1st-Even your interpretation of this verse is off, when i smoke marijuana i do not seek to reach the dead or other Gods. You would know this if you have smoked it. Therefore this verse is not applicable.
2nd- Classic example of circular reasoning. "Why is the sky blue"-"Because it is blue". This is about the same as, "why is smoking marijuana wrong?" "Because its wrong".
3rd- it does effect short term memory; however, you should ask my harvard bound valedictorian pot head.

I believe that anything that takes your mind off of God is not good for Christians. I use to smoke marijuana and then I would WANT to read the Bible and I would and couldn't understand it clearly. Then there was the guilt that followed after getting high and I use to tell myself "Look, Nickole, you need to quit smoking weed." Long story short, I finally did. When I read the Bible now its MUCH easier to understand- even though you still need God to help you understand the things that are in it.

Smoking pot and reading the Gospels is one of my favorite pass times. It stimulates my intuition and creativity, which is really the kind of state of mind you should have when reading the Bible. Religion is something that shouldn't be approached analytically. I don't really see what the big commotion about pot is. I think the focus should be directed against addictive, deadly drugs like heroin.

I believe that anything that takes your mind off of God is not good for Christians. I use to smoke marijuana and then I would WANT to read the Bible and I would and couldn't understand it clearly. Then there was the guilt that followed after getting high and I use to tell myself "Look, Nickole, you need to quit smoking weed." Long story short, I finally did. When I read the Bible now its MUCH easier to understand- even though you still need God to help you understand the things that are in it.

Smoking pot and reading the Gospels is one of my favorite pass times. It stimulates my intuition and creativity, which is really the kind of state of mind you should have when reading the Bible. Religion is something that shouldn't be approached analytically. I don't really see what the big commotion about pot is. I think the focus should be directed against addictive, deadly drugs like heroin.

@PullyElbow27 Anything which alters your body physically is a "drug," however that word has been demonized by law enforcement who want you to keep believing all drugs are bad. That's the only way they receive any sort of support from the public for wasting tremendous amounts of money fighting their drug wars. They rely on the public not to look into what they're actually putting their taxes into, which, in marijuana's case, is completely unjust and ridiculous.
