This scene is funny... but it's like they forgot all previous seasons in the writing here.. How could they not suspect anything? They KNEW the bay harbor butcher used plastic to tie his victims up, also Debra has been lying in the same plastic in the first season and Dexter showed up on this crime scene really fast and unexpectedly..

@chillococo plastic is a really common tool used is daily life and probably a fair few of their off camera crime scenes every once in a while involve plastic wrap, plus they "solved" the bay harbour butcher case. If they did that every time they saw a crime scene with plastic they'd never get anywhere. They'd have to see a crime scene identical to the bay harbour butcher to suspect that and even if they did their first suspicion would be that a copycat has emerged.
