Eagle began life as the Nazi "Horst Wessel". Adolph Hitler attended both the launching and christening. During the war it shot down some Soviet planes, and 1 German plane whose pilot was using the wrong radio codes. Wikipedia
@nallepuh6969 Thanx for that, didn't know that, I actually know almost nothing about ships. I thought it was bad luck to change the name of a ship though. Personally, I don't I'd ever want to be on a ship that was built by the Nazi's, and named after Horst Wessel. Die Fahne hoch! Die Reihen fest geschlossen! SA marschiert mit ruhig, festem Schritt. Kam'raden, die Rotfront und Reaktion erschossen, Marschier'n im Geist in unser'n Reihen mit. --Horst Wessel lied wikipedia
@clintonearlwalker Your comments make no sense at all. You high or something? I guess you don't drive on any interstate highways either, cause they are copied straight from the ones built by nazies in Germany. WIKIPEDIA
I was on the Eagle in 75, 76, 77. What a great ship. Too bad the hammocks are gone. Sleeping on a bunk is no good. And of course, letting women on board messed the whole boat up, separate facilities, air conditioning, that's no way to sail.
Beautiful video. My husband is in the CG and I think it would be awesome for him to be on the Eagle, just to be on it. Thanks for the video. Be safe out there.
This was wonderful to watch, I got to see my nephew that I have not seen in a few years. I'm so proud of him for following in the foot steps of my father, who was a Commander inthe United States Coast Guard. Great video, thanks for sharing.
THANKS!! This was great. My Niece is a cadet and spent her weak aboard the Eagle. We got to visit in San Diego while she had Liberty. What a beautiful ship.
