@citytransportinfo I'm sad to hear that. I was interested in learning more of the complexity of these systems. I would believe, this network and diversity of public transportation, adds to the overall appeal, and progress it's made in their cities. Why aren't these used anymore?
This was a Federal Government funded experiment, and after German reunification the Federal money was stopped, so when the experimental wooden bus track in the tunnels needed replacing it was cheaper for the Essen transport operator (EVAG) to end the use of buses in the tunnels. But the rest of the O-Bahn is still open.
