I've been playing this for a week and i can honestly say it isn't for me. I haven't enjoyed didn't playing it and i'm a minor Trek fan even that wasn't enough. I still have 3 weeks left of my first month and i'm pretty much done with it. Will be ending my subscription tonight. The game mechanics just don't feel satisfying in so many ways there is not enough room to list them all in this post. Really disappointing.

they have added a difficulty slider to the game so anyone wanting more of a challenge can change it from normal setting (default) to advanced or elite so really this game can be for everyone

Seems just a teensy bit easy for my tastes, not even once during the ground combat does the shield fail or anything like that.

Why would you want the shield to fail? Besides this is an early mission you do before Lt Cmnder ( level 11).

At low levels it is easy, which is usually the case in a lot of games especially this one. If the game were extremely difficult at first a lot of players would get frustrated and stop playing. At higher levels it gets harder, especially for PVP.

@Desicionoflife I can say that about a lot of games, most players are casual gamers. Casual gamers will quit if something is too difficult or is too time consuming. That is why business models like World of Warcraft cater to the casual gamers and make the learning curve easier. I will say that STO does have an easier learning curve at low levels and may not feel like much of a challenge. Get to the rank of admiral, the curve gets steeper.

That is the worst species name you could give 8472.  Sounds better with numbers. If one of their ships was that bad ass, imagine a group :S.

Oh and @Aurelius27x - I've played WoW, WAR, Everquest, SWG, Lineage II and STO.

I don't like WoW because of the gameplay, but as for WAR, aside from PvP what does it have???

Answer - Nothing really and I've played it since release. STO will have and in fact already does have more stuff than WAR.
