  • Its like a SmartBoard that most schools use

  • "a poor man's motion capture system"? how many poor men have laptops and wii's?

  • @al28283 I do, but that's because I got them when I wasn't a poor man. So, I will have a cheap motion tracking system until I have to pawn it off to survive :(

  • Laptops and Wiis are cheap compared to Matlab.

  • wait for natal :P

  • 1:54 it says hell haha

  • well if you write hello you have to write hell

  • @killer6468 ya but im just a retard that does that

  • If you place a known scale into the volume space to be detected can yo then measure an objects size with any accuracy? In other words do an as built survey of a portion of a room.

  • what is the maximum volume of space that this system can detect?

  • that is sweet, so many things can come from this!

  • very interessting

  • XD LMFAO! comment of Chequelito14 funny

i dont ment to be rude with that comment.

  • Great development on the 1 wiimote system!

  • sweeeeeeeeeet is that a thinkpad x6 series???

  • you ever thought about talking in commercials stuff announcer-guy?

  • You do have an excellent voice.

  • very interesting, going to do it with my wiinmotes now :P

  • damn time to start thinking.... if they stole the idea from him... he stole the idea from nintendo.... so what? progress is always about using existing ideas in slightly different ways.....

  • Quid, UK slang for Pounds Sterling.

  • wow, this was amazing...i hope to see more "inventions" like this!!

  • cool

  • Interesting video. I'd like to have more information. Can you use this setup with a laser pointer to scan-in 3D meshes?

I'd really like to see more information! What sort of math are you using for the calibration bit?

  • I love it! I mean, the idea might not be completely novel, but the video was great at explaining the concept. Still, I want more information!

I'll be scouring the Computer Laboratory's website for software, code, papers, or more video.

  • the guy who originally did this was johnny lee. he gives the woftware for free at his website:

    johnnylee . net

  • Yeah, but they're taking it a step further. It's just how innovation works. People take existing ideas and change/improve them.

Definitely give props to Johnny Lee, though. He's the pioneer. I hope he's been hired by nintendo or some other company by now.

  • As a matter of fact, he's now helping Microsoft of their Project NATAL...

  • He is working at Microsoft on project Naitle. (sp?) which is an effort to control computers and game systems just with hand and body motions. He holds several pattens. I'm sure he's doing just fine finacially.

  • however johnny used only one wiimote, and two LED's.

These guys get more accurate readings than johnny lee does on his head tracking application.

I also think it is impressive that they have the computer figure out where the wiimotes are by waving a pattern of LED's in front of the wiimotes.
