I played WOW and I no longer play it. I did buy gold from one of those Chinese farmer websites. I found it very weird since they barely spoke english on the phone and were super cautious online. I suppose they were afraid, just as you said, that the FBI was going to hack into and find out who they were. and prosecute them. I do not think I will attempt this with SWTOR. I would like to get my own speeder like the Collector Edition people got but I do not need it that much.

just had my account hacked. not sure what the hacker was doing, but my account was banned and i still haven't gone through all red tape the email from blizzard said I would have to go through. this happens A LOT. its b.s. that blizzard doesn't make it harder to hack a wow account. now I, the customer, have to go through all this b.s. to get my account back. i'm probably just going to cancel my membership.
Gunns , it seems like you haven't really played MMOs . I haven't really played any MMO other than Lineage 2 .
I don't know how it works for WoW or any other game . But in Lineage 2 , it's all about clan/alliance domination , which is achieved through buying Adena ( the currency ) . If you don't get more adena it's really difficult to get pretty much anywhere , and you really don't enjoy the game as much as the other people who payed and have tons of more items than you cuz they own you easily .
I've never play WoW but i find it that it's pretty smart that they are doing it. Not encourging hacking peoples accounts to steal gold or whatever but just saying it's kinda smart.

As far as legal system is concerned, it might be legitimate business. But for the companies that run these MMO games - it is not. Firstly because selling anything what you get in game is not allowed by TOS, be it gear, in game money or accounts. Secondly, all this money is collected using illegal methods. Stealing from other players or using bots to farm that money.
The most shocking thing to me is that there are people buying in game currency... That's why these companies exist.
i don't play wow but i've seen other games that sell ingame currency for real life money and they meet you in the game to give you the money so you can't really get hacked

My WoW account has been hacked twice and both times all my stuff was stolen, i think mine was hacked due to me downloading addons for the game such as things that count your DPS (Damage Per Second) and stuff like that.
A buddy of mine who also plays WoW has bought gold of these companies and he has never had a problem with them and they have even given him extra gold when they have been slow to deliver, so if you are going to buy gold or credits buy it from a larger gold selling company.
i wouldnt run a business using virtual currency its just too risky and could lead into crime with the greed that overtakes you when you see easy possibilities to hack and steal money

Buying and selling virtual currency is illegal. Companies like Blizzard and Bioware will ban your account is suspected of buying gold or credits and the websites that sell the currency are often plagued with keyloggers and viruses to hack your account password. That is how they get the gold and credits to began with they steal it from peoples accounts and resell it in their site. IT IS ILLEGAL TO BUY VIRTUAL CURRENCY GUNNS! Stop implying you should do it if you like the game.
However.. Anyone else absolutely freaking AMPED UP about SWTOR?!?!? Easily one of my top 3 anticipated games right now. Probably #1 for me, but its a close battle between BF3, SWTOR and Skyrim. (MW3 is in there too, but to me, its an expectation, not something Im anticipating like these other titles. personally.)

I logged in one to find every character pretty much stripped of gold and inventory. Even my low level 8 alt had all of her fresh boat meat sold.
HOWEVER my level 80 druid still had her 400 odd nogginfogger elixit! Which is strange as those sell for 35 silver a stack and i had at least 32 stacks.
Anyway, I do find the idea of gold selling revolting. It idolises an unhealthy environment, promotes laziness and fraudulent activities.
@Caytel In fairness gold selling would not be so popular if people weren't so willing to buy it, and why is that? Because these games are huge unforgiving time-sinks. I get that goldsellers also ramp up the prices of everything but as long as it doesn't become hugely popular I encourage it. 35% Would be a good number. Doesn't matter if it's hacked if it's in a game like WoW because Blizzard gives the hacked player it back. These games are played for fun at the end of the day, not for a job.

I've been hacked before but the thing that sucks is I've never bought gold ever and I have been playing WoW for over 4 years. Personally I think gold farmers or whichever you'd like to call them are nothing but a bunch of parasites that plague MMO's. The one game developer who makes a MMO game and makes it legal to sell items and curency gonna win this MMO war! That game would rock and become more than just a game. Always wanted to put up my own store and sell stuff to others. Also put in some minor commercial in the game, for example when you launch it you may see. "Pepsi, goes great with this game" or "Phillips, new headphones are out" DANG!!! 100 billions dollar in the game developers pocket making our MMO even better!
Personally, I would never pay real money for electronic goods that are easily attainable in game. I plan on being "at the starting line" - as you mentioned - for Diablo 3!!! I remember when D2 items were selling for $500-$1000 on ebay about 8-9 years ago.

