There was more recent big-budget bomb, Bonfire of the Vanities. The director would later say, "But I mean, nobody realized it was going wrong when we were making it. We were very enthusiastic about what we were doing". That film also changed major characters and plotlines from the original serial publication. It's probably what happed in Raise the Titanic. The changes disappointed fans of the novel and also in themselves seemed absurb.
odd as i thought it was a good movie... was one of the inspirations for me to write my spin on what really happened to the Titanic and the "alleged" accident.
Great that your are getting a behind the scenes book published, it maybe a bit late but have you talked to John Barry about his magnificent score for this film, its probably the highlight of the film for me as I'm a fan of soundtracks.
Good luck on the book and you have a great channel.
I am a huge Titanic buff and have read several books on the subject. I saw part of "Raise the Titanic" when I was about 15 and I've been wanting to watch the entire movie ever since. Over the years I've heard about it's reputation of being one of the most troubled productions of all time as well as it's standing as one of the biggest bombs in movie history. I am really looking forward to reading your book and finding out the true story of the move and it's production.
I had an Idea for a similar movie that dealt with raising the Britannic, only the Villain Rose the Britannic to use it as a weapon (dont ask how) and the hero has to save both the ship and America from impending doom, kind of like a Comic book/superhero movie like thunderbirds.
My book is a "Making Of" for the 1980 ITC film 'Raise the Titanic', not a fan fiction or anything similar. The book goes behind-the-scenes on how ITC made the film, just like any other movie "Making Of" book, except this one is 30 years too late. Better late than never.
This was great! I'll buy your book for sure! Where will it be available: bookstores or self-published? Can't wait!

Anyway, good news that you´ve made a book about the movie, if I see an example
of it somwhere in a bookstore next year I may consider to buy it.
