Hola Amigo. thank you for your reply to my question. Me ha encantado conocerle. So can i say this to both female and Male? its great to hear the slight different pronounced words from latin america to spain, knowing that both can easily understand each other.
@clarkgavinst Oh yeah I don't have much trouble understanding people from Spain. Actually with any country it just takes a few conversations to get used to their new accent. Each country has their own country and for example in Colombia where I lived for a total of 3.5 years there are at least 4 major accents and that's just one country. But it is all the same language with just a handful of vocabulary adjustments usually for foods but sometimes for more common words too.
@clarkgavinst to answer your question, Yes, you can say "me ha encantado conocerle" to both male and female. The "le" refers to Ud. but in some countries they use the "lo" or the "la" for ud. and in that case it is gender sensitive. It's confusing and I'm not sure anyone can explain it to our satisfaction but according to my university professors there are "leista" countries and "loista" countries. You get it? Some use "le" and others use "lo" to say "to you" when using the word "ud."
@clarkgavinst I've lived in mostly "leista" countries and so I tend to use that but it doesn't throw me off to hear "lo or la". And some latinos just have really bad Spanish and they mix it all up.
