  • erm... I'm an Atheist too

but don't you think that creating groups like 'Minnesota Atheists' is a bit weird?

  • I love watching these videos but if you guys can control it, get rid of the dumbass mormon ads

  • With no religion... Gets shit done.

  • it's a lovely thought. the world would be a lot more peaceful

  • @LordSauceness I do not believe her actions were wrong, it was from love. People should just have there choice. Also, I do know how to prevent it. I myself am working with my studies and I have no interest in that activity, I wish I could say more for others, but sadly, I can't.

  • @LordSauceness I agree there shoud be prevention, I stilll believe that abortion should be 100% legal. Here is a story; 10 years ago when I was in 5th grade, my 11 year old self had a teacher. She was 6 months pregant, her baby had spinal bifida. At 6 months she want to have a abortion ONLY because the baby she loved would be in pain for, I don't know, 4 years of his life. I think it was wrong the baby had spinal bifida, I think it was wrong my catholic teachers said she was going to hell.

  • @mdigati1 I DEFF. do not believe in 1-2 children max per household, we would become like China! My mother has 4 chidren, I llove my siblings an dI deff. do not think the goverment should kill them or put them up for adoption.

  • They truly need this conference there… Kamloops is a truly scary, freemason-infested, religious cesspool. I lived there for over a year and it was the worst experience of my life.

  • it would be in Canada

  • Aww, wish they booked in Vancouver. I don't know if I'll be able to make it in Kamloops. I'll certainly try though.

  • Well, things are getting a little closer to where I am.

  • Should be "many more"

  • I'll be there. The first one was good - this one looks even better.

  • can't go wrong with you, krauss, and dillahunty, all who i would love to meet. my budget is limited though, so i'm not sure if i can make it.

i wish you people would have one of these things in saskatchewan once in a while, that would make it a lot easier on me.

  • Since religions are a philosophy based on fear and control, I'll be interested to know how many religious fanatics will show up in protest?

  • @coyoteself Last year, we had a few trolls turn up to the Friday night talk by PZ Myers. PZ wasn't too kind to one lady. You can see it somewhere here on YouTube.

  • @coyoteself Search "PZ Myers Forum". The lady starts at 1:13:30. Then PZ answers. Total time about 4 or 5 minutes.

  • Why Kamloops and not Vancouver? Would love to go!:)

  • Looks like bull$hit to me.

  • I missed the show again, can some one please send me a link the day before, Thanks.

  • @TheThinkingAtheist -- Can you explain in one of your video .. that we feel pain because of our nervous system ,A soul dont have it and this mean it cant feel pain .. so Burning in hell do not make any sense, because a non physical object cant burn or feel pain :P

  • I will be there :D We will have lunch together -nodnod- YAY!

  • @LordSauceness I am training to bs a Doctor and we cannot, 95% of the time, keep alive a 3 or 4 month old child. Just let people do what THEY think is goid for themselves. I don't understand why people take away peoples rights because they think it is wrong, like gay marriage. Let them get married, how is it affecting anyone? It doesn't. Same with abortion. It is the mother choice, it SHOULDN'T be anyone elses.

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo I agree mostly, but a DNX abortion is pretty hideous and is done in the 3rd trimester when the embryo is viable. There needs to be some compromise on both sides of the issue I think. I believe in the woman's right, but as a humanist/agnostic I also don't believe in harming a living human being.

  • @LordSauceness Did I say my opinion is better? My opinion lets everyone have their rights (Im still learning english, so don't be a dick about my english). Do NOT call me ignorant. I can have conversations with open-minded people. Not people who thinks abortion should be illegal. Do you know this worlds population count? I grew up in a 3rd world country and I KNOW we don't need another billion people. I am an educated, intellgent woman who knows 3 languages. And no you are wrong.

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo *Not people who thinks abortion should be illegal.*

Not once did I ever say abortion should be illega!. There's a big gap rigtht now between wanton abortion & making it illegal. Abortion is basically today just birth control. There must be some middle ground between pro life & pro choice. I'm not religious in any way, but I do have respect for human life & understand how unique we are as a species that evolved on this planet.

    Controlling population via abortion? Wow!

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo I agree. The population is seriously out of control. We need birth limits I think. One or two children max per couple.

  • @mdigati1 Finally, some people that have the same opinion on the population as me -_-;;;

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo *And no you are wrong*

I'm wrong about what? I'm asking questions, & pointing what's going on in the abortion world. I don't buy the women's 'right's issue. There's 3 people involved in any pregnancy: The father, the mother & the unborn child. Do women's rights supercede those of the other 2?

