Diptanshu, I tune my dotara strings as follows: the first string (inner) G sharp. The middle two strings C sharp and the outer string F sharp. Can you please tell me how you tuned your dotara;s four strings? It seems that you tuned the middle two stings differently. Am I right? Thanks.
someone please send me a message. i just bought a two string tumbi (ektara), and i dont know how to play it well. someone please help me with the basics. Its not the smaller tumbis you see...its the big one with a pumpkin gourd body and goatskin stretched over it. thx.
Where can I buy one of those dotara ? how much would it cost in USD ? I really want to buy one that looks like that. If anyone could help me out, please let me know.
@Daedalus294 they dont cost much but they are quite fragile and they do not come in a hard box! this ones about 50 USD. but then the place is like a village and there is cost involved in going there in a train, staying overnight and getting it... and i guess shipping will also cost a lot nothing less than 100 USD... i have to check...
the ideal thing is to ask someone to carry it for you... so unless u badly need it right away its best to wait till u travel this side.
thanks 4 da reply, actually this is my first time in music, so I am little bit nervous. Can you tell me some word of the song, so I can sing it to my teacher, and he can play it. Again thanks 4 da reply.
Can you please tell me the name of the song ?? And also I am learning to play dotara, but the person teaching me not dont know about octde ( but he is damn good in playing it ) and and I am having tough time just to hear the misic and playing it, any suggestion ???
Beautiful sound -- lovely playing. I'd like to know more about that instrument and for sure the pick is amazing. Great job and fine video. Are you jamming or is that a song with a name?
@diptanshu What I see on the screen , the dotara seems to have a single middle string instead of the usual two, which are tuned to the same key - normally c sharp for Bengali folk music. Is it my eyes?

If one could hear a desert at sunrise, it would surely sound like this. You play really beautifully. Is this folk song Indian?
