to overclock and that you didnt go through the process slowly and thoroughly testing each factor to its limit, to find out which factor is limiting you or causing instability!
only problem is the computer is just an Hp i bought at best buy and its not in a welly ventilated space. i have 6G of ram which is the only thing i upgraded. what do i do?
Buy a cheap motherboard, CPU, case, fan, RAM, etc. and make a computer for about $100, if you can do that without fucking the whole thing up then go ahead with your big computer.
@RenegadeMadeVideoman you can overclock slowly incheasing it by 0.10ghz at a time until your computer wont boot properly and when it does that it will change back to the last settings that worked so lets say you have a 3.00 ghz proccesor you can keep overclocking it to 3.5 so as long as everything is working ok you can leave it there but if you are running a stock cooler like me only overclock it a bit or buy a good 50 quid cooler and jack it to 4.00 ghz :D
you'll be sage so long as you don't go over 1.5v for your vcore. also i would't suggest going much over 3.6 ghz for everyday use unless you have a decent aftermarket fan/heatsink
I would like to ruin my old pc once Ive bought myself a new one. What is the best way to increase the heat in such a manner, that taking off the heatsink will result in the processor exploding? *-*
if you bought the pc in a store thats common they disable those functions to extend the lifetime and avoid repairs etc and make kinda commercial since their pcs break less frequently :P its all about the money
Overclocking your CPU may immediately or overtime, damage and fry your CPU. As he mentioned, having a higher Voltage than Default can reduce the chance of damaging it, but won't ultamitely stop it from potentially happening. :]
yes it is because when you overclock you are pushing the part you are overcolocking past what it was built for it good for short term but not long tream say your CPU had a lifespan on 4 years over clocking would put it at 2 years but how far that hurts the part depends on how much highter you over clock I only overclock any part to one times its normal power
excuse me! i was playing prototype and it froze i downloaded fur mark to check my gpu temp and it shows like 90 c temp which is i think too hot i built up my pc 3 weeks ago i got 4 gb ram i m using v9 cpu 750 volt galaxy nvidia geforce gtx 285 intel core i5 cpu 750 2.65 ghz 2.79 ghz and windows 7 32 bit can u tell me why my gpu temp is too high do u think its faulty if so , i can change it , it takes about 2 weeks to replace but do u think its my gpu faulty or wat plz reply thank you so much
ok i get what he means with the multipliers, but i dont get the ram stuff.....do i have to overclock my ram if i overclock my cpu? the only thing i want to OC is my cpu....i would like to leave my gpu and other stuff at default...its mainly cuz i have a slow processor and the other stuff i have is top quality (almost) ....the cpu is an intel Pentium d...i a while back had it at 3.9ghz, runnin at 1.5v but it was unstable....i dont know how to make it stable...any help would really be helpful.
u ain't gotta overclock no ram if you don't want. u just get da rite mem divider on an u set. da pentium d aint dat great tho. u should thank about invest in a new cpu cuz dat thang behind some the cheapest u can find 2day
yah i figured out how to overclock my ram....it helped quite a bit in gaming......bout the cpu....yah i no PenD is not that great....if you look at my video your gonna see......i saved the best for last......workin on putting a high end quad in my pc.....so i basically just prepared my rig for when the quad comes. thanks 4 the reply tho
I know a little bet about everything you covering. So, I could grasp some of it. however, their asking you to explain something like how the government works or an automobile runs, in 3mintes. It just cannot be don't !
But this is a great starting point and pretty good overview!
For any new-by trying to grasp this stuff start off with reading up on each component.
lol, sounds good, I might pick up a mobo that will let me overclock with software, or right on the board, at least to achieve a decent OC, and then maybe after that, find out how to do it in the bios, by talking to people with a similar setup.
I got lost after 2:25 though. Memory timing? What do you mean by " sometimes the front side bus is too high or too slow"? What happens if it's too high or too slow?
Get alife dopesmoker777 u post on everyones vid u have no life get a job so u can afford these computers and stop sweating on ur ass all dat typing on youtube
I gotta say... I took a heavy shit in your mother's cunt, last night, good sir.

any overclocking software on the fly kinda like the epu on the asus motherboard?

FSB * Multipliier = CPU speed.
I don't intend to overclock (maybe on a old PIII) but I know how CPU speed is made.

