  • how come they are not a snake

  • What is the purpose of those grooves on it's sides?

  • @schlectokeeper

Thanks a bunch man, I just got my first job (I'm 15) at a pet store and my first task was to feed and entertain the young pythons that just god delivered. And they are the cutest things ever. the smallest one we have is a baby red carpet python (not sure what breed but it was red) and it is only 16cm long and 2.35cm wide. I'll have to ask my manager about your young friends.

    Thanks anyway.

  • @Freckfart90: They aren't dangerous. Yeah, they can bite, but they are not poisonous (no snake). Some are a bit aggressive when they are hungry, but they become tame very quickly. I have no information about keeping in australia. Wild Scheltopusiks are under nature conservation and they're protected.

  • I've heard both that they are very tame and quite dangerous PLEAZE give me a final answer from someone who knows what they are talking about. Thanks ps can you get them in Australia if so what license is needed?

  • Make a new video of him

  • @powderpuff31: Now this "cute guy" is more than a meter long and he eats 4-5 young mice in a week. He's a "wanna-be Snake"!

  • Looks so much like a snake only wayy cuter : )

  • Aw... it's actually pretty cute! I want one! :D

  • do you own that in australia

  • i have one 2

  • He looks really young! It looks like he still has some of his juvenile pattern (black bands), at least on his head - am I right? It's unusual to see sheltopusiks that young in captivity, since almost all of them are wild caught.

  • no thats probably fully grown

  • they only grow to about 40 cm 45 max and about an inch thick

  • You're probably thinking of the other legless lizard that lives in Europe - the slow worm (Anguis fragilis).

Sheltopusiks (Ophisaurus apodus) are a lot bigger. Mine's about 92 cm long and still growing. They grow to be about 135 cm long on average. Sheltopusiks below about 70 cm in length are considered juveniles.

Juveniles also have a different pattern than adults - they are gray with black bands, then they turn green, and then brown as they grow older.

  • cool, i just caught an 8 inch slender glass lizard, most likely hatched only a few weeks back.
