@ cricket ...too much water with food will cause bloating. Humans restrict water at night why would a puppy not be able to? Thanks for these videos and having captions so it is easier for me to read.
@ladymissgd Humans restrict water at night? Since when? When do you not have something to drink after 7pm unless you're having surgery the next morning?
@karunald Actually yes, If I do not stop drinking I will get up and go to the bathroom up to 4 times a night. Some people are incontinent the older they get. If they drink late at night they will either bedwet or have to wear an adult diaper. Also if you google it, several examples of healthy suggestions of not drinking water after 7pm. So yes, humans restrict water at night since NOW....and no I don't have surgery tomorrow.
Thanks Tracy, everything you state feels good to me, like perfect guidance! Of course there are others here and elsewhere who want to let their Ego move them to say you are wrong, but there is not just one way that works and you offer a quick sure method that will get my puppy Knowing what's expected pronto!
I think the video was great. I just lost a dog who I loved for more then 10 years. I was heartbroken and decided to get another one. I rescued him and he's about a 1. He seems to be a good dog, but my problem is this, my beloved Biskit had many accidents as he got older and I cleaned up all I could see, even brought a steam cleaner. Now, the new dog his lifting his leg and I don't have any idea where else my other dog could have gone that I missed cleaning, any ideas on how to fix this problem?
the food time is ok. but it's always a good idea to keep the water bowl at one place, filled, all times. take an example, you always get thirsty. What do YOU do? you don't have a specific water drinking plan. You just go and get it. Plus water washes away all the toxins in the body, so it's always a good idea to keep the water bowl filled.

i got a 3 month old dockson a week ago and i am haveing trouple geting him to go to the bathroom out side when he does go in the house i rub his nose in it and ponish him by putting him in the cage then he does it again plzzzz what should i do
i do that too. I have a 2 month old cocker and she seems to understand it more than just a minor "NO". But what i do differently is take her outside afterwords so she knows were to go and were she shouldnt go.
I am a Vet nurse & feel it's important to say that all animals should have constant access to clean, fresh water. It is totally wrong to ration water for our convenience. If people are not able to take their puppy to the toilet regularly then please do not get a puppy.
It is maybe more difficult to housebreak a puppy if you provide water for her/him all the time but I completely agree with you. If I am thirsty, I drink, so should the puppy. Perhaps it would be easier to keep track of the time they go potty, they still do it regularly even if fresh water is always available.
I just feed my puppy with milk water and rice with dog food I avoid meats because his fur will be affected

Lots of people do this, but its not really the best way. Its not working for you either, so try a different technique.