I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 @ 2.5GHZ - Is it safe for me to overclock it to 3.0GHZ?
dannyrea246 1 year ago
@dannyrea246 if ur cooling is a good aftermarket cooler then yes :)
neurotoksin 1 year ago
@dannyrea246 Just do it... xD if it's safe to overclock i7 from 2.66 to 4.5 than...well... CPU's lifetime i about 10 years...so... if you overclock from 2.5 to 3.0 you might lose about 1 year... and keep it cool
error262 1 year ago
@dannyrea246 clock it to 4ghz if ya want......(good cooler)
pkmChris 1 year ago
@dannyrea246 Safe is a term on decided by you. Do you have the money to replace the chip and what not. I personally think its fine aslong as you keep vcore down and temps down.
crazyprime 1 year ago
@dannyrea246 that chip will easily hit that and then sum especially if u have a gigabyte mobo so simple to overclock very stable

Hello guys, I just made a video of me overclocking my I-7(920) using 2 floor model freezers. I've never seen anybody try this before using affordable cheap freezers so tried. the of the video is called "Overclocking I-7(920) using two Freezers!"

what is overclocking, plz someone explain =)
is that doin something with ur ghZ?
VisualDesignFX 1 year ago
@VisualDesignFX pushing it to the limit, or putting it further than the default. example ypu have 2.30 ghz cpu and you overclocked it 2.50 ghz.
but please note that you do this at your OWN RISK. cos overlocking many damage your pc.
KimHero32 1 year ago
Haha thx :)
but im using a laptop so overlocking is not possible hueh?
VisualDesignFX 1 year ago
Overclocking is when you change the values of your CPU or GPU higher than it originally was so it will perform better, however, overclock to far and you will probably brake your CPU or GPU

hbkfitz 2 years ago
DiDolRuChagi basically you will need a higher voltage than default. What does than translate into for you, well there is not simple map for getting there. You will need to do a little research to come up with you numbers. Don't give up, you can do it. The key is to keep looking, learning and asking questions.

The trouble is there are very few guides for those who have never done it before.

DiDolRuChagi 2 years ago
theres so many multiples involved. Sounds like to me you have much more room to overclock and that you didnt go through the process slowly and thoroughly testing each factor to its limit, to find out which factor is limiting you or causing instability!

Got a q6600 only at 2.4Ghz i want it to 3
only problem is the computer is just an Hp i bought at best buy and its not in a welly ventilated space. i have 6G of ram which is the only thing i upgraded. what do i do?

i REALLY want to overclock my core2duo 3.0Ghz but i have a $1500 machine and i don't want to break it...any suggestions?
RenegadeMadeVideoman 2 years ago
Buy a cheap motherboard, CPU, case, fan, RAM, etc. and make a computer for about $100, if you can do that without fucking the whole thing up then go ahead with your big computer.
Draculix 2 years ago
hmm...maybe ill just stick to my 3ghz. lol
RenegadeMadeVideoman 2 years ago
@RenegadeMadeVideoman you can overclock slowly incheasing it by 0.10ghz at a time until your computer wont boot properly and when it does that it will change back to the last settings that worked so lets say you have a 3.00 ghz proccesor you can keep overclocking it to 3.5 so as long as everything is working ok you can leave it there but if you are running a stock cooler like me only overclock it a bit or buy a good 50 quid cooler and jack it to 4.00 ghz :D
haloslayer78 2 years ago
Well if you are not willing to try overclocking i suggest you just leave it alone.. duh..what type of question is that-.-
Park0ur4life 2 years ago
@RenegadeMadeVideoman
you'll be sage so long as you don't go over 1.5v for your vcore. also i would't suggest going much over 3.6 ghz for everyday use unless you have a decent aftermarket fan/heatsink

Overclocking your CPU may immediately or overtime, damage and fry your CPU. As he mentioned, having a higher Voltage than Default can reduce the chance of damaging it, but won't ultamitely stop it from potentially happening. :]
RvBfan2010 2 years ago
what are the dissadvantages of overclocking the cpu ? i heared it reduces the life time of the cpu, Is it true?
mysatellitea40 2 years ago
yes it is because when you overclock you are pushing the part you are overcolocking past what it was built for it good for short term but not long tream say your CPU had a lifespan on 4 years over clocking would put it at 2 years but how far that hurts the part depends on how much highter you over clock I only overclock any part to one times its normal power