Using abortion for birth control shows a flagrant disregard for the uniqueness of human life. Abortions are being committed in the 3rd trimester and that just can't be right.

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo * I am an educated, intellgent woman who knows 3 languages. *

If you are so smart, then you know very well how to prevent pregnancy in the first place. Let me give YOU some unsolicited advice: Go educate other third world women about prevention & then everyone can enjoy a better quality of life. Let's put the blame where it belongs: On religion (especially the Cathotlic Church) that discourages birth control. Education is the key, & you know that.

  • @LordSauceness Not only is that only 3 weeks off of 6 months, but DOCTORS had to keep it alive. In nature, if a 21 week baby was born, he or she would be dead VERY quickly. It is the womans choice since her body is keeping the life form alive. Here is some advice, if you don't like abortion, don't have one. And don't ask stuipd hypothetical questions. And taking AWAY abortion would take away a WOMANS RIGHT to have a procedure done to them.

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo *Here is some advice, if you don't like abortion, don't have on*

Go take your advice motherfucker & shove it up your ass. What the fuck makes your think your goddamn opinion is better than mine? Christ...can't even have an intelligent converstation about a very important topic without some dipshit know-it-all giving me advice. If my old lady got knocked by me you better fucking believe I gotta say in what happens next. geesh. Doctors keep all kinds of people alive.....

  • Re: Abortion

If men were the ones giving birth we wouldn't be having this discussion. Not in a million years.

  • I really do hope they have sam launchers stationed near the convention centre, or alot of security detail.

    Alalalala BOOM!

there goes some of the most brilliant people on the planet.

  • oh for the love of god add seth macflarne already,

  • @ShooterCinema

there is so much irony in your comment

you should of said "for the love of darwin"

or for the love of "please insert evidence here"

  • @denslat1

uumh you mean evendince for evolution or that seth macfarlane is atheist?

it was ment to be ironic

  • Is this a real thing. Militant atheism and the concept of abolishing religion? If so, how do you guys plan to go about doing such?

  • @johhnycarlos *Militant atheism and the concept of abolishing religion? If so, how do you guys plan to go about doing such?*

When my 3 year old grandaughter came down with Scarlet fever, the Christians in the fam were praying to God. I countered with 'ok, without anti-biotics, what would her chances of survival on prayer alone be?"

I consider it my right to attack stupid beliefs (like prayer when sick) with the facts of our modern wonders anytime it crosses my path. That's 'militant'.

  • @LordSauceness Is it not possible to have both prayer and anti biotics working at the same time? I dont see the contradiction if its there.

  • Damn... I live in Canada...

  • yea .. canada suck donkey cock!

  • Wow! Finally a convention that's actually close by! ... but damn it... Vacations already booked for 2 months before.

Well, at least I have about 4 months to see if I can maybe work things out. It would be pretty damned awesome to go. :D

  • so ive enn the fac e of TB teh face of Chuggaconroy... and now iwe seen seth ...yep guess i can die happy now

  • Finally something in my country AND my province! I am gonna try and go.

  • dammit - why do all of these things happen in America

    y u no come here

  • @Nichordnaruto You mean /NORTH/ america. Since this one is happening in Canada.

(As a Canadian, I feel it my duty to politely, but firmly inform you, that we are not the same country.)

  • "imagine no religion" john lenon.

  • Comment removed

  • Imagine No Religion? Fools! You will never be able to get rid of the flying spaghetti monster!

  • @bmehoota Is there such a thing. How militant a concept to wish to deny people their rights to what makes them happy and how they chose to derive meaning from life.

  • @bmehoota Ramen brother!

  • @bmehoota Are you delusional? The flying spaghetti monster doesn't exist, it was created by people! :)

  • @aureez You must be delusional. The flying spaghetti monster loves you unconditionally. I'll pray for you tonight so you can be saved.

  • @TwinBladeFury If you did know my life story you would hate that saulty fat mtfka. But, pray, fury, pray..

  • @aureez No matter what your life story is, he has a plan for you, and he loves you. How could you question the love of the spaghetti monster? Have you no morals?

  • @TwinBladeFury Spaghetti monster was deep in my heart until i became age of 33. Then suddenly i felt lots of pain( shigmata) and that continued for four days and fourty four minutes.., so i understood it was a sign to run to doctor. She checked the blood and you know what?- Your blood was too salty, she said and gave me a magic pill. Since that moment i have new God- mefrau Fokim Ghmunakatanktna!

  • Cool.

