There's nothing like listening to Bruce's songs about the real meaning of what this day, July 4, "Independence Day" is all about. Enough about the fireworks, false patriotism, waving of flags and joining the masses in thinking that "freedom" has no consequences. While I do enjoy my freedom, I don't blindly agree with everything that we've done to achieve it. How many have had to die and how many are still clueless? True "Patriotism" and "Freedom" requires challenging our leaders.
This is THE song I find most appropriate to remember Clarence Clemons by right now. His solo is so mournfull and sad - the sound of the sax is pretty much how I feel. RIP Big Man.
"I got some idea that there was more to living than this, you know, then what I was doing" - Exactly. You just said what I couldn't put into words, Bruce. Thank you.
Your Mom and your Guitar. The love and light that opened the door of freedom from the darkness in your home and hometown. Papa, It's supposed to be one of the most beautiful words in the world. I can not express my deepest gratitude and appreciation for this song

Springsteen's songs are so brilliant, no matter how he interprets them they make the hair stand up on the back of my neck.

I think that Bruce touches all of our hearts, explaining us how he see the world, playing this song.

It's also about what happened to communities in the 1980s when Reagan and Thatcher bulldozed industrial communities on both sides of the Atlantic.
