I quite agree with jennieHolyoak, I know a lot of Police officers that have trades, just like firemen! Being a trained Police officer does not mean that is all your capable of doing, People do have a life as well!
As a member of Rated People since March this year, have won only 6 jobs, rated five star by 5 of them, the other one sent a very nice and complimentary letter saying how pleased he was, but got fed up trying to rate me on the site! People, please remember that the tradesman has to buy your lead based on what you say you want to pay, please dont say youir budget is £3000 when you mean £250 ! Seems there are people out there who are prepared to have a go for peanuts, employ them at your own risk
Would be nice if one or more of the tradesmen was a woman. Or is there a different word for 'tradesman' that isn't a mouthful? Tradesperson is a bit crappy. Trader doesn't really do it. Any other ideas anyone?
Mixed feelings as my mom was not so lucky with one of the'' Rated'' members , He was not a professional in fact he was , an Ex policeman! So as per usual beware of adds that show a pro at work, The First time I used Rated I was lucky . I was very happy with the fitter.
I have been a member of rated-people for about 18 mths now, the site is verygood when your a bit low on the work. Its a small amount of the people who post jobs that they want done put down a budget and want so much done for so little, that it some times only just about covers the cost of materials and the cost of buying the job,( YES CUSTOMERS WE AS TRADES-PEOPLE HAVE TO BUY THESE JOBS). Also the ad should cover more trades-people like us landscapers/ gardeners.
Great video. Nice, simple and clean. Have used Rated People before and have nothing but good things to say about it!! Have already recommended them to a few folks in my village.
oh yes Sean Connery would have been a good one. The ad looks really up-market, I bet it was expensive, but I wonder how much Sean Connery charges for a day on set?
When we had a serious electrical problem, Rated People found me an electrician at 4pm on a Saturday. By 8 pm the issue was sorted. My wife felt safe inviting him into our house because he had 120 positive ratings. If you want a serious proper tradesman, this site is the best.
So this TV advert is going out in Scotland right? Can you imagine the scottish response to a TV advert with an english accent? Doesn't bear thinking about.
Nice simple ad though. Doesn't explain the 3 quotes, but raises the bar on quality when compared to myhammer always banging on about reducing prices and putting tradesmen out of business. And as for the mybuilder ad, well, enough said!
I like it, it's nice and simple and just tells you what it is - an easy way to find good tradesmen (and I have found good tradesmen through the site!)
I totally agree with Julian, I was an Art Director for 20 years before a career change to garden design. The ad doesn’t give a fair representation of trades, it does more for handy men that the true professionals signed up to the website. It is purely a branding statement.
Hi, Looks good to me, I'm launching a membership based lead generation and marketing support community website in October. It aims to help all types and sizes of businesses to find leads using up to 35 nil/low marketing strategies.
We aim to form alliances with other membership sites and compliment what they do with some very unique services.
If you are interested in further discussion on a potential alliance contact me on 07799348642.
@silentthunder46 Ratings are there for exactly this reason, so customers can find out previous feedback about the tradesman. They also check for Gas Safe certification for jobs that require it.
I'm torn between the comments as I can see that you have to get a lot of info into a little time! I think I come down on the positive side though - the emphasis on quality is encapsulated by the clean lines. If the service succeeds and ratings are updated then hopefully there will be fewer Romanian refugees damaging property as only top rated trades will prosper. Good Luck.
it's ok doing a nice 'glossy' tv ad but i have been a member of this lot in the past and it's not only expensive but you don't get that much work from it either! Now this is to be shown as a tv ad, i guess even more tradesmen will sign up to it, so even more competition and even less work................forget it!!
Like the White theme, didn't catch the plumber. Was there one? The speech doesn't seem to tie to the visual regarding the trades only the brand. As a member the whole rated people thing is just the ticket when things get quiet. I recommend it to all trades and friends who need things done.
As an adman I would say you should be showing more tradesmen/women actually doing what they really do - hammering, plastering plumbing etc. This would create a more accurate and upbeat approach. This is all rather bland.
As a customer, I hope that the next lot you send me will be better than the Rumanian refugees who damaged my doors.
@juliandavidmoseley Any adman can skin a cat any number of ways and obviously you're entitled to your opinion (btw I disagree), but what's seriously disturbing is the hideous trolls who damaged your doors... were their ratings legitimate? I think we may know the answer to that one.....
I used to use Rated People a couple of years back, ended up dumping them because of their rip off fees.
Just out of curiosity, recently signed up again to see if anything had changed............and it hasn't.
Still a rip off site!
Will never use again.

Don't see the point. Why not just get recommended tradesmen from friends?

Rated People do check gas safe certification now, though this is a recent change.

I have been an Electrician for 21 years and I have been a Rated People customer since spring '08.
I do get work from the site and it is a good way of getting work done quickly.
People who use the site should remember that WE the tradesmen have to buy the contact details of each customer individually.
Please only post if you are genuinely looking to have the work done, many people use the site out of curiosity.
ALWAYS check a tradesman credentials.
Rated People do NOT check qualifications.

Excellent. Clean. Simple. Could do with multi race, women as well, different ages and body sizes.
Re comment about ex copper - lots of people change career but it doesn't affect their professionalism or skills.