  • cool in bc

  • right, if i just grab an old bible, sign it it J.Christ. then sell it on e-bay to right win evangelicals that should be my flights etc paid for.

  • @LordSauceness It is not a fully grown human untill 6 months! I don't believe you should treat abortion like a birth control pill. But, I believe people should have the right to do what they want with thier body.

  • @oOToStopANightmareOo * It is not a fully grown human untill 6 months!*

Doctors have kept alive a 21 week old preemie that has thrived & survived. At 9.5 inches long & weighing @ less than 10 ounces! If this had been an abortion instead, why would it not be considered murder or manslaughter at the very least?

Do people really have the right to do what they want with their bodies? Suicide? Cutting off limbs? Who on earth would agree those actions are sane?

  • @LordSauceness Euthanasia should be legal.

  • @samconran

    Too soon :(

  • live in u.k anyone care to send me plane fare and ticket? love the logo by the way nicely done.

    regards

  • Sounds great

  • Watched half a minute to commercial to watch a whole minute to commercial...

  • Will Thunderf00t be there?

  • Just bought my ticket! Can't wait xD

  • *and many more. much = amount, many = number.

  • @alex12123002 Yeah. But I played it like "appearances by" because there are events as well as speakers. Comedy show. Dinners. Breakouts. Etc.

  • @TheThinkingAtheist I suppose that makes sense, but it confused me because the list was a list of people. If it were a mixed list, I probably wouldn't have had my visceral-bad-grammar-attack response :P

  • @alex12123002 Nah. You're correct. I probably could have done a better job of phrasing it. :)

  • WHAT!!! I live 2 hours away from Kamloops, hopefully I will still in May!

  • imagine all the people living life in peace do dooooo do do do

  • Religion is like "The Game". Once someone tells you the rules you have play and you always lose^^

  • I've come a long way from a born-again fundie to what is basically now a militant type of atheist, but I still can't wrap my mind around wanton abortion. They are killing fully formed humans and claiming women's rights. I just can't see it. When exactly does murder begin?

  • @LordSauceness What do you mean fully formed humans? Have you seen a picture of a 1 or 2 month old fetus? They have TAILS. It's a grey area as to when a fetus becomes self aware, but you're kidding yourself to think it's at the point when the sperm meets the egg. Or are you talking about late term abortions? I don't think anyone likes those friend. Those aren't done just because the mother doesn't want the child, they are for emergencies only when the mothers life is in danger.

  • @zacthebold *It's a grey area as to when a fetus becomes self aware*

I do believe we become self aware around the age of 2. No fetus would be self aware at any time. Most abortions are done for birth control. It's a sticky issue I agree. but technology has pushed the limits of premature birth to the point where I don't think there is an argument about when it becomes murder v.s women's rights. A woman does not get pregnant by herself so it becomes more that her right to whatever. IMHO

  • @zacthebold *but you're kidding yourself to think it's at the point when the sperm meets the egg*

I never said that. You assume way too much. However, there are & have been abortions at the point when the aborted baby could be saved & kept alive but instead gets tossed into the garbage. Those are the facts, plain & simple & respect for human life tells me that can't be right.

  • @LordSauceness Perhaps "self aware" was too strong of a phrase. If you don't think life begins at conception what is the problem with first trimester abortions? A person's stance on abortion is not an all in or all out situation, even if many would make it seem that way. I myself find the idea of a "partial birth" abortion for the purpose of birth control to be disgusting.

  • @LordSauceness Just because one is an atheist doesn't mean one loves abortion. And I think many struggle with exactly when cellular life becomes human life. It's a difficult thing.

I also disagree that mainstream Christians oppose option because they hate women or wish to see them without rights. Mainstream Christians oppose abortion because they believe that a human life begins at the very second of conception, and they're working to preserve a life. This is important to understand.

  • @TheThinkingAtheist *Mainstream Christians oppose abortion because they believe that a human life begins at the very second of conception, and they're working to preserve a life.

Yes, indeed. That is the main thrust behind the anti-abortion movement. My point tho, is that we should look at the issue more deeply. The soul has nothing to do with fully formed baby humans being aborted. It's murder under the guise of women's 'rights', and needs to be addressed without religious overtones. IMHO

  • @TheThinkingAtheist One of the interesting things about antiabortionist, is that they'll stand up for the rights of an unborn fetus. But once the child is born, many of them turn their back on it and oppose the various social, economic & health care programs that may be required to help the child, or the unwed, single mother w/o a job.

