We all know that the movies didn't follow exactly how the books were shown so there could've been a mix up. The first movie came out in November 2001 and the 5th book wasn't even out yet. Do we really know if Rowling had Nagini planned out to be that snake already?
Guys, the snake isn't Nagini. The quote from the "interview" was false. And though it would be SO cool, it wouldn't really make sense. Nagini is female and this snake is male. They're different types too.
"Yes, it's rather funny, really, that next to no one realized the snake that Harry set free in Philosopher's Stone turned out to be Voldemort's final Horcrux, Nagini." J.K. Rowling
@frankmanchest yeah I know that, but seriously that can't be nagini, however I am not sure when Voldermort got his little pet, so I dunno but why DO people think it's Nagini?
@Southparkisfun well actually I just discovered it's false lol! oops! my bad!
There was a rumour that Nagini was the snake Harry released from the zoo in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. This was proven false, as Nagini is some type of viper while the snake in the zoo was a boa constrictor. Furthermore, the snake was given a male voice in the film, while Nagini is female. :p
@tacoshmaco13 JK Rowling said in an interview that they were the same snake, and she was surprised that people didn't realise. It wasn't exactly obvious though.

Speaking of Nagini, did anyone know that her name comes from the Indian word "Nagin" which means female cobra/snake.

@ZonicTheRobot No way that can't be Voldermort's snake, because his snake couldn't talk, and I think Voldermort had his snake before that.
