The timing and instruments used make this a very interesting tune. That xylophone off time and the horns after each 8 bars gives it a really aggressive sound.prefusehead, Do you know much about the original piece? It sounds like a sampling of maybe a Bernard Hermann composition. I may be wrong about that. Bernard Hermann did some work on Alfred Hitchcock movies and certainly set an atmosphere that very few if any can do these days.
Bernard Hermann is actually one of my favorite composers. Twisted Nerve is one of the greatest compositions ever written. I have looked all over the place for information on the samples used, but couldn't find anything. If your a fan of Hermann you should check out Edgard Varèse. amazing stuff.
@beefjerky3 I know nothing about the original piece but get exactly what you mean about the xylophone and horns, I think the song has a more productive feel to it, or a feeling of progression. It is truly a masterpiece! I cannot get my head around the time signature of the song

Oh hey, another Zappa/Tobin fan here. This is an amazing piece from a stellar album, thanks for sharing.
Varese has many amazing pieces but mostly it's way too experimental at least for me.

Hey, Thanks for the info, Varese is certainly interesting music, if it influenced Frank Zappa that,s good enough for me.