Hey Gunns just a heads up that buying the gold people are selling is a violation of the MMO's TOS. If you get cought and you do 50% of the time. You get all your gold you purchased deleted and a temporary ban. Also the people selling it violate the TOS and can get a permanent ban.

I used to play wow. I never bought gold as it goes against playing the game. I mean, what is the point? You play to get better but if you buy your gold then it defeats the objective and would most likely get boring as you can't do much else after leveling.

the gold and lvling serveses are not usefull you can make alot of gold if you chouse you professonss wisley like being a julecrafter or a blacksmiter you can make alot. just put the time in to get you professions to max lvl and your cheracther too

My WoW account has been hacked twice and both times all my stuff was stolen, i think mine was hacked due to me downloading addons for the game such as things that count your DPS (Damage Per Second) and stuff like that.
A buddy of mine who also plays WoW has bought gold of these companies and he has never had a problem with them and they have even given him extra gold when they have been slow to deliver, so if you are going to buy gold or credits buy it from a larger gold selling company.

Buying and selling virtual currency is illegal. Companies like Blizzard and Bioware will ban your account is suspected of buying gold or credits and the websites that sell the currency are often plagued with keyloggers and viruses to hack your account password. That is how they get the gold and credits to began with they steal it from peoples accounts and resell it in their site. IT IS ILLEGAL TO BUY VIRTUAL CURRENCY GUNNS! Stop implying you should do it if you like the game.

Ill be honest, doesnt surprise me one bit.
However.. Anyone else absolutely freaking AMPED UP about SWTOR?!?!? Easily one of my top 3 anticipated games right now. Probably #1 for me, but its a close battle between BF3, SWTOR and Skyrim. (MW3 is in there too, but to me, its an expectation, not something Im anticipating like these other titles. personally.)

thats strange for gold or credit farmers to be in buisness for a game not even released yet... with a new game everyone starts the same from the bottom so it doesnt make sense to buy gold. I will say that I have bought gold for 1 mmo i played because there was in game inflation and nothing was affordable if you didnt buy gold

I logged in one to find every character pretty much stripped of gold and inventory. Even my low level 8 alt had all of her fresh boat meat sold.
HOWEVER my level 80 druid still had her 400 odd nogginfogger elixit! Which is strange as those sell for 35 silver a stack and i had at least 32 stacks.
Anyway, I do find the idea of gold selling revolting. It idolises an unhealthy environment, promotes laziness and fraudulent activities.
It's despicable.

@Caytel In fairness gold selling would not be so popular if people weren't so willing to buy it, and why is that? Because these games are huge unforgiving time-sinks. I get that goldsellers also ramp up the prices of everything but as long as it doesn't become hugely popular I encourage it. 35% Would be a good number. Doesn't matter if it's hacked if it's in a game like WoW because Blizzard gives the hacked player it back. These games are played for fun at the end of the day, not for a job.

I've been hacked before but the thing that sucks is I've never bought gold ever and I have been playing WoW for over 4 years. Personally I think gold farmers or whichever you'd like to call them are nothing but a bunch of parasites that plague MMO's. The cool thing is when i got hacked I got my character restored in no more then 20 min. Sorry for the rant but I hate gold farmers/sellers with a fiery passion.

The one game developer who makes a MMO game and makes it legal to sell items and curency gonna win this MMO war! That game would rock and become more than just a game. Always wanted to put up my own store and sell stuff to others. Also put in some minor commercial in the game, for example when you launch it you may see. "Pepsi, goes great with this game" or "Phillips, new headphones are out" DANG!!! 100 billions dollar in the game developers pocket making our MMO even better!

Personally, I would never pay real money for electronic goods that are easily attainable in game. I plan on being "at the starting line" - as you mentioned - for Diablo 3!!! I remember when D2 items were selling for $500-$1000 on ebay about 8-9 years ago.

Hey Gunns just a heads up that buying the gold people are selling is a violation of the MMO's TOS. If you get cought and you do 50% of the time. You get all your gold you purchased deleted and a temporary ban. Also the people selling it violate the TOS and can get a permanent ban.

Even if it was legal to buy currency i wouldnt do it. alot of WoW gold purchasing sites are actually sites that will give you a key logger where they will hack your account and sell your gear for more gold

I used to play wow. I never bought gold as it goes against playing the game. I mean, what is the point? You play to get better but if you buy your gold then it defeats the objective and would most likely get boring as you can't do much else after leveling.

That same day his account got banned he found out 30,000 other wow players were banned as well for the same thing
