How can you call this the best blues player , geez get one thing clear in ure head , whats classical cant be beaten . listen to some Robert Johnson , Muddy Waters or John Lee Hooker and then tell us if this guy is the best solo blues player .
@jighead81 `JIGHEAD`are you not sure `DICKHEAD` might be more appropriate? For a guitar expert like yourself, to come up with such a statement, with no constructive criticism, does not add to the discussion one little bit.
the weird thing about Walter's playing is that he is THE MOST UNBLUESY guitarist I have ever heard there is not an iota of blues in his playing ,he sounds like Gary Rickrath of REO or TED NUGENT but those guys don't consider themselves blues players, the other thing his songs are incredibly derivative ,when he plays fast it all turns to MUSH ,I know what I'm talking about cause I come from the same hard rock back ground also there are a lot of notes that are off key or out of tune in this vid
how can you quantify "the best" when there are so many different styles encompassed within the generalised "blues" genre. Which is better ,chalk or cheese?, red or blue?, son house or gary moore?. I have no answer, but of its kind, this performance is very impressive. Guitar shredding, as you put it is a very powerful form of music, and should not be dismissed.
Thanks for posting.....the only real issue is whether any living guitar player even comes close.....check out the Leeds video and the show with Buddy Guy. incredible!
To reply to your reply...I not only have heard of a "guitar" before, I own several, ply, and have watched seen him live in Minneapolis and Northern Minnesota, Painful, same repetitive overblown cliche riddled licks. Most have never heard of him, because he is a nominal song writer, and the "songs" sound like merely scale exercises. Just sayin'
what a strange and nonintelligable post, you tear the man apart then admit to having seen him twice post something better and we can perhaps judge your level
@bluesinduluth Gary Moore is one of the few living guitarists who play with much feeling. It's difficult to have both technique and feeling but Gary have it both.
Sloppy, sounds like every other Walter Trout tune, same tired over played licks and ruiffs...nothing more than guitar masturbation. Hideous tone. Other than that...it's pretty good for a beginner!
@colderbythelake who the fuck are you? people like you never cease to amaze me. you know it all but DON'T ACTUALLY DO IT!!!!! comment when you stop tasting sour grapes
took my 15yr old son to see wtb in swansea on the 13th oct. he was awesome as you'd expect, small venue really loud, spoke to the great man afterwards, what a genuinely nice guy.
great player, great tone, great band

I like Walter, but he is a sliner. He is not up there with Clapton, Moore, or even Bonomassa.
