  • Diptanshu, I tune my dotara strings as follows: the first string (inner) G sharp. The middle two strings C sharp and the outer string F sharp. Can you please tell me how you tuned your dotara;s four strings? It seems that you tuned the middle two stings differently. Am I right? Thanks.

  • Very beautiful...very good job done. Really enjoyed it.

Is it possible for you to arrange one dotara for me, I'm based out of New Delhi and can't find it here.

  • amazing man, m trying to play the dotara my self, its kinda self learning thing, hope if u can help me a bit on this???

  • beautiful playing! do you know where one would purchase a dotara of this type? unfortunately in the states they only sell a droning variety.

  • @neelofazrath : name of the song..."morute elen re mohommod mothura te elen shyam eman khela..............."

  • Thanks bro, for your music

  • someone please send me a message. i just bought a two string tumbi (ektara), and i dont know how to play it well. someone please help me with the basics. Its not the smaller tumbis you see...its the big one with a pumpkin gourd body and goatskin stretched over it. thx.

  • chai ananda chai prem?

  • diptanshu.. Bless yu buddy.. just for doing what you have to dotara... i play the sarod so i know how tough it is what you have done.. Blees u bro

  • @cacofonixx glad u enjoyed it... i cant play much on it though :p

  • Where can I buy one of those dotara ? how much would it cost in USD ? I really want to buy one that looks like that. If anyone could help me out, please let me know.

  • @Daedalus294 they dont cost much but they are quite fragile and they do not come in a hard box! this ones about 50 USD. but then the place is like a village and there is cost involved in going there in a train, staying overnight and getting it... and i guess shipping will also cost a lot nothing less than 100 USD... i have to check...

the ideal thing is to ask someone to carry it for you... so unless u badly need it right away its best to wait till u travel this side.

  • @Daedalus294

I have one for sale. Google my site Keshav-music

don't want to list my email address here

  • Dotara? new instrumet for me!

  • thanks you...

  • If one could hear a desert at sunrise, it would surely sound like this. You play really beautifully. Is this folk song Indian?

  • heya its a folk song from india thats right.

  • Beautiful sound -- lovely playing. I'd like to know more about that instrument and for sure the pick is amazing. Great job and fine video. Are you jamming or is that a song with a name?

  • its a song but i dont know the name of this one :(

  • @diptanshu What I see on the screen , the dotara seems to have a single middle string instead of the usual two, which are tuned to the same key - normally c sharp for Bengali folk music. Is it my eyes?

  • this is lovely, very evocative

  • hey Eleanor, how are you? thanks for watching me learn the dotara :)

  • Very nice! Love that sound!

  • very cool...

  • be-a-utiful! - is it yours? (you said you were looking for one ...) interesting picking style. complimenti.