The other bazaar thing about many antiabortionist is that many of them are pro war & pro death penalty. Yet they see absolutely nothing wrong in their thinking

  • @LordSauceness Atheism and abortion are two separate things. Once you break away from religious dogma, you realize that one can be atheist AND pro- or anti-abortion AND conservative or liberal or whatever. It's your call. There's no atheist priest spoon feeding you your beliefs. Just run with YOUR feelings. Make peace with yourself.

  • @taowizard *Atheism and abortion are two separate things*

However, in this video we are commenting on, there is a picture of a woman, (Joyce Arthur), a director of an abortion rights group that was included with well known atheists. This is what go me thinking & commenting on the issue.

I am at peace with myself. That doesn't change the fact that we need to tweek the abortion laws a bit

  • @taowizard i agree. atheism is one stance on one topic: the existence of a god or gods. namely, it is the stance that one does not believe in such things. whatever else an atheist believes does not disqualify them from being atheist.

  • @LordSauceness I think most people think there should be some limits. At 8.9 months, it seems obvious it would be wrong. And I don't see how you could possibly think it starts at conception without religion. I think the labels "pro-life" and "pro-choice" are terrible. Where is the line between them? I'm guessing the two groups agree more than they would like to admit, but just divide along party lines. One side thinks that everyone on the other side want to define ...[continued]

  • @LordSauceness [part 2] life "at erection", regardless of the cause of pregnancy (such as rape) or high risk of death to the mom. The others think the opposing group believe 9 month old pregnancies should be available at every McDonald's, paid for by the government. For me personally, I think the right to abortion should be lost before the gender is identifiable for non-rape or life threatening reasons. Although I wonder if that would actually reduce the rate of aborotions..[cont]

  • @Codylupardus *For me personally, I think the right to abortion should be lost before the gender is identifiable for non-rape or life threatening reasons. Although I wonder if that would actually reduce the rate of aborotions*

Excellent point. We need to start somewhere!

  • @LordSauceness [part 3] Where safe abortions are not, methods such as coat hangers are used. Which hurt the carrier and (if done after the baby can feel) the baby more. I think abortion should be made unnecessary (except for rape/life-threatening cases) by educating both men and women on proper prevention and providing the means to do so. [cont]

  • @LordSauceness [part 4] I think the main reason atheist make fun of pro-lifers is because the people who are pro-life tend to be the more religious, and many stand in the way of contraception for solely religious reasons. They want to "have their cake and eat it too." They claim to care about life, but are they are part of a group that supports wars the most. The eat the flesh of animals abused in CAFOs for months without batting an eye. They are inconsistent with their beliefs.

  • @LordSauceness Abortion makes life an arbitrary thing. Either life beings at the point of conception and optional abortions are murder or one needs to struggle with the moral viability of full term abortions. It doesnt make any logical sense to say at point X in the pregnancy the "thing" becomes a child and you cant kill it.

  • @johhnycarlos *Either life beings at the point of conception and optional abortions are murder...*

I would argue that POTENTIAL life begins at conception. Intially, all we have is cell division. There's no sense tossing out the baby with the bath water. If an unborn baby can be saved via premature birth saving techniques, but the mother aborts 'it' instead, is this not murder in disguise?

Arguing when the fetus becomes a person is arbritrary indeed. But do we just keep the status quo?

  • @LordSauceness I would absolutley agree that it is murder in disguise. In my opinion, though just cellular division, conception in a fertilized egg begins life. You have x and y causing z to come into being that otherwise would not happen and would not exist. That change from x and y to z is where life beings. There are such things as accidental parents, but no accidental babies. The chance of any of us being here is .00000000357%

  • @LordSauceness I also have struggled with this. I was very fundamentalist in my beliefs and am now an Agnostic, however, I too believe that abortions kills a living entity. I believe that abortion should not be used as a form of birth control, however, I also believe that the decision is the woman's to make. DNX abortions where the baby is breech birthed and then stabbed in the back of the head to have his brains sucked out is pretty obvious to me to be murder. Many would adopt that baby.

  • @mdigati1 Stop being so simple minded and inform yourself please. D&X Part-birth Surgery is applied to an already dead foetus in order to allow it to pass without having to extensively dilate the cervix...

  • @LordSauceness Most abortions happen when the EMBRYO is not even close to fully formed... or even viable. Generally abortions are performed in the first few weeks of the trimester, before the embryo can even feel pain.

  • Where's this music from? I could've sworn I've heard it before...

  • SERIOUSLY YOUTUBE, i got an ad from Baha'i faith. what the fuck...

