i feel like USA had the advantage in that they are used to playing with each other.

take a look at the team members. For Canada, HotshotGG, BigFatLP, Elementz are CLG members where TheOddOne and Chaox are TSM members. In comparison, Dan Dinh, Reginald, Xpecial, Dyrus have all played together recently (EG and TSM being closer due to Regi and Dan being brothers). It is so much harder to jungle and support when your partners change.
