Canada has a crapload of iconic metal bands, regardless of how brutal they are. But if you wanna talk brutality, the Swedes and Germans defeat the world with Aeon and Defeated Sanity (respectively).

Devourment is good, but goregrind vox are annoying.

@rustytheginge I love Canadian death metal, cryptopsy is one of my favorite bands. Augury also kicks ass, as well as Quo Vadis. However, the U.S. scene INVENTED Death Metal Slayer (started it all) Death (IMO best band ever, Chuck is the father of death metal) Morbid Angel, Obituary. Sorry, U.S. wins. However, you failed to even mention the contributions of your own country with Venom. Very important to the genre as a whole.