  • Bah, everything happens in America...

  • isnt dawkins going?

  • Wow, I want to go, but I'm on the wrong side of the planet

  • I would go.... except it costs me like 600$ for my flight, 400$ for my hotel, and the tickets are like 200$ and I'm like... a college student. ._.

  • When you guys going to have these events in Australia so I can attend them :p

  • @Grieyls check out atheistconvention org au no Seth, but some other big names.

  • This is...... really fucking far from me :'(

  • This is.... really fucking close to me.

  • if it were like 3 days earlier, i could have gone :(

  • Got my ticket, looking forward to it

  • I wish I was be invited

  • Yay Canada!

  • No Aron Ra?

  • Woo! Matt Dillahunty!

  • Hmmm, might fly out to see that!

  • Theres no way I can come :/. hope it gets put on YouTube!

  • I heard the ghost of Darwin himself is gonna be there. =o

  • Aw why Canada? So many great people. I definitely would've gone if it wasn't in Canada. Boooo

  • @jessi8911

    What's wrong with Canada?....

  • @s0nic777 Perhaps because of the expenses from leaving the country.

  • Great :)

  • Damn it! The whole video I'm like, "Oooh! Oooooh! OOOOOOH! Where's it gonna be!?" At 0:48, "British Columbia!? FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUU!"

  • I always wondered what your last name is! I'm pretty sure this is the only source that tells it.

  • @bendavis575 haha same here!

  • I would DEFINITELY go if I wasn't living of the American East coast... ho well, maybe the 3rd one will be closer! ;)

  • I wish so badly that I could attend this event but school must come first.

  • I've never been more upset that i don't live their anymore

  • Can I see the "Imagine No Religion" 1 anywhere?!

  • @Dennissays It's on the INR website. Link is in the video description.

  • I'm going! Looking forward to seeing Matt Dillahunty in the debate!

  • @sixcats100 He says what I wish I had the guts to say. I really can't unless I want to end up even more isolated than I already am, which is pretty fucking isolated.

  • DO WANT... damn, Canada. :(

  • Boo at the time and place. I am also a broke college student waaaaay far away from Canada. I'm near the US's other neighbors. =_=

  • I'll bring the popcorn !

  • This is the first time I've seen a picture of Seth...Damn man, you SCARRRRY :P

  • lol I thought that was a Tears for Fears song for a second, there. The video looks great, as always. Wish I could be there.

  • Damn my being a broke college student down in Florida. . .

  • @bencapra Hey, at least you're a college student! I am just broke in Florida! lol

  • i hope it will be held in San Francisco, CA. including Richard Dawkins as one of the speaker.

  • Why does this have to be so far away from where I live? Dang it!

  • I get scared everytime atheists get together, because if a fire breaks out, or somthing, the crazies will use it as ammunition.

  • @ThatFuckingAtheist I'm assuming you meant ammunition to reference hell or whatever... but I prefer the literal path. Flamthrowers? YES PLEASE!

  • @ZellMurasame Flame throwers?

    IM IN

  • @ZellMurasame Flame throwers?

    IM IN

  • @ThatFuckingAtheist I'm worried the crazies will be the ones STARTING the fire!

  • @ThatFuckingAtheist "I get scared everytime atheists get together, because if a fire breaks out, or somthing, the crazies will use it as ammunition."

You'll be happy to know then, that if the AAI's 4th Annual Texas Freethought Convention was any indication, we atheists bring rain with us to places suffering so badly from droughts and fires that even official, state-led invocations to Yahweh are powerless. =)

Plus, we wouldn't kneel down praying for a deity to save us.

  • Awesome :D

  • Seth, your production value is always incredible... Keep it up!

  • shouldn't it be 'and many more'? Since people are countables?

  • Seth looks like Dr. House to me.

  • "Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us only sky." - John Lennon I thought of those lyrics when I read the video title.

  • None of this would've gotten place if humanity wouldn't have grown the fuck up.

  • I don't want to just imagine it.

  • Damn I'd love to go if I had the free time.

  • @CamelJaq Its in May, 2012 how do you know you wont have free time ?

  • @baznian School that Friday. Not to mention I'm all the way over here in New England lol. I'd have to set aside Thursday and Monday for the travel.

  • Put the event on Youtube, please. I want to watch because I can't go.

  • Damn...I would totally go except I am running Fargo's Marathon on the 19th... Have fun and learn lots all those who attend!

  • Ooh, i live in BC!

  • wish i could go. but hey its alright cuz ill be at the reason rally in march! woot!
