Slapping Tyson's name on the game brought in an adience that Nintendo otherwise couldn't reach. He essentially brought the games fame to a new level. I really think that if Tyson wasn't the notorious final boss of the original Punch-Out this game wouldn't even have been remade. why? Because it wouldn't of been a mega hit.

Actually, in the arcade versions of punch-out mr dream was the final boss. Tyson was only in the console version.

You got to check out Super Punch-Out for the Super Nintendo.

LOL.....do some research kid. Punch-Out is one of the hardest games on the NES to complete and far from boring...if anything it's infuriating at some points.

I'm not going to do the Punching motions when I play this. I'll be using the classic controller, for sure, just for nostalgia's sake.

I like how the Ref still resembles Mario but he should be an unlockable option or something.

Yeah, you're wrong all right. Punch-Out!! isn't so much about boxing as it is about strategy and puzzles. You have to recognize your opponents moves and attack and defense wisely.

I'd imagine if you used the remote+chuck it would be like in Wii sports, the remote on it's side would be like in the old punchout, and it's also confirmed to have compatibility with the balance mat, so that might be used for dodging.

It's been said that in order to make Mario fit in the style, they'd have to make him look more realistic and stuff, and it wouldn't really be Mario.

The idea of Mario with normal proportions just seems wrong, so I see where they're coming from.

mario of course was ref in the nes game(s), i was wondering a while back if he was gonna be on it again, but its really interesting. when i look at this wii punchout version ref he reminds me exactly, if my memory is working, of the referee from the arcade punchout!! which i think would be a sweet nod to the underrated and often overlooked arcade version.

wii boxing is actually really responsive if you figure out the controls and don't just wave your arms around like an idiot.

Punch-outs controls are more similar to the nes design, you press up and swing your arm and he does a hook, you just swing he jabs, hold down and he blocks.

actually i dont wave my arms all over, i actually punch and half the time it doesnt respond to my punch. this game looks like it fixes that problem by actually responding to all the punching

and i know all about the nes game, it was the first game i ever played and cherish that game to this day
