Just came back to my comment from a while ago. Interesting to see the responses that was received. I think it was a pretty good mix. I especially like the one about "do we sing over her?" I think it was just confusing and i just wasn't expecting it at all! As far as being racial or whatever - sorry I got the language mixed up (portuguese vs spanish). Have never heard her and I don't speak either language. So how am I to know? That doesn't make me a racist.
I just was disappointed because this is my favorite song to sing to my husband and it just wasn't what I expected and thought it was odd. Thanks for all of those of you who believe in the right to express your opinion!

@jambobsnyder - Please, before write anything, is a good idea to think about what you're writing. She was nor singing spanish, but portuguese. Some words is similar to spanish, but in generall the sound is completely different.
Of course you can like it video or not, but please, there is not only english and spanish in the world.

(at least everyone at the last THREE concerts i have been to where they sang this song) and don't get me wrong, i appreciate being one of the select few to hear this version live, but i would have rather had the english version so i would have felt more comfortable singing.

Not to argue w/you but just wanted to convey the sentiment of the entire audience. You can hear on this video how quiet the venue got when she started singing & throughout the song. As with all DMB concerts/songs, the audience sings along & they started to at the beginning and then once they realized how horrible it sounded, they all stopped & had very confused looks on their faces! Not really just my OWN opinion, but the opinion of alot of people that was there based on reactions.
I was at this concert & I was SOO disappointed in this version of this song:( This is my very fav song of DMB!!! And then for this chick to start singing in spanish (or whatever language she was speaking) totally ruined it for me! And I think it was the sentiment for the whole venue. It got pretty quiet & everyone was like WTF am I hearing everytime she started singing?! Message to DMB - don't ruin your songs by adding in something that's not in ENGLISH, in Dallas, TX of all places!!!!!!!!.
@jambobsnyder That's exactly the opposite of what we can read in many internet virtual foruns dedicated to DMB. You seem to be transfering your opinion to the rest of the audience.
@jambobsnyder 1. you should appreciate the fact that you were part of the only crown to hear that version of the song
2. ivete sang beautifully in portugese and if anything helped out what is other wise a pretty boring song musically and lyricly
3. go to more hows if you want to hear you and me plain and simple, i promise i saw it 3 other times this summer its boring as hell (hint thats why the crowd got silent because the song is boring, especially when you get a last stop opener)
